Hey everyone,

I’m looking to connect with someone—perhaps someone just as solitary as I am—who would be interested in this kind of digital correspondence. Honestly, gender isn't a factor for me here.

I’m 30 years old. My days are mostly spent lost in a good book, catching a movie, or just taking long walks while enjoying my own company. To be blunt, I struggle with depression—it's a heavy weight to carry—and I’ve realized that engaging with another person might help shift my focus away from the constant loop of my own melancholy thoughts. That’s really why I’m posting this. While the idea of meeting up in person feels daunting and unlikely, I think we could find a certain solace in being "word nerds" together—just drifting through the sentences we send one another. As for the substance of our chats? I have little interest in the mundane "how was your day" small talk; I much prefer deep, philosophical tangents that lead absolutely nowhere. I tend to live without much of a roadmap for the future—call it a lack of perspective, if you will.

Anyway, I put some effort into putting this out there, so perhaps someone will actually see it.

Thanks for reading 🙂!

I just stumbled onto this recently, so I figured let's give it a shot 🙂

I’m thinking about bringing this over to the US too—no shade intended to anyone, really—and while I wouldn't call myself a super depressed person, I’m definitely not the life of the party... I don't have a huge circle of friends or even acquaintances to speak of, though honestly, I'm not even sure if I actually want them, but I guess sometimes you just have to fight against that urge to push everything away.

It’s kind of tough to get a real conversation going through messages on here, especially since we don't really know each other that well, you know? We don't know what people think about or what they're actually into...

I mean, I love my peace and quiet, and being alone is something I genuinely need sometimes, but I've realized I'm not exactly some lone wolf who can just cruise through life without any human connection at all :P

I'm in my mid-twenties, so if you happen to be around that age—I find it way easier to vibe with people 25 and up—and maybe you're somewhere near Mickey Mouse, well, there's no guarantee we'll ever actually meet up, but I'm not exactly a coward either. It just gets a bit tricky when you live on the other side of the country.

Any experience shared is a good one, and a little bit of chatting doesn't hurt to get things moving 🙂

Hi everyone 🙂
I'm looking for someone for some casual virtual chatting. Gender doesn't really matter to me, though I tend to find it a bit easier to connect with guys... what matters most is that you actually enjoy both talking and listening (in this case, writing and reading). I value honesty above all else—just be your genuine self. Ideally, I’d love to meet someone 25 or older (though honestly, the more experience, the better :P). As for me, I'm a pretty communicative, upbeat person. In my downtime, I love getting lost in a good book, catching a movie, challenging myself with a few puzzles, or just heading outdoors. So, that's me in a nutshell. If anyone is looking for some company to pass the time, feel free to reach out! 🙂

Hey everyone. I’m turning 25 this January, currently living in Washington, D.C., and looking to grab a coffee or get out and do something real with someone—ideally in person. Back in school, I was pretty quiet, definitely one of those people who lived entirely in their own head. It’s been about five years since then, so I’ll leave it to you to decide who I am now, though I personally feel I’ve opened up quite a bit. Then again, I could easily be wrong about that too. For what it's worth, I consider myself cultured, easygoing, and intelligent, so we should have plenty to talk about without much effort. One thing you should know, though: I value honesty above almost everything else. I can't stand lying or games. My personal philosophy is simple: be your true self with friends and partners, but stay professional and play the part when you're at work. Career-wise, I work as a freelance 3D designer and run a YouTube channel, and I might dive into Twitch soon. 😉

So, like I mentioned, I’m looking for company, preferably someone in the D.C. area or nearby. I already have two solid male friends who I know I can count on, which is plenty for me right now. What I’m actually looking for is a female friend to hang out with—though I'm open to male friends as well, provided they aren't just looking to use me or play mind games. I'm looking for mutual effort.

So, I'm 25, living in Washington, D.C., and my current circle is basically dissolving because everyone's suddenly "finding themselves" or whatever—different interests, different vibes, blah blah blah. So, yeah, I'm looking for some new blood. Honestly? I don't care if you're a guy or a girl. What I *really* want is someone completely irresponsible, a bit immature, and someone who puts material things above everything else. Basically, someone who’s constantly wasted and needs to be the loudest person in the room just to feed that massive ego.

I've got a thing for practical philosophy and psychology—it keeps my brain from melting—but you can also find me catching a movie or losing track of time in a club. If you're down for that kind of chaos and you're within about 4 years of my age, hit me up.

