Educated guess (based on how Curve and Revolut auto-assign categories, you can pretty much nail down the MCC).

On crv and Rev usually list things like "general" or "business services" for stuff like this. Do you think it actually qualifies as a "money transfer"?

That gap tells me they’re running different MCCs. Since everything goes through fine on Wise Revolut but gets rejected by keks Pay, my educated guess is that keks Pay is flagging a "riskier" MCC... probably something tied to money transfers or some other quasi-cash code.

Look, if you try a transfer from EcoPayz to Revolut or Mones, they flag it as a cash advance and hit you with a fee.

Take EcoPayz’s reward game, for instance. You get entered into a daily draw just for topping up at least $25.
But here's the kicker: if I try to move that $25 over to those other services using my EcoPayz card, they charge me a cash advance fee. How convenient.

Yeah, honestly, it all comes down to which specific card you're using. But the bottom line is the different MCCs involved. Some cards might be cool with both, some won't touch either, and others will let one slide while blocking the other...

Maybe give it a shot using EcoPayz through Curve—assuming you can even get EcoPayz added to the app. Word on the street is that Curve has been messing around with MCCs lately; apparently, the MCC shows up differently when you go through them versus going direct. A few people were complaining about it on Reddit, but honestly, that might actually work in your favor...

It isn't possible—unless they've gone and changed something in the last month or so...

Anyone else having a hard time adding a new Chase credit card revolving to keks Pay?

I keep getting this error message:

It’s weird because I just did a top-up on my Chime card using the exact same card, and the 3DS went through totally fine...

I just loaded my Chase credit card revolving onto keks and honestly, it works like a charm without any issues at all.

Managed to get it added just now, I guess there was just some temporary glitch or something.

The golden rule is pretty simple: whenever a new update drops for anything at all, you just sit tight and let everyone else be the guinea pigs by testing it out for you first.

Sent $67 via keks Pay using my Chase credit card. My cash withdrawal limit didn't budge, and it just shows up under keks Pay expenses. Honestly, this is a win for me—I can pull out whatever cash I need for the month without hitting fees, all while stacking miles on the side. 🙂

The real question is whether they'll actually count the mileage for this.
Even if it isn't technically a cash advance, there’s a chance they’ll just flag it as a money transfer—and those transactions usually don't earn any points.
They aren't exactly stupid, you know. :-)

I’d love to be wrong about this one.

True, the whole thing feels sketchy to me too. There's this specific code next to the amount I spent—191—which looks identical to what shows up when I buy groceries. Meanwhile, that PayPal charge they use to verify the card has a completely different code. Looks like we won't know for sure until the statement hits and we see the mileage total.🙂

191 is just the currency code for dollars.

When you use keks Pay or other merchants, they send an MCC code to the card issuer or the bank. We don't see it on our end, but it’s what identifies exactly what kind of transaction took place.

I’ve been digging through some Federal Reserve stats here and something caught my eye. For the first few months, the numbers for depositing cash onto cards from other domestic banks were all zero—which makes sense—but there was a tiny handful of transactions hitting foreign cards instead. It looks like some merchant in the States is actually allowing cash deposits directly onto a foreign card (maybe some fintech setup?). Does anyone have any idea which kind of outlet would allow this, or what kind of foreign card we're looking at?
EDIT: Just realized I missed something. In the later months, the numbers for domestic banks finally jumped above zero, whereas they were zero at the start. Meanwhile, those foreign card numbers were active early on and then dropped to zero later. These data points are incredibly weird...
