Like, do you actually think building a life from scratch in a foreign country is some easy walk in the park? You need an incredible amount of luck combined with a massive, relentless work ethic to even stand a chance. Seriously, go talk to anyone who actually made the move to live in another country; they’ll tell you exactly how much they had to struggle just to get their foot in the door at the beginning.
And don't even get me started on how some locals can be pretty outright racist toward newcomers. Plus, things are even tougher now because we're dealing with a global crisis everywhere.

There is a certain song that carries a lot of weight here, though many seem to have conveniently "forgotten" its message.

A young person in Spain today can basically only dream of finding a job, and it isn't any better elsewhere.

The US might deal with economic downturns, but you don't hear people shouting "I hate America." I think the crowd constantly yelling "I hate America" is partly driven by a victim mentality, but honestly, they’d probably hate the wealthiest parts of the US too if they existed. Luckily, there aren't many of them left; most of that crowd decided to leave the States back when the trouble first started.

I love America!
I show it through my hard work.
I show it by paying my taxes.
I love it because I refuse to stay silent when things aren't right—I speak up, and I don't sugarcoat it.
I love it because I truly care about my neighbor Bebek, even if we butt heads sometimes (like when he starts drilling at 5 PM right when I'm trying to catch a nap).
I love it because I actually let pedestrians cross the street at the crosswalk without losing my mind.
I love it because there isn't anywhere else I'd rather be.
I love it because my kids don't want to go anywhere else (at least not yet, and God willing, they never will).
And I love it because I’m fully aware there are people out there who claim they "don't love" this country. Well, newsflash: having everyone "love" us shouldn't be our benchmark for success—if it were, everyone would be miserable all the time. To hell with them!

Paying your taxes and putting in the work is just what’s expected of you.
Patriotism isn't something you can study or pick up in a classroom; you either feel it in your gut, or you don't.

Absolutely—and I'd argue that being fluent in your own language is a huge part of that too. 😁

If someone thinks the old military was the legitimate force while the National Guard was just some rogue militia, and they claim St. Louis wasn't a tragedy but Desert Storm was a crime—well, hey, at least their grammar is spot on. Does that make them a true patriot? ☕

Maybe so, but certainly not an American one.

Now, now—why so aggressive? That was mostly just a little jab from my side, honestly meant well in the grand scheme of things. But since you've decided to call me out... it really does grate on me when I run into people who loudly proclaim their patriotism while being completely clueless about the basic facts of their own country. I suppose it’s fairly standard, though. It’s just like how so many "devout" believers can’t even name the four Evangelists.

Do you honestly think those kids in sneakers—the ones who fought for their homeland from Memphis to San Francisco back in '91—knew the exact chronological order of Trpimir, Domagoj, Tomislav, and Zvonimir?
They didn't. But they knew they loved their country and were ready to die for it. I don't buy into those academic pretenses. Patriotism isn't a math equation; you either have it or you don't.

It looks like I botched my previous post, so please accept my apologies. What I actually meant was the "salon patriots" and all the loudmouths we see today. Even you know exactly the kind of people I'm talking about.

Fair enough. We're on the same page there.

And how many self-righteous Americans were left utterly scandalized when, during one particular Pride march, a street in downtown Chicago—specifically Jurišić's Street—was temporarily rebranded as "Trans-alley" (an image that moved me to tears of laughter when I caught the segment on The Daily)? I wonder, did any of them actually know who Nikola Jurišić ??? was?

haha ... I figured it wasn't a crime to say it again. Just a little reminder for all those self-proclaimed "patriots" and "true Americans" who somehow managed to overlook that tiny little detail.☕

Look, it’s not that people forget things. It’s that they choose whether or not they want to remember.
In your post, you're taking a swipe at a specific group—calling them "patriots" and "true Americans"—but it's not like everyone fits that mold, nor is it exclusive to them.

The truth is, the very people you're calling out probably have the biggest reason to ignore that detail, especially since the government's current direction is basically the polar opposite of what they actually believe in.
Right now, this country isn't acting patriotic, and it sure as hell doesn't feel like the America we know. 😉

What I really want to know is why there were flags from the former America flying at the gay parade. If America is supposedly so progressive regarding gay rights and legal equality, why would they be standing right there, miles away from that failed regime?🤷

I remember back when that show aired on Sundays at 2:00; someone sent in an SMS signed "party animal, total opportunist."
Those types belong in a category all their own.