Hey everyone. 🙂

I'm a 27-year-old guy from the East Coast, just looking for some women to chat with—nothing heavy, mostly just looking for "friendship." I'm pretty introverted, even though my job keeps me surrounded by people all day. Most of my old friends have moved away to other cities or are tied up with girlfriends. Honestly, I'm going through a bit of a slump right now—feeling kind of depressed and unmotivated. I want someone to talk to about relationship drama, TV shows, movies, or music. Basically, just someone to pass the time with over a drink. When I'm not stuck in my head, I like being outdoors, staying active, and listening to alternative music. Not much else to say, really. People think I'm a weirdo because my friend list on Facebook is pretty small 😳 I’m actually a great guy, people just don't seem to catch on. 🕺

Is there anyone here who’s a little bit off? Maybe someone who feels totally out of sync with everyone else, always the odd one out, just... different? I’m looking to trade stories. I need someone I can actually vent to—someone to dump all this weight onto that's been suffocating me for years. Someone with actual tolerance for people who don't fit the mold, someone who won't judge, someone who’s just willing to listen.

And before you get any ideas, I’m not looking for anything deep or romantic. Let’s be real: you can’t find that kind of connection online. It always ends in a total mess once you start talking long enough, getting to know the details, getting attached... it always goes south.

I just want a space where we can unload our secrets and our problems and try to actually understand one another. Honestly, I’m ready to lay everything bare to a complete stranger because I am absolutely fed up with living like this.

Reposting this.

If you have zero or maybe two posts, don't bother showing up. I consider you trolls who are just bored with life and lurking for kicks.

Hey everyone. 🙂

I know nobody wants to slog through a massive wall of text, so I’ll keep this super short...

I'm looking for something a little different for this sub.

I want to find some people to hang out with during Christmas in Washington, D.C. (and maybe after, if we vibe).

After spending four long years working abroad, I finally moved back home. But honestly? Most of my old friends have either started families, moved away, or just gone totally MIA. It's making me realize that the holidays might end up being the loneliest time of year if I don't change things up.

So, I figured I'd check here to see if anyone else loves the downtown vibes this time of year but is dealing with the same thing (I'm guessing there are plenty of us 🙂 ).

That's really it. No specific criteria—male, female, age, doesn't matter. I just want good company to grab a hot dog or some pancakes with, have some fun conversations, and just soak up the atmosphere.

Thanks in advance to anyone who reaches out!

To put it simply: I'm looking for someone to head to the movies with, maybe grab a coffee beforehand so we can actually get to know one another...
E: We could catch the film Miracle, and I'll happily cover the tickets if the other person wouldn't mind picking up the tab for our coffee later on..

I’m really looking to meet some new people out here in Washington, D.C.

My main goal is just basic socialization—meeting new folks, hanging out, maybe catching a movie or something similar now and then. I don't really want to set any strict boundaries when it comes to age or gender, as long as it doesn't make communicating a total nightmare (for instance, I can't really picture myself grabbing coffee with someone who's only 13. There's no upper limit on my end, either, since I figure anyone too old probably wouldn't even know how to log onto a forum🧐).

If it matters, I don't have any medical diagnoses.

Washington, D.C., ..Man, 39 years old. Life just kind of pushed everyone in different directions—people drifted apart after the war, had to find new circles, grab jobs out of state, or just start families elsewhere.
All that stuff probably leaves some kind of emotional or mental scar on you, I guess. You gotta figure out how to deal with it and move forward, whether that's solo or with someone... dealing with depression, isolation, and just feeling lost in the shuffle.

I’m here because I actually want to find a solid, interesting friend under 40—someone I could be in regular contact with, meet up with, maybe hit some trails or just get the hell out of the city and into nature.
Obviously, that person needs to be understanding, since everyone's got their own baggage, right? We all need support, and I'm looking for that mutual thing where we actually back each other up... Someone chill, but who can also speak their mind about their life and how they see the world.

I don't want any awkwardness, misunderstandations, or weird games. Just someone who’s a good listener and ready to actually hear my side too. I'm not really into outbursts—I'm pretty understanding and everything can be worked out if both people are actually down to make it happen.
We all need smart, interesting people around us. If you don't have that through family or luck, you end up turning to strangers to build a foundation for what comes next. It isn't easy, but let's be real—nobody shows up here just out of curiosity. We're here because we need to find someone to build our own little world with.

