Thoughts on Thor: Love and Thunder?

Honestly, even if they don't drop a single trailer or some fancy marketing campaign, I’m grabbing my tickets on day one 🙂🙂 I just live for anything the studio puts out—I mean, Thor: Ragnarok was easily one of the best Marvel movies ever made, so I can already tell this one is going to be a total blast 🍿🍿

So, the first character renders (the action figures) just dropped, and we’re already having issues with Gorr.
There’s a massive disconnect between how they look in the comics versus the movies. I don't quite get why they opted for such a generic aesthetic.

That seems to be one of the things the MCU has been pushing lately, especially since Phase 4 started. It’s either a hyper-realistic suit or something totally basic. There isn't really a middle ground...



By the looks of it, the trailer is finished. Now we're just waiting on a release date.

From left to right—Star-Lord, Thor (in a different suit), Gorr, Groot, Ravager Thor, Mighty Thor (Jane), and Valkyrie.

Character descriptions:

Ravager Thor—Thor wields the powerful Stormbreaker while fighting off a new enemy.
Gorr—Carries a strange, terrifying weapon. Gorr won't let anyone stand in his way.
Mighty Thor—Jane Foster's life changes unexpectedly when she picks up Mjolnir, granting her Thor's power.
Valkyrie—When an unknown visitor threatens the peace of her small town, she picks up her sword once again to defend it.

Not necessarily. But looking through some comic wikis, I’m seeing quite a few connections. Knull’s Necrosword seems to be linked to Hela’s helmet in the MCU, which lets her summon those ice weapons.

Then there's Dane Whitman, aka the Black Knight—he ends up coming into contact with the Ebony Sword at the end of Eternals. In the comics, Knull definitely knows about that blade.

And from what I've gathered in the books, Knull went to war with a Celestial and decapitated him because he was messing with his realm in the Dark Void. That head actually became Knowhere. Just a "TIL" moment for me. 🙂

It feels like everything is heading toward either a hint in Thor 4 or setting things up for Eternals 2. Guardians 3 will probably have a different villain entirely, totally separate from the Eternals or Thor stuff.

From what I can see, Kang is going to be the major antagonist, and the Multiverse plotline will likely carry through several movies. Plus, I suspect we’re going to see some wild stuff in the second season of Loki. 🙂

Teaser

Not sure how to put this—the humor feels a little forced to me

It doesn't quite hit that same epic level we saw with the first Ragnarok trailer.
I suppose it'll end up being one of those typical feel-good movies.
I can't tell if Portman actually bulked up or if it’s just some kind of visual trickery. I noticed Mjolnir looks like it was cobbled together from scraps, too. 😁

Was I expecting a superior trailer following that phenomenal announcement for Thor: Ragnarok? Perhaps. This is merely a teaser, yet it feels cluttered with everything under the sun—and the CGI looks strange, almost unfinished. Does the trailer itself feel like nothing more than a parody of Thor?

The teaser didn't really give us anything to work with—honestly, I don't even feel the need to see the movie.🤣

The trailer was honestly nothing special... The only highlight for me was seeing the Guardians. As for the official poster? Absolutely hideous.

Big fan of Thor, can't wait to see it.
