analogwalker2 said:I totally get it—the idea that paying bills without any fees won't last forever is perfectly reasonable! But, since they’re planning to start slapping on a $1.25 fee per account starting March 31st, why would I even bother with AirCash anymore? There are plenty of other options out there with much more reasonable rates.
If we were talking about a fee around 25 cents, fine, I could live with that... but 45 cents? That’s just getting ridiculous, isn't it?
Besides, most of my utility payments can be handled through the USPS without any extra charges at all!

Is this official? Does anyone have a link to the announcement?

So, I was just sitting here wondering, how do you guys actually handle getting payments from someone who doesn't use Cash App?

Not really, not at all.
But apparently, there's a workaround where you generate a cash payment code, snap a screenshot, and just send it over to whoever needs to cover you... then they use the code to pay.

Yeah, I've confirmed this works too.

Thanks so much for all the input, I think I'm actually going to give it a shot today and see how it goes.

One last thing though, just curious if I can add the card to Apple Pay?

Not yet, but it should be coming soon.

Top-ups work fine—you can just move money over to a Cookie or Chime if you grab one of their cards. They treat it like any other online purchase, so there aren't any fees right now. I've been using a Chime virtual card through Apple Pay to send cash to people without getting hit by those annoying PayPal fees. Then, at the end of the day, I just move it all back to PayPal the same way.

What I'm actually wondering about is whether PayPal might try to block these top-ups, since I’m basically just exploiting their free tier. I have this nagging feeling that if I keep shuffling money around like this, someone's gonna get annoyed and freeze my account. Plus, I've got no clue how the IRS would view these transfers being flagged as online payments. Like, if I theoretically moved a thousand bucks between PayPal and Chime a hundred times, would the IRS think I actually spent 100 $0.00.

The only reason I even bother with PayPal is because I'm mostly just depositing cash into it right now—I don't even have online banking with any of the big banks like Chase.

As long as you're moving money you can actually trace back to a legitimate source, you shouldn't have anything to worry about.
Though, for what it's worth, I haven't heard of anyone actually being grilled about that before.

Heading out to pay two bills—water and electricity. The electric bill goes through without a hitch, but when I try scanning the water bill, it fails. It keeps telling me the code is unrecognized.
I checked my Chase app and the code shows up perfectly fine there. Anyone have an idea what the catch is?

Sometimes the app just refuses to scan the 2D barcode on a payment slip. You can try taking a photo with your phone first and then uploading it directly from your gallery; that’s worked for me when live scanning fails...

Tried it. No luck. Support responded almost instantly, promising a fix in the very next update.

Has anyone else run into issues using their PayPal card for online shopping lately? I was trying to grab something through a link, but I tried twice and both times—nothing. It just wouldn't go through.

I think they’re using an AT&T gateway for their payment processing.

Even a few days ago, my Curve transaction got rejected—it was backed by a Diners Club card, and I even got that annoying notification saying I had to have Curve enabled.

Hi everyone,
I'm thinking about applying for a loan through Ally Bank, but they're asking to see three months of my transaction history. Since I tend to use AirCash quite frequently by moving funds from my checking account over to it, I was wondering if that might cause any issues. I suppose I'm just not entirely sure how banks view these types of digital wallets.

They’ll probably end up asking you for your Venmo statements. I mean, I had a ton of transactions on Cash App, so they ended up breathing down my neck for my records too.

I’ve got a Maestro debit card from Chase

Do you think they'll actually ask me for a 3D Secure verification when I make my very first payment? Honestly, I just really don't feel like heading down to the local branch to deal with the hassle of getting that activated right now, you know?

Most likely.
How do you still have a Maestro debit card at JPMorgan Chase when they phased those out ages ago? They've been using Visa for a long time now.

So, was depositing cash into PayPal through the Associated Press always free, or is this just some kind of "introductory period" thing before they start hitting us with fees?
