What are you guys planning to do with the funds on your Visa Prepaid Card?

I mean, I should be able to just spend the dollars directly without dealing with any conversions, right?...
#305 ·
Hmm, how exactly would that work?
The card is in USD.
I'm not sure if I can transfer those funds into a checking account without getting hit by conversion fees.
It’s worth a shot.

This is what it says on the site:
The Visa Prepaid Card is a contactless debit card that works for both online shopping and in-store swipes at any terminal that takes Visa cards. The Visa card also gives you easy access to ATM cash withdrawals wherever you happen to be. Each Visa card can be linked to a specific currency account within your digital wallet, letting you pull directly from that balance when you pay.
So that basically means you can just link the card to a USD balance and spend it directly...

I hope you're right.
I went through the exact same headache with PayPal. It was a total disaster—I was spending my USD balance using a Visa card, which triggered double conversions at terrible rates. To make matters worse, they tacked on a 3.99% currency conversion fee on top of everything else.
Bottom line: it's a massive rip-off.
We’ll just have to see how it actually plays out in practice.

Look, you can certainly use the card from your bank balance, but the real question is whether $33 withdrawals or purchases will actually pull exactly 100 from the balance or if they'll tack on extra fees... That’s the catch.

You can shop normally using US dollars, and it just pulls the exact amount straight from your USD account without any annoying conversion fees. In the app, you just select which one you want as your primary account—for me, it’s my USD account.
You can even add the card to Apple Pay, and if you're at a place like Walmart, for instance, it'll just charge your USD account directly.

Great. Do I need to link a specific card to that account, or what?
Edit: Looks like I do. Just ordered a US Dollar card, so we'll see how that plays out.

Exactly—you need a specific card tied to your USD account if you want funds to be pulled from there. Basically, every currency and its corresponding account requires its own card, though they’ll let you grab your first card for any given currency for free. It works just like the setup over at LeoPay. One interesting quirk, though: if you use your USD card to make a purchase in Euros, it just pulls the Dollars, but if you request a refund, those Euros go straight back into your Euro account. 😁
Anyway, I just saw my USD deposit from last night hit. My biggest gripe with the Visa Prepaid Card is that they don't send any notifications at all, whether money is arriving or being spent. The only alert you get is the 3D secure SMS verification, which is a completely different thing entirely. I had similar issues with the notification system on LeoPay, but it was at least somewhat functional.

Hmm, I have a feeling some notifications actually exist
I'll double-check one of them in the next few days

On my Android, I’m not getting anything at all, except for those 3D Secure text messages—but even those don't really count as push notifications. I've used this card everywhere: at the grocery store, making online purchases, even receiving transfers... and absolutely nothing pops up. It's strange because if I check the push notifications tab inside the app, everything is listed there as if it actually arrived, yet I never saw a single alert.
I've double-checked my settings, and every single push notification toggle is turned on.

Hey,
If I send $667 using Zelle via a premium Visa card from Chase, will it show up on my statement as a POS purchase or a cash withdrawal?
Thanks in advance

He mentioned he used Oreo. It shows up as a "money transfer" MCC, but most of our cards just ignore it (except for maybe a Denny's card).

God, how did I miss that?
Maybe it was edited later.
How can you tell which service corresponds to which MCC?
