Honestly, that is just so typical German, isn't it? I don't know, I just can't picture any group of curvy women pulling off that look. Except maybe for those who really love to go all out with the accessories 😁

It’s such a shame we don't have an H&M B.i.B. collection here in the States; they seriously make some gorgeous pieces.

I don't know, what I saw at Takko didn't strike me as particularly feminine at all.🤷
They have T-shirts, tunics, denim, button-downs—it’s all fairly trendy stuff, I suppose.
I wouldn't really compare C&A to Takko, though. Takko seems more geared toward a younger crowd, maybe.

I wasn't actually thinking about Takko, I was talking about C&A. I stepped foot in a Takko once, but I didn't really hang around long enough to check out their plus sizes.

C&A...maybe....
Ugh. I’ve been seriously considering finally getting into designing clothes specifically for plus-sized women. It feels like every designer we have in the States only cares about the super thin crowd, and nobody seems to be looking out for those of us with actual curves.
I know there are a few boutiques tucked away in Chicago, but honestly, none of them really hit the mark for me.
Now I’m stuck thinking about size ranges. I’m not sure if I should focus on sizes 12 through 16... I can barely even wrap my head around a size 18. To be totally blunt, the biggest person I’ve ever actually sewn something for was my mother, and she’s a 14—which doesn't even feel large to me.
hm...what do you guys think....any of you have experience with sewing...

You can find sizes 12 to 16 pretty much everywhere. 🤷 If you actually turn this into a business, keep in mind that women wearing size 20 and up have a much harder time finding anything that fits. Also, bodies come in all shapes; some people carry weight in their hips and thighs, some in their midsection, others in their bust, and so on.

Bradley Jones3 makes a valid point—when it comes to women with curves, everyone is built a little differently... For instance, my upper half is significantly larger than my lower half, which means I constantly struggle to find dresses or suits that actually fit. Usually, I have to have my outfits custom-tailored just to make them work.
As for Target—I actually stumbled upon some amazing finds in a size 12, and they looked so youthful, plus the prices were incredibly, incredibly reasonable.🙂

So, how do you guys actually find anything cute in sizes 44 to 48?

I’m stuck in the 44-46 range and honestly, finding decent clothes is a joke. Maybe if I get lucky at H&M and find something reasonably priced, but that almost never happens... it's pretty annoying 😢 especially when looking for nice colored dresses or good jeans. Finding them in the right size is basically an impossible mission.

My mom usually wears a 16 or 18. She's got curves, but there are plenty of people way bigger than her, so if I were you, I'd definitely expand the range—maybe go up to a 20 or even a 22.

I mostly stick to ASOS, or sometimes Target. I can still find tops almost anywhere for now, but pants are getting harder to track down.😬

ASOS is amazing, but their prices are honestly ridiculous. I just heard about Takko for the first time today, so I think I'll head over and check it out. I'm the same way—I can usually find decent tops and tees, but pants and skirts are a total nightmare. Finding jeans that actually fit my curves is impossible. When I do find something that fits, the styles are so tacky I can barely stand them, but you basically have no choice.

Check out C&A; most of it is junk, but they do have some gems.
I was shopping for my mom the other day and spotted this gorgeous design—a few similar tunics—that I wanted to grab for myself immediately, but everything was way too big. They looked amazing, though... I haven't seen patterns that nice in the "standard" section at C&A anywhere else.

I’m hunting for some skinny jeans in a size 42, ideally priced under $200$83—any leads on where I can find those?

So, I tried on a size 40 at C&A yesterday and they were way too small for me... specifically the flat cut ones, you know, just regular black denim from there... even though a 40 felt huge on me before... 😢

So, my friend and I hit up the mall in downtown Chicago the other day. We’re both pretty curvy—she’s more busty, while I’ve got the classic hourglass thing going on with my hips and waist—and we ended up spending a good chunk of time at Monsoon. Honestly, they had some killer stuff. It’s not exactly budget-friendly, like, don't expect clearance rack prices, but they actually carry sizes up to 50. We literally walked in and immediately asked, "Hey, what's the largest size you carry?" because finding stuff that fits is basically a sport for us. Plus, the styles aren't tacky or anything; it's not that "old lady" vibe you get sometimes. They actually have pieces that are genuinely fun and cute!

From what I've heard, the H&M B.I.B. line is actually coming to Westgate.🙂

Yeah, they have nice things, but I guess they're a bit pricey for everyday wear. Maybe I'd splurge for a special occasion, though.🤷

And then there's the whole thing with Ulla Popken... they're opening up shops in Avenue Mall and CC1 in Split.

Checked their website. I hate everything. Maybe two or three tunics if you're desperate, but the styles are just old lady vibes.
The shirts and tunics are way too baggy and longgggg. They’re supposed to cover the hips, not hang down to mid-thigh while making you look like a literal balloon.
Same thing with the dresses—super shapeless and the length is just terrible, hitting right at the calf or ankle.

The Dorothy Perkins over on Main Street😉 has such a pathetic selection. I used to go there all the time for denim. Back in the day, everything was around $43, but now they’ve jacked prices up to $179 or even more. I’ve got pretty thick thighs—total hourglass shape, 🙂—and honestly, the pairs I bought from DP have held up surprisingly well; they haven't even started thinning out between the legs yet.

Back when I was wearing a 12 or 14, I mostly stuck to Dorothy Perkins (though their collections seem to get worse every season; you're lucky if you find two or three decent things). I also hit up Takko, Zara (yeah, yeah—you can occasionally snag something bigger, but don't hold your breath), Gap (same deal, you might find a decent pair of pants if you get lucky, but they aren't always stocked), ASOS, and maybe even TJ Maxx or Marshalls before all those big chains moved into town.

I think 12/14 is often that frustrating "in-between" size. It’s hard to find in regular stores, but then once you hit the plus-size boutiques, everything starts at a 16 or 18.

I usually land on a size 42-44 in pants and maybe a 38-40 in shirts, depending on how they're cut, I guess.
"Most of my stuff comes from places like Gap or Marks & Spencer, and if I’m ever traveling through Europe, I might hit up H&M too."😉
To be honest, finding the right fit is still such a pain for me—like, I can never find cute knee-high leather boots that actually fasten comfortably around my calves, or bras that fit right (I'm a 38B, I think).
I actually stumbled upon one bra in that size just by pure luck! It was on sale at a $8.25 🤣 Takko shop while I was visiting a city out west, but besides that... 🙄
I used to shop at Dorothy Perkins back before everything went downhill, you know? They had such a huge selection then. And I totally agree with what Jason Moore63 said—their jeans actually last. Mine don't get those holes between the thighs immediately, unlike, say, some brands that start fraying after just a month of wearing them. 🙂 So yeah, I don't really bother there anymore.😁
Most of my denim is just standard stuff from Gap or Marks & Spencer.😉

That sounds absolutely awesome! 👋

Man, what a bummer about Dorothy Perkins. It’s such a shame they went under. They seriously had an eye for the good stuff—always had those killer pieces in stock, too. You could always count on them having plenty of options to choose from, which made shopping there such a breeze. Just a total loss for anyone who loved their vibe.
