I doubt it:

I remember back in the day, there was some kind of loophole or deal where you could hit up Chase ATMs and pull out cash without getting hit by fees, or maybe I was just using some specific Chase perk.
Maybe I totally misread the situation, though, or maybe they finally switched over to their own closed-loop system.

Based on this, it sounds like the card should work just fine when traveling abroad.

Then I load whatever amount of cash I want onto it.
Fine.
But how does the actual deposit process work?
And am I actually able to use this for my everyday expenses?

I'm curious about one thing...
Am I considered a cardholder rather than the actual owner?
What's the catch if there aren't any fees or hidden charges involved?

To get money on the card, you gotta have the Cash App installed on your phone. THAT'S where you type in the amount you wanna load, then you just show the clerk at the shop your barcode from the app. She scans it, you hand over the cash—obviously.

What's the catch? Honestly, there isn't one when it comes to this basic loading process. Who knows what happens later? I'm pretty much a total newbie myself. But so far, everything's been fast and smooth as hell.

Alright...
The whole point is that you aren't carrying physical cash around; you're using a card instead...
For people who don't have a traditional credit card, this provides a solid alternative.

Does that card require a PIN?

Yeah, it does.

I haven't been tracking the exact data, but I'd wager an incredibly small percentage of Americans don't own at least one type of card.

This card is a huge hit with anyone struggling with online payments or general shopping restrictions. Some banks still issue these clunky, limited protected account cards that lack basic functionality.
Some of them don't even offer mobile banking for paying bills or transferring money.
That’s why it’s such a lifesaver; people just take their paycheck from the bank and move some cash over to Cash App. It's incredibly easy to use.

Just a quick question for the group.

So, if I'm looking to top up my Cash App balance at a local convenience store kiosk, am I correct in thinking I don't actually need to have my physical card on me? My understanding is that as long as I jump into the app, type in the amount I want to load, and then just generate a code to show the clerk at the kiosk, I'm good to go? And more importantly, there aren't any extra fees tacked on for doing it that way, right?

Exactly.

In my opinion, the absolute best thing about this card/wallet

is how much I hate carrying physical cash.

It’s honestly been such a lifesaver lately because I had some extra cash sitting around, and since the lines at Chase have been absolutely ridiculous, this turned out to be the most painless way to say goodbye to my dollars—I managed to get it all sorted in about ten seconds flat.

Exactly! Almost zero wait time... I think I'll probably end up doing the same thing then.

You get a straightforward card for online shopping, which is something some banks still somehow struggle to figure out. For example, my bank actually blocked a payment to Amazon because they said, "we don't work with unreliable merchants." I ended up spending a few days arguing and escalating things through different levels of support just so I could spend ten bucks on Amazon.

Plus, since it isn't tied to your main checking account, there's less risk when you're browsing online. (There might be better ways to do this, like using Revolut where you can make one-time use cards, but Cash App is definitely safer than using a standard debit card.)

Also, sending and receiving money is instant, which is super handy if you need to venmo a friend, buy something on eBay, or receive a quick payment. (Again, there are probably better options out there—like Zelle, which works similarly but without the fees.)

And finally, there aren't any monthly fees, so it basically sits there and costs you nothing unless you actually decide to use it.

I'm wondering—once the new currency hits, will you still be able to deposit cash at gas stations directly into a Cash App account?

Payments are switching over to dollars, though you can still settle up with cash in whatever currency you've got on hand...

Figures. Exactly what I thought... great.

They'll just convert everything to dollars anyway—no real issue there. It'll be easy enough to dump the old currency...

If you’re planning on depositing coins at the Associated Press, the cap is $17.

Not $17, we're talking 50 pieces.

The lady told me there was a limit of $17 coins regardless of their denomination. I had 35 coins worth $1.75 each, and she tried to turn away 25 of them.

They really overpromised on Cash App. They claimed the app would be up 24/7, maybe just a few minutes of downtime around midnight, but that’s it. Now it’s almost 1 AM and it’s still down...
