Hey everyone! We’re putting together a pub quiz centered around the Marvel Cinematic Universe. If you think you've got what it takes, come hang out with us on June 2nd at 7:00 PM at the Cherry Tree Cafe (located right inside the local community theater downtown). It should be a blast! For all the details, just check out the announcement here:

This honestly doesn't look good.
And if they go ahead and kill him off—since it says there WAS a god now—just to swap him out for some female version, I guess I'm officially done with Marvel.

This honestly doesn't look good...
Especially if they actually kill him off—you know, that "There WAS a god" trope—just to swap him out for some female version. If that happens, I think I'm officially done with Marvel for good...[/I]

I mean, imagine having an ego so fragile that a woman being in the lead actually bothers you.

The movie looks incredible, though. Thank God Taika managed to breathe some life back into the franchise, because if they’d just kept riding that first Thor and Thor: Dark World vibe, nobody would have given a damn about him anymore...

This gives me major "What If...?" vibes, and honestly, it’s kind of creeping me out. Seeing something like this played out in live-action feels like way too much. It works fine for animation, but for a real-life action movie? Not so much.

At the same time, we basically have Ragnarok II on our hands. Let me break it down: Thor goes on an adventure, meets someone from his past, they start a new journey, Thor gets trapped on another world, and there's some prophecy waiting to take him out (Surtur, Gorr). All that's missing is a tie-in to the next big MCU spectacle—back then it would've been Avengers III with Thanos showing up, but now they could probably pivot toward something involving Secret Wars. I'm not expecting Kang, though.

We saw Thor and Jane walking hand-in-hand in black and white, and I'm just saying.

Hmm, so Gorr kills gods. Is that right? Wait, isn't T'Challa basically the god of Wakanda? Or maybe I'm misinterpreting things—maybe Gorr is just targeting those celestial types like Zeus or Thor...

What bothers me is when a woman just takes over someone else's role instead of carving out her own path.
The hammer is there, the uniform is there—great, everything's ready, all we need now is a red carpet.

The whole thing about Spider-Man or Iron Man is that they built their own reputations—they actually made the tech, designed the suits, studied the science themselves.

It’s not that I think women can’t be heroes, it’s more that I wish they’d be original and actually try to make a name for themselves instead of just slapping a "-woman" suffix onto a superhero title.
Like Natasha Romanoff, Storm, Valkyrie, or Gamora, for example.

Wow, what a load of absolute nonsense. This is honestly painful to read.
You’re just parroting YouTube propaganda like a parrot.
Nothing in this world is truly "original," not even a superhero like Thor.
The idea that male superheroes are somehow "original" while female ones aren't is easily the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard from those YouTube whiners, and now these brainless parrots are just repeating it everywhere they go.

This woman isn't replacing Thor; the entire plot of the movie is that she was granted Thor's powers, which is written right there on the hammer.

Gorr kills any god unfortunate enough to cross his blade. T'Challa isn't a god; he isn't even a divine avatar like Moon Knight. The Panther Goddess acts as the protector of Wakanda, granting a chosen individual powers comparable to Captain America, while the high-tech suit handles the rest.
And yes, maybe he'll kill her too. 😁
There is no prophecy involved here.

Did I just go ahead and list the actual heroines in my last sentence? I guess. Maybe. 🙏
That’s how you build a legitimate female superhero arc. You don't do it by just slapping some anatomical nonsense or unnecessary cleavage onto a suit designed for the male gaze. It shouldn't be about that.

Honestly, just thinking about names like Wonder Man or Cat Man makes me cringe. It sounds so incredibly stupid. I guess if you flipped the script on those roles, people would just call them hacks and total rip-offs. Maybe.

Good grief. 🤣I guess I just assumed Marvel had their own cheap knockoff version of a DC icon, kind of like how they basically ripped off Deathstroke to make Deadpool.

Look, no superhero is truly "original." Every single one is just a remix of ancient myths, most of which were first written down in Ancient Greece. The point is, the world was centered entirely around male action until pretty much now, so we ended up with mostly male heroes being recycled all the way from those old legends to Iron Man or Spider-Man. A female Thor or a female Spider-Man isn't any less original than the guys, and it's definitely not like the male heroes "built their own fame" from scratch.

