As long as it’s at least on par with Thor: Ragnarok, I’ll be happy.

I mean, Ragnarok was decent enough—I guess—but that other installment, The Dark World? That was just a total disaster.

Hey everyone! We’re putting together another pub quiz, this time focusing on The Marvel Cinematic Universe . If you think you can outsmart the competition, come join us on June 8th at 7:00 PM at the Cherry Tree Cafe (located right inside the local community theater downtown). It’s going to be a blast! For all the details, just check out the announcement here:

There’s been this version of the leaked plot for floating around on Twitter for a while now. It’s popping up on a ton of accounts, which makes it feel pretty consistent and likely accurate. This all started circulating right after the red carpet premiere.

I'm shouting this in bold letters!!!

The movie kicks off with a mission involving Thor and the Guardians of the Galaxy, but afterward, Thor gets dumped in a place that looks a lot like some kind of rehab center. That’s where he finally reunites with Korg after a long time.

Jane, who is dealing with a tumor, visits New Asgard. Mjolnir, having been shattered, senses her presence and pulls itself back together. When Jane picks up Mjolnir, she becomes the female Thor. These powers stop her from feeling the weakness caused by the tumor, but they drain her human form, which actually just speeds up the tumor's growth.

Meanwhile, Gorr is searching for the God of Eternity because he lost his family and needs help. Since he can't find anyone at the place he visits, he comes across a sword capable of killing gods, so he swears an oath to kill every god he encounters.

Thor heads back to Earth and finally reunites with Jane after all this time—and of course, Valkyrie too. He tells them about the chaos Gorr is causing, and they decide to warn Zeus. They go to see him, only to discover he isn't much of a god at all, just a vessel of pure madness and malice. They barely escape after a fight, and Valkyrie manages to swipe Zeus's lightning.

Thor finds out about Jane’s tumor and begs her to stop using the Thor powers because it's killing her. She refuses, though, saying the powers provide an escape from the sad reality of living with her illness.

The three of them—Thor, Jane, and Valkyrie—go to confront Gorr. During the battle, Jane accidentally destroys Mjolnir and passes away. Seeing what he's done, Gorr decides to end his bloody crusade; in the process, his daughter is brought back to life, and Gorr dies from his wounds.

Thor meets Gorr’s daughter, and they head off on new adventures.

End of movie.

First post-credit scene: Zeus is furious with Thor, so he teams up with Hercules to hunt him down and kill him (maybe a hint for Thor 5?).

Second post-credit scene: Heimdall greets Jane in Valhalla.

It doesn't sound bad. A little cliché, maybe, but I think it'll be fun.

I’ve been reading through everyone's impressions of this, and honestly, it’s exactly what I expected from Taika. The humor feels way too heavy-handed at times; it really interrupts the flow of several scenes. I actually think Gorr is one of the strongest villains we've seen in Phase 4, but even then, it feels like Taika didn't quite lean into that potential. And Korg's jokes? Just felt unnecessary...

One reviewer actually nailed it when they said: "If you loved Ragnarok, you’re going to have a blast with this one. But if Ragnarok wasn't your thing? Well, you're probably going to hate this even more."

This might actually be one of the standout films of 2022.

I actually thought Thor: The Dark World was great.

Look, hands down the best MCU flick in this current era. NWH and Love and Thunder are basically the peak of what Marvel can pull off right now.

The cinematography 🙏 the cast 🙏 Christian Bale 🙏 the whole story 🙏 Taika Waititi 🙏 it was just... perfect, perfect, perfect. I’m gonna stop talking before I start tripping out... Also, those post-credits scenes 🙏 🙏 🙏 honestly, it still blows my mind how the MCU manages to land actors of that caliber 🙏

On another note—and I mean this—if you’re the type to crawl into the review sections after the movie just to spew misogyny, homophobia, or racism, then do us all a favor and stay away. Thanks. If you actually have an issue with any of those topics, just don't go see the damn movie.

Look, I’ll just say this once so I don't have to repeat myself: if you're going to clog up the reviews with misogyny, homophobia, or racism after watching this movie, then just don't watch it. Seriously. If you've got a problem with any of those topics, stay home.

Is Hollywood trying to lecture us again? 🤦
I mean, god, if I actually wanted an education, I’d sit through some boring documentary instead of a supposedly "unserious" sci-fi action flick.

