The lady over at the Social Security Administration claims she has no idea and tells me I should just ask PayPal instead.🤷👎
PayPal typically sends the verification code directly to the bank once registration is complete—then you just go pick up the code from them.
So, who exactly would PayPal be sending a code to here?
If they were actually competent, maybe the folks at the Social Security Administration would know how this works.

If you check under your transactions in the app, you'll probably see a "code" sitting there.

Apple Pay is being offered free of charge through March 31, 2022. 🕺 Otherwise, the fee remains $1.25 per transaction

If they had just integrated $0.67, people might have actually stuck with them because of how easy it would be to use. But as it stands, I’m heading right back to my regular banking app where $0.67 is the only fee.

👍Thanks.
I will give this a shot over the next few days.

It was nice while it lasted... and it's still going, for now.

I guess this means we’re headed right back to mailing checks for everything—at least for bill payments. Though, knowing how these companies work, they'll probably just hike up those service fees pretty soon anyway.

Just set up my Venmo mobile wallet about two weeks ago. Tested out one transfer and paid a small utility bill. Everything seemed fine. I was actually thinking about switching over to a more streamlined payment assistant, figuring I'd just handle all my bills through Venmo. Total scam. Whatever change I have left in there is just going toward my next electric bill, leaving me with $0.00. And then I'm done with Venmo.
Not dealing with their nonsense. Maybe I'll still use it for tolls, but they have their own app anyway, so I'll just pay with a credit card directly on the E-ZPass app.
I'm finished with this.🙂

What’s the fee on Venmo looking like lately—and what's actually gonna be the cheapest way to settle bills now?

I’m assuming the answer is no.

Oh, totally! I just added mine to my account without any drama, and it gave me the verification code right away—I just typed it in and boom, everything works perfectly fine!

Man, if they had just kept the price at two bucks, you know I would’ve stayed put... but instead, I'm heading back to Chase because of that 2.25 charge. Honestly though, I wouldn't be surprised if all those extra fees start creeping up—maybe even by another fifty cents or so eventually

You've got cash and Venmo for $0.67.

And Venmo just bumped their rate up to 2.25 recently too.

It’s all the same crap, honestly.
I pay my bills through Chime without any fees, and they clear the same day.
The only headache is nailing the exact amount since I'm dealing with currency conversions, so I just overpay by a bit to be safe.
They just credit the extra back to my next bill.

Quick question: if I’m paying off my bills using my Chase card, is there going to be some extra fee tacked on by the bank?

Wait, how are you paying with Chime? Are you talking about that method where you transfer funds to their Routing Number, similar to what works for EU accounts and Chase cards? I used to do something like that through PayPal... but isn't there only one free transfer allowed there now? 🤔

Yeah, that’s the payment method I mean. I think all transfers are free, but the catch is that Chime doesn't offer a free account anymore. Their cheapest option is Ally Bank at $2.99 a month.
It really depends on how you use the account and if you actually need it.
For me, the fees were worth it until now because the service was solid.
I'm keeping it specifically for the Maestro card; I need it for certain shops over in Germany.

I totally get it—the idea that paying bills without any fees won't last forever is perfectly reasonable! But, since they’re planning to start slapping on a $1.25 fee per account starting March 31st, why would I even bother with AirCash anymore? There are plenty of other options out there with much more reasonable rates.
If we were talking about a fee around 25 cents, fine, I could live with that... but 45 cents? That’s just getting ridiculous, isn't it?
Besides, most of my utility payments can be handled through the USPS without any extra charges at all!

Man, that sucks. Now I’ve gotta export all my transaction history just to move everything back over to Chase.
