Yeah, they've got rounds designed for armor and others meant for walls that detonate right after impact.
Word is the whole shipment is 5,100 units. About 2,650 landed in Ukraine yesterday, and the rest should trickle in weekly through the end of May. Production is moving pretty slow.
Looks like Ukrainians are gearing up for a long-term guerrilla war.

The deployment of advanced cruise missiles in modern conflict zones is much like trying to play chess while the board itself is constantly shifting under your feet. It’s a relentless game of technological cat-and-mouse where one side's breakthrough is immediately met by the other's desperate attempt to neutralize it.

It isn't even a requirement that we stick to an American system.

I mean, we could probably just hand over some C-RAM units to help them protect their bases, government buildings, power plants, or those high-end restaurants and whatnot.

They aren't exactly using up all that C-RAM inventory back in Afghanistan anymore anyway.

The way I see it, they were already stationed there and ended up either incapacitated or completely wiped out.

While C-RAM is certainly a handy bit of tech, its inherent limitations suggest that even the US military doesn't rely on them as a primary shield for its own domestic bases.

The first group of Ukrainians just wrapped up their training, and now they're getting Starstreak sent straight to the front lines.

It’s essentially an upgrade to the Armbrust systems used back during the Gulf War—assuming they could actually get their hands on them at the time.

Just to be clear, this isn't some handout from Germany—the Ukrainians actually bought these themselves...

It’s a pretty slick little piece of gear—being able to punch through the frontal armor of a T72B or a T80U isn't really the main selling point, since we've got the Javelin, NLAW, or Stugna for that—but it's incredibly effective against basically any BMP, BTR, or truck you throw at it...

Low, lower, Germany... always going downhill...

As long as they aren't blocking everything up and actually sending some gear over... Honestly, I doubt they even have enough Matadors to go around—I’d bet my life that Ukraine probably bought more of them than there are in the entire German Army.

Like they actually have some massive need right now, as if they’re out there defending the Columbus gap...

That's 5,100 units at $25 million. They've already delivered 2,650.

If the fighting stops for the Ukrainians, they’re going to find themselves sitting on a massive stockpile of some of the most cutting-edge hardware on the planet.

Norway just sent another 2,000 anti-tank weapons over to Ukraine

That’s an additional 2,000 M72s—they already dropped off 2,000 just last month.

Honestly, those things are basically American firecrackers, aren't they? Perfect for lighting up a wedding or maybe pulling off a heist at a local bank...

Germany might be looking at sending about $325 million worth of various gear over to Ukraine very soon. We're talking night vision, MATADORI systems, radars, grenade launchers... the works!

It’s just like how disarming the local militias significantly helped wrap up the conflict faster and saved countless lives. 😉

I’m betting my life this was a paid deal rather than a donation, because I find it hard to believe anyone just gives these away; after all, when the US Army bought their Panzerhaubitze 2000s, they shelled out about $3.5 million a piece, so why would I think a Vickers unit would be any cheaper?

It’s entirely possible it might be some kind of leasing agreement🤔

I really don't think anything is being billed to Ukraine right now; maybe, if the war ends and Ukraine manages to remain a sovereign nation, then perhaps there will be some sort of settlement or billing down the road, but for now, I doubt it.

Honestly, they might be better off taking those old howitzers from East Germany..
Or... just stick to stuff they actually know (or can learn fast) how to use.
Basically, give them anything "heavy" from the USSR era.

Besides, they were asking for tanks too—presumably, that's happening behind the scenes.
The real headache is Canada—they won't let anything transit through their territory, and they haven't even donated a single round of ammo.