Can you give me an example of Spider-Man in Greek mythology? Or Jewish? Egyptian? Sumerian?
Maybe Spider-Woman? 🍿

Gorr looks questionable, though at the 1:13 mark, he’s giving off total Christian Bale vibes. Perhaps they simply underused the black greasepaint. 😁

It seems they intentionally made both the teaser and the trailer feel more lighthearted and whimsical. Their goal? To mask the darker, more serious moments.

So far, I haven't seen anything that would lead me to conclude this is actually bad. 🤷

Spider-Woman is actually a distinct character with her own unique powers—she’s pretty cool.
Then there's Ironheart. She's a young woman who scavenged some older Iron Man tech to build her own suit before Tony Stark eventually noticed her and granted her access to his advanced technology.
So, by that logic, that character isn't original at all.

I'm fine with everything except Gorr. He looks like Christian Bale wearing a bit of makeup, LOL. Maybe they ran out of budget by the time they got to his costume. ☕

Thanks. I haven't been able to focus properly since my first shift ended. This guy is the King of Wakanda, not a god. My mistake, sorry. And right now, Wakanda doesn't have any active protector in the MCU; we haven't seen Bast or Sekhmet actually interact with the heroes. We've only seen the afterlife, which suggests Bast and Sekhmet just watch over souls and apparently don't care to meddle with the real world.

Like someone already pointed out, you're drinking way too much of that incel YouTuber Kool-Aid. Just admit you're bothered by seeing women in positions of power. Sorry, but neither I nor probably 70% of Marvel fans WANT to sit through twenty movies featuring the exact same hero. They retired Iron Man, now Spider-Man's taking over. They retired Captain America, now we've got Falcon and Winter Soldier. It's time to retire Thor too, and he'll be succeeded by THE MIGHTY THOR—and strangely enough, I don't see any "-woman" attached to that name...

Oh, and by the way, you guys clearly haven't heard that Valkyrie has been confirmed as bisexual and they're actually going to touch on that in the movie... I honestly can't wait to watch your little incel meltdowns hit the internet this July.☕☕☕

The issue isn't really the movies themselves, but rather the phases. We were always waiting for something. In Phase One, the peak was Avengers. In Phase Two, it was Avengers 2 along with Ant-Man closing things out. Phase Three was literally the Infinity Saga.

During that stretch, Woke culture and SJW movements emerged, which started tearing down major film franchises. Brie Larson playing Carol—Captain Marvel—really opened Pandora's box. That’s when the MCU started to fracture; before that, I honestly didn't run into nearly this much noise regarding female heroes. On the contrary, people used to ask why we didn't have more of them. Now that we are getting female leads, everyone starts nitpicking every little detail.

This fourth phase is struggling because there’s just no hype, so the audience gets restless and starts looking for something to latch onto. Then they get lost and end up falling back into those same old SJW and Woke arguments. The MCU's biggest mistake was hyping up the Multiverse first, and then Kang second. We haven't even seen Kang in the movies yet, yet Doctor Strange was somehow involved in two whole Multiverse arcs that weren't even the kind of stakes we saw in the Loki series. That massive invasion in the finale wasn't even properly set up in a single movie.

I'm fine with these female leads: Kate is great, Chavez is solid, Mighty Thor is cool, She-Hulk is fun...

Like, 99% of TV shows feature lesbians now (not gay guys, because people find it easier to brag about being "woke" when it's women). Nobody is even coming up with this stuff anymore; it’s just following a tired trend.
In Marvel movies, though, they keep the lesbian characters super brief, which is smart because it lets them easily cut those parts out for the Chinese market. 😒

Basically, it’s just massive hypocrisy if you actually look at the data. There are almost twice as many gay men in the population compared to lesbians, yet there are like ten or fifteen times more lesbians appearing in these series.

Before becoming a Marvel comic character, Ironheart was essentially the Japanese adult movie version of Iron Man.

The Mighty Thor—so she stole the name too, then. 😛

We already know about Valkyrie. The actress has mentioned it before.

Seriously, does anyone here actually know how to read?
Are you trying to tell me Black Widow isn't in a position of power?
What about Gamora?
Or Storm?
God, give me a break.😵
It's time to retire Thor, and he's being succeeded by THE MIGHTY THOR—I don't see a "woman" anywhere in that.

Either he didn't read what was written, or he's taking everything literally, but somehow reading what's actually on the screen is just too much work for him.
She literally took his name.😵
It’s not Mighty Jane, it’s not Thunder Jane, it’s Thor—the well-known superhero.
Just another easy way to hijack all the superhero glory without doing any of the actual heavy lifting.