Girl, early twenties, living in Washington, D.C. I’m mainly looking for someone to chat with online, though I wouldn't rule out meeting up later on if the vibe is right. Honestly, I prefer introverts. I’m really into people who actually have a sense of humor and a bit of sarcasm—people who don't take themselves too seriously but can actually step up and be serious when life gets heavy. I need someone empathetic and loyal. Maybe you're going through a rough patch right now? That's fine, as long as you haven't lost your spark or your optimism. I just want someone I can be my 100% unfiltered self with, without worrying about being judged. I am so over all the fake, superficial people in my life...
Whether you have a diagnosis or not doesn't matter to me at all. Gender doesn't matter either. Looking for someone up to about 26.

👋

Girl, 19, Washington, D.C.
Looking for some friends—gender doesn't really matter to me, and I'm not too hung up on age either, though I guess someone under 30 would be nice. <30
I’m pretty chill living here in D.C., but honestly, I feel a bit out of place sometimes, so I'd love to make some new connections or just find some people to hang out with. I don't have any diagnoses (that I'm aware of 😁), but I like to think I'm a pretty open person and a decent shoulder to cry on. I'm fine with starting things online, but I'd definitely prefer to actually meet up in person for coffee or a movie eventually.
Being an introvert is actually a plus.

Hey, I'm a 22-year-old girl living in Savannah. I don't really have many friends right now, mostly because I'm pretty shy when meeting new people—it usually takes me a little while to relax and find things to talk about. I'm just looking for someone to chat with online, and maybe eventually get to know some new people that way. I'm not looking for a boyfriend, and I'd prefer to talk to people under 27.

Male, 33. Living in Savannah, keeping things low-key. People around me constantly tell me I’m "unadjusted." Honestly, my anxiety stems from being too empathetic and perhaps a bit naive. How do I put it? I’ve seen enough of life that very little shocks me anymore. What I can’t stand, though, is the constant whining, the self-pity, the frustration, the hate, and the envy. A colleague—the only one I really talk to—put it bluntly: these are people who don't read, don't watch films, don't educate themselves, and just recycle the same tired grievances. I've dealt with types like that at work for ten years. The repetition, the prejudices, the forced opinions... it's exhausting. When a problem arises, I face it and deal with it.
I also have a brother who lives with a 100% disability; because of him, I learned patience, tolerance, and empathy. I tend to be emotionally transparent. If I'm struggling, I show it. If I'm in high spirits, I'm genuinely cheerful and engaging.
The reason people claim I’m not "adult" enough or that I live in a fantasy world—and why I feel no need to prove myself to them—is my passion for movies, books, comics, and gaming. That's what I do when I'm off the clock. When I have responsibilities, I handle them. Otherwise, I love nature, walking, gardening, and being outdoors during the spring. And yes, I enjoy long-form writing. I have zero interest in perfectionism, Instagram stories, clout, or the curated lives of celebrities. I'm too much of a realist for that. My inspiration comes from reading and imagination. I gravitate toward fictional characters who believe in love, friendship, peace, and helping others. Don't worry, though; I don't actually believe in ghosts, vampires, or ancient curses. It's just a hobby...
People think I'm withdrawn, but how do I explain that I simply don't want to be a nuisance? I dislike having to pull words out of people. Then again, I've met plenty of strangers where we end up talking as if we've known each other for a century.
I have my own burdens, and I have no intention of suffocating you with them. Your problems don't bother me; I'll help however I can. I'm an understanding person, but please, if you've just escaped a long marriage or a relationship, or if you find it difficult to talk about yourself because you're lonely, don't reach out. I'm not the type to shut myself away in four walls. I can handle almost anything on my own, no matter how tired I am.
Through this, I'm looking for a man or a woman for companionship. I'm not seeking a relationship, just friendship. I'm based in Savannah, so I'm looking for someone local, though Washington, D.C. is also accessible. We can start by messaging to get to know one another. Age isn't a factor for me; I care about character. I still believe in people, despite everything, and surely there is someone out there looking for relaxed company. Someone I can learn from. Someone I can debate with. You can decide for yourself afterward whether I'm truly unadjusted or just deeply feeling...

Male, 28 years old. (88), straight and looking for people with the same orientation. I don't have any official diagnosis or anything, but honestly? I’m pretty antisocial right now. Maybe it’s depression, maybe I’m just exhausted from not sleeping enough. Who knows?

I'm basically just looking for some solid friends—someone chill, non-judgmental, and roughly my age (give or take 2 or 3 years). Ideally someone living near Newark, but I'm down to meet up if you're in Washington, D.C. too.
We could jump on Zoom, text, WhatsApp, or just grab coffee in person. Looking for good conversation, maybe hitting some light sports for fun, playing some PS3 online every now and then (anyone still down for BF3 co-op?), or even finding someone to hit up a New Year's Eve party with.