Like, when I'm watching The Shawshank Redemption, I'm not sitting there thinking, "Oh my god, Morgan Freeman is Black." 😲 🙏

Honestly, from everything I've been reading on these boards lately, it seems like some people are totally obsessed with this stuff... they're so wrapped up in their own weird grievances that they can't even just enjoy a movie. It's not like the film is hyper-fixated on it, but hey, the title literally is *Love and Thunder*—so just a heads-up for the guys planning to have a total meltdown in their reviews here... if you can't handle a story about characters actually feeling something, maybe just don't watch it.☕☕

Man, it’s wild—I literally just walked out of the theater and I feel like we watched two completely different movies. But hey, whatever, I guess it's one of those "to each their own" situations, and honestly, I'm glad you actually had a good time. As for me? Yeah, I was pretty damn disappointed.

Before I headed to the theater, I only checked out the first trailer—I had a vague idea of the cast and some basic plot points, but I wasn't exactly riding a hype train or setting any massive expectations. Honestly, I just wanted to get a handle on who Gorr was and what his whole character arc was going to be about so I wouldn't be totally lost when things started happening.

Alright, let me break this down exactly how I saw it going down:

Potential spoilers ahead—consider this your official warning.

So, his introduction to Gorrom was honestly a total disaster—super shallow, incredibly cheap, and felt like a bad parody of what it should’ve been. Just a complete joke.
Honestly, the entire first half of the movie plays out like one giant, unintentional parody—it’s just ridiculous.
Man, this forum is getting ridiculous—seriously, people need to chill because everyone's constantly nitpicking every single little detail of the plot like they're some high-brow film critics.
Honestly, the whole situation regarding the Portman Fund is just a total clusterfuck—nothing but a massive, disorganized mess.
Gorr’s entrance later on? Absolutely top-tier. Seriously, that actor absolutely crushed it—he’s playing in a completely different league than everyone else in this thing.
Man, Thor has officially regressed back to being that total airhead from the first movie—it’s honestly painful to watch. There isn't a single trace left of the absolute badass we saw during Infinity War or Endgame. He went from being a powerhouse to this confused mess, and I am just not buying it.
That whole "gathering of the gods" thing is just so laughably bad—like, it’s such a pathetic parody that I don't even know where to start. Seriously, I'm speechless.
Honestly, the absolute peak of that movie—the part I actually lived for—was that black-and-white sequence. No gimmicks, no flashy nonsense, just straight-up eerie vibes, top-tier acting, pure tension, and visual perfection. If the whole damn film had leaned into that tone instead of trying to chase that shallow "TikTok aesthetic," it would’ve been an absolute masterpiece.
That scene near the end where the kids from Asgard start brawling? Total joke. It completely nuked any sense of credibility for Gorr—it made his whole thing, all those monsters he summoned, and his entire "menacing villain" persona feel absolutely pathetic. Like, seriously, what were they even doing?
Well, that’s the end of it. Honestly, I get why Miller made the call—I really do—but man, that whole final act was just painful to watch. The acting? Total snooze fest. It felt so forced and wooden, it actually made me feel a little sick.
Man, that mid-credit scene... honestly, I just hope to god we don't get a sequel to that mess—or if we do, at least let's pray they don't let this exact same crew touch the project again.
Honestly, that whole end credits scene? Total nothingburger. I felt absolutely zero emotion—just straight-up indifference. Like, I was sitting there staring at the screen waiting for a spark, but there was just nothing. Zero. Zilch.
Honestly, the way they’re shoving this whole LGBT agenda down everyone's throats lately? It’s getting ridiculous—just constant, relentless pushing at every single turn.

