It’s probably smarter to just top up your balance on the app via Venmo first, then make the payment.
There's less room for error than trying to pull funds from two different accounts at once—Venmo and the app itself.

Look, there are probably smarter ways to handle this, but I was in such a rush to snag a better deal that I didn't give it much thought. 😛
Honestly, the security flaws in these apps are what really get to me. How does an unauthorized payment even slip through a system like Mastercard? Why did PayPal let it happen in the first place, and why on earth would Venmo cancel a transaction only to have it automatically retry a few days later without a single notification?

I’m relatively young, so I can navigate this digital mess somewhat easily, but imagine how overwhelming this would be for someone older. A legitimate, high-end application shouldn't have "better" or "worse" ways to operate—it should just work, flawlessly, every single time. And when things inevitably break, customer service should actually step up and fix it, rather than making you hunt them down like a detective.

The New York Times just became a new partner for Venmo. That means you can handle deposits, withdrawals, and even buy gift cards through the app.

Watch where you’re typing your info.

Update: Heads up on those fake text scams

We need to warn everyone about some fraudulent text messages going around. Scammers are spoofing PayPal's name, claiming your account has been locked to freak you out. These texts include links to fake websites designed to look exactly like PayPal to trick you into handing over your personal details and login credentials.

Let’s be clear: PayPal did not send these messages. This is a scam. Do not, under any circumstances, click those links in suspicious texts. If you see something, report it to customer service immediately.

PRO TIPS

1. Don't touch suspicious links in texts or emails—they lead to malware. Our official domain is @paypal.com. We aren't reaching out from random addresses.

2. Only ever enter sensitive data (like card numbers or CVV codes) directly inside your official PayPal app. Always.

3. Stop sharing your private info with anyone else.

4. If you think someone is trying to play you, contact PayPal customer service right away at: 1-800-555-0199 or via email at: info@paypal.com

What if I end up generating two or more cash payment codes? Like, can I just use the last one they gave me, or do the older ones still work? And do these codes actually expire after a bit or whatever?

I mean, I guess all those codes would probably pass without any issues at all

Sent them an email yesterday asking if I could send more than $667, since that’s what their site claims. Got a reply saying the limit per transaction is actually $1667, though I can run multiple transactions back-to-back.

Maybe they should consider updating the website. 👍

Cash App just teamed up with FedEx.

FedEx Express on Facebook:

If you're expecting a COD delivery, stop stressing about whether you have enough cash on hand. You can settle everything instantly through the PayPal system. Just use your Cash App digital wallet!
It’s easy. Top up your Cash App with a debit card in seconds. When the driver arrives with your package, they’ll show you a code. Scan it with your Cash App app, and boom—you’re done in two steps.

Cash App on Facebook:
New update! You can now pay for FedEx Express services directly through the Cash App!

Just load your Cash App using your bank card in a flash. When your package shows up, scan the code provided by the driver via your Cash App app. Two steps and you're finished.

So, what's the deal with the cheap parking situation? Was all that talk about how "this promotion will last a long time" or "we’ll bring back this deal soon" just a bunch of empty promises to lure us in?

Look, it was great while it lasted, and you shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth. Now you're basically getting a free pass on your bills—so just enjoy it while the window stays open.

Let's be real—they just pulled the wool over our eyes with those promises to bring the deals back. That's it. Maybe we'll get some random "National Parking Day" with a 20% discount once in a blue moon, but I'm not holding my breath for the old promo to return.
What really kills me is how they claimed they were cutting marketing costs to fund these actual customer perks, yet here they are, blowing cash on flashy ads on Meta during Major League Baseball games. Why the sudden pivot in strategy? And why on earth are we targeting baseball crowds now? 🤷

Being able to pay bills for free just by scanning a barcode makes installing this app worth it—if they actually keep it that way, it’s already a huge win.
It’s been running like this for almost six months now, so I guess we can hope it sticks, or maybe they'll eventually pivot to charging some tiny, symbolic fee if they decide to bring back those old charges.

As for the parking situation, I think we can all agree—it was pretty unrealistic to expect that to stay free forever.

Is there actually a limit on how much cash I can deposit in a single day? (I know one transaction usually tops out at $2k, but is it okay to just make multiple deposits?)

It could be more, but I'm not sure where the cap is.

I absolutely love the idea of building a homegrown fintech industry here in the States. There’s always going to be an advantage when a local player can offer niche features or better incentives than some massive global corporation that views us as just another statistic on a spreadsheet. However—and this is a big however—they really need to shake off that predatory "small-time lender" mentality. That desperate urge to squeeze every cent out of a customer by charging a fee for every single click in an app just won't fly. Years ago, I actually tried to get my hands on their card through DraftKings, but I ended up getting completely frozen out by a mountain of ridiculous service fees. I suspect it's the exact same story with the Chase Sapphire Card. Look, I get it; you need some revenue streams to stay afloat, but you can't tack a commission onto every little thing you do. If they're serious about competing in this space, they need to find some legitimate institutional backers. Why? Because in an era where there are hundreds of nearly free international fintech apps available, a local option that charges premium fees is practically invisible.

I don't really bother using the app much myself; I usually just log in once in a while to check my balance on my account

As long as we're still stuck using those old-school barcode payment slips, $0.00 I’d say getting everyone set up with an app was actually a pretty solid move.

Can an Aircash card be used for payments on PayPal?
I’m assuming the answer is no.

I don't see any reason why that wouldn't work. PayPal doesn't really have any specific restrictions on what kind of card you use.
