What even is BJJ? Honestly, I couldn't handle boxing if I tried. Maybe I'll just stumble into an Aikido class and see what happens.

bjj stands for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu... and honestly, I think you'd be better off sticking with Aikido back home in Chicago👍

If you're serious about learning aikido, just head over to that studio in the stadium district.

So he’s going to go watch Aikido then? What was that guy's name at the stadium? I only saw the ocean, but he's over by the pier instead.

I was browsing online and stumbled upon some PDF file from the American Muay Thai Federation that mentions a club called "Flash" over in Split... I'm trying to dig up more info because I’ve been looking into getting into Muay Thai, but honestly, most people I talk to seem to conflate the two with kickboxing, which is frustrating enough already. 😕 Basically, I want to know if this "Flash" place is actually legit for training real MT, or if they’re just selling smoke and mirrors? Thanks.
And I'm not sure if it's appropriate to bring this up, but there's also some mention of a coach named Marko Zaja.

Paul King78 here. Just checking in. Keeping things moving. Always stay sharp. kaže:
Scouring the web, I stumbled upon this PDF from the American Muay Thai Federation that mentions a club called "Flash" based out of Split... so now I’m curious if anyone knows the scoop on them. I'm looking to get into Muay Thai, but honestly, most people I talk to just lump it in with standard kickboxing. Anyone got the real lowdown?😕 So, I’m wondering—is that "Flash" spot actually legit for training Muay Thai, or are they just selling us smoke and mirrors? Thanks!
I don't know if it was actually adapted or what, but regardless, there's some mention of a coach named Mark Zaja.

Flash Club is actually just Pitbull Kickboxing. They registered themselves as a Muay Thai club specifically so they could compete in official Muay Thai championships.
"Flash" is actually the nickname for coach Mark Zaja.

Hmm... you're saying it's all the exact same club? 🙄 I assume just because they're registered under the Muay Thai banner doesn't mean that's all they actually teach at the gym.

Actually, it's the same gym. To compete in all those tournaments, they have to be officially registered for both kickboxing and Muay Thai—and honestly, I think they're listed as a boxing club too.
They don't specifically teach Muay Thai style; their technique is different, but man, they have some incredible fighters. They're famous for having killer handwork.

Hey, so I'm a girl... just wondering where I can go, and if it's even possible, to do some RECREATIONAL boxing training? Like, what kind of prices are we looking at? Please help... I really need something to help me quit smoking...

...man, what a fight...you think we're just talking about boxing here, or is there something bigger at play...
...honestly, if I were giving you advice as a girl, I'd tell you to go with kung fu...

You could give the kickboxing at Tiger a shot with Mr. Ciketić, though if you’re asking me, I’d much rather point you toward Muay Thai with Damir over at Holly Spirit... 😘
The boxing scene down at Jarun is actually pretty solid.

But look, if your cardio isn't exactly where it needs to be, maybe aim for a skill rather than a full-blown sport...

Just drop it while you still can. 😬

(Forgot to ask: why even bother with Baguazhang? The closest thing to an official school is probably over in Europe where Park Bok Nam runs occasional seminars. Unless you want to track down Kuzman—supposedly he teaches it too.)

...What I really need to round out my whole defensive system and actually make it complete is mobility...
...which means grabbing some Baguazhang techniques for those circular patterns—you know, the five elements style—and then maybe some Xing Yi Quan for the linear stuff...
...I've already got plenty of Kung Fu in my hands and feet, now I just need the footwork...
...I think once I have that, the debate is over...

It’s never the end. 😁
You might be physically ready, but have you even stopped to ask about the mental aspect? It’s never truly over...👍
