Seriously?
I went, and honestly, I left feeling totally let down.
This was the first sale where I didn't end up buying a single thing.
At H&M-, they just marked down stuff that was already overpriced—same story at C&A.
Those skinny jeans are $50, those lacey, pajama-style tops that stretch out like old gum are $33, and at H&M-, basically everything is only available in size 3XL
It’s the same mess at C&A. Wrinkled, baggy shirts that look like $43, skirts that aren't even...
This isn't even a sale—it's just a lack of choice. Nothing offered here works for a young person, and nothing works for someone my age in their prime.
Marks & Spencer's also has up to 50% off, but man, they are a disappointment too.
Their cuts and fabrics are great, but here in the States, they are ridiculously expensive.
I actually ordered from the M&S website directly from the UK—two pairs of classic trousers, a pencil dress (all viscose/elastane blend), and a short wool coat. With shipping, it came to £39.
Basically, for about $133, I got four solid pieces. Toss in a blouse, a pashmina, and a necklace I already owned, and I'm perfectly put together for work.
Around here, $133 barely gets you one pair of pants, and that's it.
Sure, H&M- has some tiger-print skinnies for $12, but that's not office attire.
I’d be embarrassed to wear that to a hike or the gym.

"Two pairs of classic trousers, one pencil skirt all made from a viscose and elastane blend, and a short wool coat"... I never once mentioned there were sales, nor did I say the shops carrying "that kind" of stuff were cheap (I seriously doubt the average person on this forum actually wears any of it), so I have no idea why you're hitting up the specific stores I listed expecting to find exactly what you quoted from your own post at a bargain price. And why act surprised that other people aren't embarrassed to wear this to a hike or the gym? 🙄 Some people even wear it to work or college—imagine that. It's true there's plenty of "fashionable" garbage out there, but I found pieces that weren't just for $12 but also for a $6.75 t-shirt. Honestly, gross. At that point, it's not even fit for cleaning the bathroom. I just don't see how anyone could tell the difference between yours and the exact same thing that cost $43 during the summer.

P.S. Have you checked Target? 😂 They have clothes there for just a few bucks.

Ladies, how are we handling this whole belt situation?

So, I’ve got what I can only politely call a royal backside, which means my pants—especially jeans—are always way too loose around the waist. Then I throw on a belt because, honestly, I love cinching things in tight (🤦), but then the fabric just bunches up and spills out underneath it... making me look even thicker than I actually am.

Should I get them tailored? Add an elastic band? (three thumbs up)
Or maybe hunt down some kind of stretchier belt?

What do I even do... seriously, what?

I have this kind of sensitive wrist, so I never really tighten my watch strap too much. I usually just go for a lighter fit, something that stays secure without feeling like it’s crushing me. I guess that’s just how I roll.

I wear my pants low—meaning the belt sits right on my hips😁

Greetings to all you lovely ladies! I’ve been spending the last few days reading through your posts, and I must say, I am incredibly impressed by how well-informed everyone is regarding where to find the right pieces for those of us with more substantial figures. To give you a little context about myself, I am 47 years old, standing about 5'9", and currently weighing in at around 210 pounds. I live in a tiny rural town where finding decent trousers—especially a good pair of jeans—is nearly impossible. The most recent find that actually left me feeling delighted was a pair from a small local boutique called DKD out near Vojni; you might not have heard of them, but they make wonderful, comfortable high-waisted pants in a size 18 that actually fit properly.
My body type is quite pear-shaped, with a prominent rear and fuller thighs, which means I rarely feel comfortable in low-rise styles because there just isn't enough fabric to go around. If I were to make a trip down to a major hub like Miami, could any of you point me toward the best places to shop? Since my job keeps me on my feet and outdoors quite a bit, I think a sturdy, dark-wash pair of denim would be my best bet.
I’ve been browsing a few online shops lately, too. When a brand labels something as "high-rise," does that truly mean they offer a deep, accommodating rise, or is it just a cosmetic design choice? I would be so grateful if someone could shed some light on that for me. Sending my very best to every one of you.
I realized I neglected to mention that I really dislike tight, skinny legs; I much prefer a comfortable, straight-leg cut with just a hint of stretch. In my opinion, those ultra-tight leggings only serve to make us look even wider than we are.

I honestly think you’d find some solid options over at Target or maybe Old Navy—both stores carry those comfortable, deep-wash denim styles, and the price point is more than fair. Plus, the dark indigo doesn't just fade out into nothing the second you toss them in the wash. I’ve got quite a few pairs from both places in my closet myself... definitely worth a look if you're hunting for quality on a budget.

Hi everyone.
I need some advice on buying a dress. I'm a bridesmaid for a wedding coming up, so I'm looking at ordering this New Look piece from ASOS, but I'm stuck on the sizing. I usually wear a size 14 at Gap or H&M. I was thinking about going with an 18. What do you think? Does anyone know if New Look runs true to size? Any help would be appreciated. Here's the dress in question: http://www.asos.com/New-Look-Inspire...408&gridsize=3

Thanks in advance.

The new Lookov 18 runs pretty big—it’s more like a 48-50 than a 46. Check the actual measurements for the 16 and 18 on ASOS and compare them 🙂 Also, their dresses tend to be quite loose around the top.

Thanks for the quick reply. I’ll go ahead and order the size 18 then, and just take it in at the top if needed.

For those who used to shop at BP like I did, they're back in business. You can use ePay online, though the website is still acting up a bit. I received the catalog a few days ago and already placed a lovely order for $333 spring essentials. Unfortunately, I had to stick to just black coffee, but there are plenty of options. The prices are reasonable, similar to Kik, though the selection seems better to me.

Could you please send the link? I find it pretty hard to shop online. Even when I'm walking through stores, I struggle with judging sizes, so I usually have to try on several different ones. I guess I just stay loyal to the same fits.

What’s your go-to move when you order something online and it just... isn't it? Do you actually deal with the hassle of returning it, or do you just let it sit there?
I mean, I've seen some really lovely pieces over at Mango from the Violeta line—seriously gorgeous stuff—but I always get that little bit of hesitation before hitting "buy"... 🙂

Only once did an ASOS shirt arrive in the wrong size. I sent it back for a tiny bit of cash since it was light, and they just credited my account.

Anyway, Violeta 👍 I have two pairs of pants, totally happy with them.

What’s the damage on prices and shipping at M&S?
I need two dressier options—but I refuse to wear plastic.
I'm looking for high-end fabrics, stuff like silk.
Right now, Marks & Spencer is a total bust—nothing interesting there. Is there anywhere else worth checking out?

Anyone here actually dealt with ordering bras for bigger busts? Needs to be cotton and underwired.

Susan Anderson33, you can check out the prices right here: http://shop.mango.com/US/curvesizes

Shipping is free through $100. For anything up to $100, you'll just pay $13.

Honestly, they’ve got everything. You want something elegant, or maybe just sporty, underwire, wireless, swimsuits... you name it.

Edit:

I’ve actually bought from this one seller on eBay before, too.
http://www.ebay.com/usr/belle-linger...19.m1438.l2754

It’s true, though—it can be such a hassle until you finally hit on a model that actually fits. Even if the size is the same, different styles can look totally different on you. Since I usually just use PayPal, and ever since they started offering that shipping refund option when you send stuff back (for up to $73), I just end up grabbing a few different styles at once. If something doesn't work out, I just send it back.
