Looks like your run-of-the-mill e-wallet, except for those ridiculous limits (not even $667 a month).

I’m not sure if that mWallet just copied all the fees straight from PayPal, but if they did, we’ve got a problem. For example:
Using payment cards abroad
1% of the transaction amount, with a 0.25 dollar minimum

By the way, that iPay guy also runs MoneySend, which lets you transfer funds from one Mastercard to another. It should work with American cards too, though the fees aren't exactly cheap—it's 3% with a $3.50 minimum...

Kevin Morris12 said:What happened with that Verizon Banking and Chase partnership they promised would be live by summer? Summer is officially here, yet we’re still waiting on those services 🤔
They even released a preview of what the new AT&T & Chase Mastercard will look like. It looks sharp, sure, but is Maestro really the best move for an online payment strategy? I assume that's their main goal since they keep bragging about how you won't have to step foot in a branch anymore. The problem is, Maestro isn't exactly a powerhouse for international e-commerce. You'll find it works fine locally, but once you try to use it on most US websites, you run into walls
It's a bit embarrassing because they were already overtaken by competitors in Romania a month ago. Their version of Verizon launched its own online banking suite, mimicking some of those trendy fintech startups, but they actually made the smart choice by opting for Mastercard instead
Regarding Telecommunications banking, I asked a few months back and got this response:
Dear Ms. ...,
Thank you for reaching out and expressing interest in our Telecommunications banking service.
The service is still in its pilot phase, and we expect it to be available to everyone by the end of summer.
This is a banking service designed to be simple, fast, and secure via a mobile app, featuring a wide array of banking products and services, backed by the extensive network of Citigroup branches and ATMs in America, along with web chat and the Citigroup call center.
Telecommunications banking represents the first collaboration of its kind between a telecom operator and a bank in the American market. The service will offer users the widest range of digital banking services in America, accessible to all smartphone users, with special perks available specifically to AT&T customers.
Sincerely,

So, it looks like it’s actually happening after all. That's great news.
If I were calling the shots, here is what I’d really want to see included in this service:
- A unique US routing number and account number for every user
- Free domestic wire transfers (both incoming and outgoing)
- Full Apple Pay support
But honestly? I have a nagging feeling they won't deliver on any of those three things.
At the end of the day, we desperately need more homegrown services like this. So many platforms are still geo-blocked, and we really need a reliable American card or bank account to bridge the gap where international services are currently lagging far behind.

I’m picturing this as a standard bank account, just streamlined through an online setup. Apparently, T-Mobile customers might get some perks—lower fees or something similar, I guess...
I’ve never been a big fan of Citigroup; the only thing they do well is that free Family plan my daughter uses. Otherwise, they’re pricey and their transaction processing is painfully slow. I’m really hoping this online version actually works and feels more like the other modern digital services we use today.

Given how much competition there is out there, if it’s gonna cost $0.33 a month, you might as well just lock the door right now. Only the free stuff stands a chance...

Regarding Telecommunications banking, some information has surfaced regarding fees that provide a clearer picture of what the service actually entails.

At first glance, nothing here seems particularly advantageous, let alone free. I suppose Citigroup customers will be better positioned to judge the value for themselves.

If I had to guess, the only "concrete" perk we’ll actually see is some free account—and even then, only if you’re already an AT&T customer.
Maybe they'll toss in some discounts on their own services to make paying bills slightly less painful.
Then there's the usual stuff: standard online banking and those fun little trips to the AT&T service centers (which are definitely going to be a blast now 😁).
Honestly, I don't see this being anything remotely better than what Citigroup offers.
Citigroup is running the show behind the scenes, and I highly doubt they'd ever agree to a partnership that lets AT&T start eating into their market share.

Seems pretty useless to me. A monthly fee of $6.75/month for AT&T customers, plus Magenta $3.25.
Unless I’m wrong and standing orders are included, there aren't any free transactions like you get with the Payment assistant and Lepeza.
In that case, the Payment assistant is clearly the better deal.
We should probably wait for more details before jumping to conclusions.

It’s actually pretty interesting that you get three free transactions at other banks' ATMs, both here in the States and abroad.

If you look at the fine print on page 12, it actually implies there are...
The fees under tariff items B5.1.2 and B5.1.3 for AT&T customers won't be charged for up to 3 monthly transactions using a US dollar checking account or savings account, provided they fall within the total number of free transactions allowed under the AT&T service terms.

Ahaaa. Well, that’s great then, though I just skimmed through it pretty quickly.
That would be fantastic.
$5.00No fees and free transactions? Not bad at all.

You'll end up with a checking account, a savings account, and maybe a foreign currency one—though you might just get one of them instead of all three, we'll see how it plays out...

A little OT, but am I seeing this right... is Citigroup actually starting to charge fees for cash withdrawals at the teller window?