Here’s the definitive ranking, from absolute GOAT status down to the total garbage tier:

Ragnarok. That’s it. That’s the whole damn thing. Everything we thought we knew—all the rules, the systems, the absolute chaos we've been dealing with—it's all just heading straight for the end of the world. It’s not even a slow decline anymore; it's the big, messy, total collapse. Honestly? I’m kind of ready for it. After watching everything fall apart piece by piece, you start to realize that sometimes the only way to fix a broken system is to let the whole thing burn down to the ground first. Grab your popcorn, folks, because the endgame is officially here.
I mean, let’s be real for a second—Thor 1 was a total trip. I don't know if anyone else felt this way, but looking back at it now? It's such a weird, specific vibe. You’ve got all that heavy-handed mythology being thrown around, trying to act all epic and grand, while the actual pacing feels like it’s dragging its feet through a desert in Arizona. It’s one of those movies where you find yourself sitting there—probably with a massive bucket of popcorn from Cinema City—just waiting for the next big explosion to distract you from the fact that the plot is thinner than a slice of deli ham. And don't even get me started on the dialogue. It tries so hard to be "godly" and profound, but half the time it just sounds like someone reading a high school textbook about Norse myths with way too much unearned confidence. It’s definitely an experience, though—if your idea of a good time is watching flashy CGI fight against a script that clearly needed another three rewrites. Just my two cents.
So, I finally sat down to watch *Thor: Love and Thunder*, and man... where do I even start? Honestly, if you were expecting a coherent follow-up to the first one, you might want to brace yourself for impact. It’s like someone took the hammer and just smashed the script into a million pieces before filming. Look, I get it—it’s Marvel. We know the drill. They want the laughs, they want the flashy CGI, and they want us to feel something between the explosions. But this felt less like a movie and more like a fever dream induced by way too much espresso. The humor? It’s hit or miss, and mostly misses. It feels like they’re trying so hard to be "wacky" that it loses all the charm the earlier movies had. You know, that weirdly sweet balance of epic stakes and actual heart? Yeah, that's gone. Replaced by constant quips that land with a thud. And don't even get me started on the villain. Christian Bale is an incredible actor—seriously, the guy can do anything—but even he couldn't save this character from feeling like a cartoonish afterthought. It’s just... it's a lot. Too much color, too much noise, and not enough substance. I’m making a flat-out call here: if you’re looking for a deep dive into Norse mythology or even a solid superhero journey, look elsewhere. This is basically a high-budget fever dream designed to sell lunchboxes. Don't get me wrong, the visuals are pretty, but I've seen better special effects in a mid-tier sci-fi show on Netflix. At the end of the day, it's fine if you just want to turn your brain off for two hours, but if you actually care about storytelling? Well, grab some popcorn and prepare to be underwhelmed.
4. Love & Thunder

Honestly, looking at this whole new era of movies, the only thing that actually sucked more than this was *Black Widow*—and that’s saying something. This one is sitting pretty at dead last for me.

Look, I’ve sat through every single MCU movie—like, multiple times now—and even though I haven't actually cracked open a comic book in my life, I can tell you this for a fact: I am absolutely hooked on both the MCU and the DCU universes.

Final verdict—it’s a solid, if slightly underwhelming, 6/10.

I was going to comment on how surprised I was that you didn't like it since Ragnarok is my favorite too, but then I read that last bullet point and now everything makes sense. Like I said before, if you aren't into the characters' love stories being center stage, you probably shouldn't bother watching this.☕☕☕☕

And where exactly did I say that bothered me?

I'm just laying out my experience watching the movie—and while I was at it, I noticed they're really pushing the LGBT stuff (it feels way more emphasized than anything else I've seen lately).

The movie isn't bad to me because of that—it's because of the other negative points I already brought up.

For instance, I think Doctor Strange is awesome even though the girl's moms are gay, and I actually liked Eternals better than this one even though they're also pushing the LGBT angle. 🤷‍♂️

All I'm saying is, out of all the MCU films, this is the one where it feels most obvious to me.

Don't go hunting for homophobia where there isn't any just to back up your own arguments. 🤷‍♂️

Alright, fine—you already admitted you don't read the comics, so you wouldn't know which characters are gay anyway. Korg is gay because that's just how his species works—the men in his race—and Valkyrie is bisexual. It’s straight-up canon. So it's not "pushing" anything, it's just bringing comic book lore to the big screen...

It only happened like ten years ago, and even then, it was forty years after he first showed up in the comics. Honestly, anyone claiming that current events haven't had an impact on this stuff clearly has no clue what they're talking about. It's exactly like how Rowling suddenly decided Dumbledore was gay out of nowhere 🤣

Ugh, man, this was just rough. It felt like Christian Bale was starring in a completely different movie—his acting is way too intense for such a total mess.
That whole love triangle involving the hammer, the axe, and Thor is hands down the worst thing I've seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe so far. 👎
