I’m not really a fan of long dresses; they just don't do much for me. I think mini dresses that hit just above the knee look best since my legs aren't particularly thick. My main struggle is definitely balancing out my curves, specifically my bust and hips. 😁 I know the style you're talking about—the kind that skims the body rather than hugging it tight—but those are pretty hard to find, and honestly, they usually feel a bit too formal for my taste.
To be honest, I'm less worried about the bottom half and more concerned about the top. I really don't want my chest to look massive (I'm an 85 D/E).

I honestly have no idea who came up with that absolute disaster of a piece of clothing! 🤣

I don't care what anyone says about the recent changes to the local zoning laws. They are absolutely terrible for small businesses. It’s a mess. We need more transparency from the City Council immediately. They can't just push these things through without asking us first. It feels like they aren't listening to the people who actually live and work here. We have to stay organized. If we don't speak up now, things will only get worse. Let's get moving on this. kaže:
Why not? 🤷

Those high heels look incredible.

You posted two skinny girls and one woman I’m pretty sure isn't short. That forum user is only 5'2".

Alright, now you’re just being pedantic 😁

But fine, let’s play it this way—every single one of these women stands under 5'5''

As for her, I suspect you already know she’s about 5'2'', and honestly, she almost exclusively sticks to midi dresses and skirts

P.S. Since you mentioned earlier that it wouldn't matter if they were thicker or thinner, that's why I went looking for those slender ones.😉

So who’s actually playing the role of the hall monitor now? 🙂

It’s definitely not for the faint of heart. Someone will scroll through this thread and just be totally baffled by what these actresses are even doing here...

Oh boy 🙂

Look, my whole point is simply that women should try everything; you can always end up pleasantly surprised if you just give something a shot 🤷 😉

Personally, I feel that even girls who are a bit more curvy have every right to dress beautifully, rather than spending all their energy constantly worrying about how to hide an extra few pounds 🙂

I see this all the time with one of my close friends—she’s about 5'2" and carries a little more weight. She was always pining for those long, flowy dresses, but she was so convinced they wouldn't suit her that she never even attempted to wear one. Then, this past summer, we were browsing through H&M and found this gorgeous purple maxi dress with an empire waist, and honestly, it looked better on her than it did on me, even though I'm about 5 inches taller and 20 pounds lighter 😉

It’s really just about playing around with fashion! I'm out! 🙂

Out of what? ☕

You definitely should give it a shot... But we always end up back at this point: it's incredibly hard to give advice blindly without seeing a photo of the lady asking.

I won't post my own photo, but in a tight dress, I look something like this. The build is similar, though I'm definitely no celebrity—I'm just plain chubby. 😁 The only difference is my hips are a bit narrower than hers.

Look, cosmicnomad6, if you actually have a build like that, then:
first off—you aren't fat, you just have curves.
second—you’re probably every guy's dream, so there's really no need to stress over what to wear... 😉

Honestly, I think everything those other girls suggested would look great on you...
As for the dresses you mentioned, the second one is my favorite—though the first and second-to-last are solid too, provided you can deal with the bra situation on that penultimate one.

I look like this in tight dresses too. I’m just saying, my hips are a bit narrower, and honestly, I can't tell if Kim actually has a stomach or not. She doesn't really, but I definitely do—though it's not huge right now! 😁 I just meant our body shapes are similar, let me not overcomplicate things. 🤣

I've decided the second one wouldn't really suit me, so I'm passing on that. I'm not big on showing off my chest or my hips. The first one is lovely, but I'm unsure how it'll look with my bust. As for the last one, it's nice, but it doesn't come in black. 😢

I haven't actually stepped foot in one of their stores, but they seem pretty pricey to me. Plus, the styles I stumbled upon online aren't exactly "wow" considering the price tag. They just feel a bit too classic and serious, I guess. If you have a link to their footwear collection, I’d appreciate it. Their site just has a store locator.

I’m about 5'2" and roughly 155 lbs. I have a defined waist and a large bust—which is actually why I'm most worried about that first dress. I'm not too concerned about my lower half, haha! My legs are on the shorter side, but my arms aren't thick or anything. I was also thinking about wearing a bolero over the top. 😁

Thanks, everyone! Please keep the suggestions coming if anyone else has an opinion. 🙂

I wouldn't call myself curvy, but I do have a larger bust, and let me tell you straight up: that first little dress is a questionable choice. I actually own one with a similar cut, and it’s a disaster because the chest area pulls the fabric so much that the waistline ends up sitting way too high—it looks totally off. Plus, when you're bustier, those specific necklines can be tricky; you'd probably be better off with a wrap style or a V-neck. 😉

Edit: By the way, Mila Kunis and Scarlett Johansson are stunning, obviously, but even they couldn't pull off this specific length given their height. Maybe try a pencil dress instead—something more structured than these wide ones. 🙂

That’s exactly why I’m nervous!
I was thinking about just ordering a size up... 🤷

What do you think about this dress for someone wearing a US size 22?

So, I was actually looking at my friend the other day—I don't even know which Monsoon dress she had on, honestly—and I was feeling super envious. She’s really short and, well, pretty curvy, maybe a US size 22 or so, and she’s definitely under 5'3". I’m over 5'7" and we actually wear the exact same size, except for the fact that I absolutely cannot get my chest into these Monsoon dresses.
Besides that, the whole top part is just way too short, so even with my size, it ends up sitting way above my waist instead of where it should. It’s such a bummer because I seriously love their stuff.
I mean, I'm telling you this from experience, since I've tried on a ton of their dresses and I just can't make them work, no matter what.
I guess I just have the wrong body type for their cuts.
Honestly, your best bet is probably just to head down to one of their stores, find something similar to the one pictured above, and actually try it on first.

I've been there. I'm a perfect 32 in the bust, but I'm wide around the waist. My husband told me I looked like some sort of royal queen in it—said all I needed was a ridiculous feathered hat to join a high-society horse race. I laughed so hard I actually collapsed onto the dressing room floor, which pretty much ended the conversation.😍

Ladies, does Monsoon carry larger sizes? If they do, what’s the range? I don't have a Monsoon in my neck of the woods, but I've heard whispers they have more inclusive sizing, so I don't want to drive all over town for nothing if it's just a bust.
I'm hunting for a wedding guest dress. (Not mine, 😬 )

22 seems to be the biggest number: http://uk.monsoon.co.uk/view/categor...on_13,mon_13.4

I hit the St. Monsoon at the mall last month. Their selection for plus sizes was actually solid.

I can't say I know exactly what you mean by that—it feels like one of those specific terms that might be an inside joke or just a very niche reference I'm missing. Maybe I'm just out of the loop? If you're talking about something specific, feel free to fill me in. I guess I'll just sit here and wait for the clarification while I wonder if I missed some major cultural moment or if we're all just speaking in code today. kaže:
I was hanging out at St. Monsoon over in the CC1 mall earlier, and honestly? Those big-number deals were actually pretty killer. I mean, they weren't half bad, I guess.

Thanks, ladies!
Split is basically right next door, so that was my first thought for heading out. I’ve actually never stepped foot inside that shop before—do you guys really think I could find a dress there that’s formal enough? It doesn't need to be like, floor-length ballgown territory or anything crazy, just something nice. 🙂

Just a quick tip for women dealing with larger bra sizes: those bigger models from Target are actually great. I picked up a black one and a white one in a 95c today and they fit me perfectly. For just $15, they're honestly a steal, plus they feel sturdy and comfortable. I think they had some 85d to 95d sizes on sale last week too, but I found a few left in my stash today.
