I’m actually running version 6.2.0.138

And look—that claim about it not working in parallel mode for Zillow? Total nonsense.
Besides, I used another computer to send messages to Elon Musk, and Zillow worked perfectly fine both before and after.
On this specific machine, I’ve tried everything—uninstalled it, reinstalled it, wiped the slate clean—but nothing works. It just won't budge.

I filed a sales tax return tonight, and while it was successfully submitted, the digital signature process took noticeably longer than it used to in the previous version of the IRS portal.

Since we’re talking about the Microsoft Agent, I should probably mention a little glitch I've been dealing with. Ever since I installed Bloomberg and the IRS software on my primary workstation, I get this persistent pop-up from the Microsoft Agent every single time I boot up. It just says, "This program is already running." I usually just click OK and move on with my day since everything else functions perfectly fine, but it is a bit of a nuisance.

Does anyone happen to know a fix for this so I can stop seeing that warning message every morning?

I ran out of ideas, so I decided to give the sales tax filing a shot—still spinning my wheels on it 😠

I’m going to have to drag myself down to the IRS tomorrow. I submitted the City Hall membership fee assessment back on February 26th using the old system; I even got a confirmation that they received it, but now? Absolutely nowhere to be found! Honestly, the old version was already glitchy enough as it is, so I can't help but wonder what kind of absolute mess we're in for with this new rollout. 😂

Try checking last year's tax forms—you might find it tucked away in there somewhere.

Was the computer actually in the room, or did it just walk out the window? 🙂

I already checked, and nope, nothing. It’s not even showing up on the FARC cards. I can see the ID was sent over on February 14th and the sales tax went through on March 1st, but as for that tax return from February 26th? Absolutely zero sign of life. 🤷Still, I'm going to keep pushing. 🤣

Hey everyone,
I was hoping someone could help me clear something up regarding tax reporting and business hours

If I run a small shop with just two employees, and our schedule shifts temporarily—say we have to shorten our hours because someone's taking vacation or is out on medical leave—do we actually need to report those changes to the IRS? Does it matter if it's just a temporary thing for two or three weeks before we go right back to our regular hours?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Look, I learned this the hard way. I had a situation once where only the kitchen area was closed because of some scheduled time off, and the state inspector came knocking and slapped us with a fine just because we hadn't notified the local commerce department. Seriously—just file the paperwork ahead of time so you can sleep at night. It’s not worth the headache.🙂

My bad, I totally missed the mark—just realized your question was actually about the digital transaction reporting rules.🤷

You really should have posted this under the Tax Compliance thread, but since we're here:
Yes, you need to update your business hours and transmit that data through your point-of-sale system. Once things get back to normal after those two or three weeks, you’ll just need to submit the updated hours through the terminal again.

We attempted to file an IBM form through this revamped IRS portal today, and it threw an error message immediately upon submission. We properly signed the document and hit send, yet the system rejected it instantly. Everything functioned flawlessly under the old version of the electronic filing system.
Is there some additional step required before the final submission that we might be overlooking? We have already checked the box to accept the terms and conditions, but that hasn't solved anything.
Are you all still having your clients sign physical IBM copies, or is digital submission sufficient once the confirmation is received?

"The form is signed and locked—no edits allowed." 🙂🙂🙂

My mother used to tell me: "Read it line by line, don't skip anything."
Well, I learned my lesson. Now it's done. 🙂 🙂

Personally, I still have them sign everything manually, but I attach the official confirmation from the IRS instead of relying on their actual signature.

Brenda Chase3 said:Is anyone else running into a headache with FINRA because of Java 1.7? Here’s the situation: the IRS website refuses to function unless I have Java 1.7 installed, and when I use that version, everything seems to run smoothly there. However, once I switch to 1.7, FINRA won't process my digital signature on the RS forms, which means I can't submit them. If I roll back to Java 1.6, FINRA works perfectly and everything goes off without a hitch, but then the IRS site just breaks because they strictly require version 1.7.
Has anyone dealt with this specific conflict before, and more importantly, how did you fix it? I've been trying to get a hold of someone at FINRA, but I've been sitting on hold for 20 minutes already. 🙂

So, did you ever hear back from them? What was the verdict from the Treasury?
In my case, Java just crashes right after I sign the form, but before the protocol is even downloaded. I click on Close, restart REGOS, and it just crashes at the exact same spot every single time. The forms are being submitted correctly and everything looks perfect, it's just this annoying Java window that keeps messing me up.

vlado3, I have no idea what you're getting at🙂 because I am seeing the exact same message stating the form "is signed and cannot be edited," and yet absolutely nothing happens. There isn't even a confirmation that it was received or any sign of progress. I actually called their toll-free support line, and the woman on the other end sounded completely frazzled; she basically admitted the application is broken and that it isn't our fault, but rather that their system keeps hanging and half the features simply aren't functioning. So, how are we supposed to submit anything? The old system worked perfectly fine, and there was never an issue with it.

Has ANYONE HERE actually managed to successfully file an ID form using this new, broken software?!

Personally, none of my folks sign anything. Back when we used to walk over to the local IRS office to drop off forms, I’d just end up signing the ID and sales tax documents myself. I mean, maybe it isn't the most brilliant way to handle things, but honestly, it just makes life a whole lot easier.

Blind, we’ve hit a bit of a snag, but honestly, it isn’t even our fault. The IRS is reporting that they can't run on Java 1.7, yet they're also aware that the systems used for tax filings won't function on 1.6. They’re working on a fix right now, supposedly trying to find a way to make everything compatible with Java 1.7 so the IRS systems finally play nice together. I actually reached out to ask them what we're supposed to do in the meantime—because constantly uninstalling and reinstalling different versions of Java just to satisfy specific modules is becoming a massive headache—and their answer was basically, "there's no other way." They mentioned that some people are managing by using one computer running Java 1.6 for certain tasks and a second computer running Java 1.7 for others. I told them that sounds pretty ridiculous for those of us who only have a single workstation. They claim everyone is aware of the situation and they're working on a solution. For now, my only workaround is to download Java 1.6 whenever I need to use Regos, and then wipe it out to install 1.7 whenever I have to jump onto the IRS site. It's a tedious cycle, but until they get their act together and sync the versions, that's exactly what they told me I'd have to do.
Based on exactly what you described, I run into that specific form in those exact spots. It keeps asking me for a signature, but then the moment I actually try to sign it, I get an error message. That’s the word from the folks over at the IRS.

The sales tax modules are still acting up for a few of my clients, and honestly, I’m running out of things to say about it. It’s just one of those frustrating hurdles. I think I'm going to try running the ID next, so I'll let you guys know how that goes. I'm feeling a little nervous about it, if I'm being totally honest.