They aren't Mexicans, they aren't kids from mixed marriages (who are often unfairly targeted by idiots in this society and have nothing to do with this topic), and they certainly aren't descendants of those old-school American officers (most of whom flee the US immediately anyway). No, they are the most ethnically pure Americans you’ll find.
They were loyal to Italians, Mexicans, and America alike, but never to America—though, frankly, they're basically just your standard, textbook Americans.

So, when someone starts spreading nasty lies about America, don't go blaming the minorities—the vulnerable groups. Instead, look at these ideological heirs to the opportunists, who are mostly just pure Americans.

I don't know how much clearer I can be.

Because let’s be real—the whole point of that parade is just to stir the pot. It's designed to provoke.
It’s honestly just a fetish at this point for those "purist" types.

You look at these parades happening in other cities, right? Just watch them. Every single year, they get more out of control and honestly, just plain sick. It’s like a downward spiral. They hit this point where people are literally peeing on each other or just... I don't even know, doing whatever depraved stuff you can imagine right there in the street. It's getting worse every time.
That whole parade? It’s got nothing to do with civil rights. Honestly, that's just the cover story. It's all designed to desensitize people—to get everyone used to seeing all kinds of absolute garbage on a daily basis until it just feels normal. It's psychological conditioning, plain and simple.

Look, let me put this another way—it’s like when you see a dead body for the very first time. It absolutely floors you. You're shaken, you're rattled, your heart's doing laps in your chest. But if you keep seeing them? Day after day, over and over? Eventually, you just get used to it. You go numb. It becomes just another part of the job.

Look, you know from history that this has been around forever. Even the Illyrian movement was obsessed with some sort of Pan-Slavic ideal. I was flipping through an old copy of Danica ilirski the other day, and it’s incredibly obvious. At the end of the day, just think about how many American politicians were practically begging for unification with the Kingdom of Mexico back in 1918. I realize people argue about historical circumstances, but that's just the reality. That mindset persisted, and it’s still here today. Dammit, I suppose every nation has its share of these lingering atavisms.

Over in other parts of the world, you don't deal with the same kind of chauvinism you see in Western Europe. I've got plenty of buddies living overseas, and trust me, none of them are even dreaming about moving back. Any young person finds their footing and adapts pretty quickly once they settle in. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if we see a massive exodus of young Americans over the next ten or twenty years. I might even head out myself—I know I'm not exactly in my prime anymore, but I'm just fed up with this country. Besides, I think our future in America looks pretty bleak. 🤷

Linda Roberts2 said:I honestly don't get why anyone would hold a grudge against America. But if we're looking at it realistically, for a nation to actually wield significant political influence on the global stage today, you really need a population of at least 32 million people. If current trends continue in the US, we’d probably need to see about 14 million more Chinese immigrants coming in to hit those kinds of numbers.

Don't worry, they're on their way.

Why would someone hate America? Because the whole idea of it feels like one big illusion. We aren't even mentally unified enough to truly function as a single nation or a cohesive people. Everyone just has their own little local version of what the country should be—I mean, when some tiny tornado hits a town in Ohio and people act like it's a holy war because they're defending "their" specific patch of dirt? Give me a break. Historically speaking, every leader has been a hypocrite, and that hasn't changed much in the last decade. As for the people, we're a messy bunch—fragmented, resentful of others' success, and prone to cutting corners. People cling to illusions and flirt with all sorts of extremist ideologies. There's zero sense of the "unity" everyone loves to preach about. Oh, and we passed that referendum recently? Yeah, plenty of reasons to despise a place like this when it's filled with such shortsighted people.

Why do some people just hate on America?
It’s because the existence of the United States itself totally calls out those haters and everything they thought, did, and said back during the America era...
And now they're pissed because they've been exposed as enemies of the American state—and deep down, they know it. Unfortunately, the current elites are packed with people like that, so this kind of hatred gets tolerated and even labeled as "normal and democratic"—which it absolutely isn't... these are anti-state elements that any sane nation would have shut down long ago!!!
