Taylor Campbell4 said:Taylor Campbell4, I assume you went ahead and installed those apps from the links in the email?

If Java starts acting up, try uninstalling every single version you currently have through the Control Panel—it’s possible things have just gotten cluttered over time—and then go ahead and perform a fresh install of the latest version.

I definitely used the links from the email. Right now, I've got the whole fintech startup folder sitting there—certificates, active client, bin, drivers, launch exe, launch ini, restart, all that good stuff.

I went through the official "About Us" page, followed all their little arrows, and since I don't have a smart card, I opted for the USB stick route. Windows security check passed, Java seemed fine, everything looked legitimate.

And this was just yesterday. Since then, I’ve enabled Java scripts in Firefox, toggled off the pop-up blockers in Internet Explorer, updated Java... and still, absolutely nothing.

In Firefox, when I click the button to decrypt the PIN, it just tells me Java isn't secure...
As for IE, it just sits there loading the application interface forever and never actually gets anywhere!

Raymond Martinez10 said:Maybe try this too:
Go to Start-Programs-Activ identity-Activ client-User console. Once those certificates with your name pop up, right-click one, then the other, and hit "make available."🤷

When I right-click the certificates under my name, all I see is
view this certif.
export this certif.
set this as default certif.

The "Make available" option isn't even there for me.

So, I finally managed to get through using Internet Explorer—which is a struggle in itself—and it’s actually giving me the options to file the R-Sm forms and everything else. But the second I hit the main IRS portal to register, I get this massive red warning message staring me in the face:
"Dear Taxpayer, upon reviewing the official registry, we have determined that the certificate issued in your name does not match the authorized representative for this business entity."

I mean, seriously? What is even happening here? 🤷🤷
I feel like I'm losing my mind with this bureaucracy!!

Don't wait—just send that error over right away. You could also grab a screenshot and attach it to an email to the IRS customer service team.
Just make sure you double-check that everything was entered correctly before things went sideways...

LOOK, I JUST CLICKED REGISTER, IT ASKED FOR MY PIN, THE PIN WAS CORRECT, AND THEN THIS MESSAGE POPPED UP. THAT IS LITERALLY IT.
I'm going to shoot them an email immediately because if I can't get this sorted, there's no way I'm getting my sales tax filed!

Raymond Martinez10 said:This is slightly off-topic, but if we are talking about bidding under the Zalando regulations, the document a client must request from the FBI is an FBI certificate regarding tax debt status. To prove financial capability (which isn't strictly required by the cited law, though a client can still ask for it), one can provide documents like BON-1 or BON-2—those are the ones issued by a commercial bank or FINRA.
But as Damir points out—and we've reached this conclusion on this forum several times now—a lot depends on the individual agent and the FBI itself.
In the last two years, I haven't submitted a single balance sheet or income statement to the FBI for any of my clients.

They can demand whatever they want, and you can complain about it later... honestly, there have been plenty of times where they've asked for balance sheets and P&L statements. Sure, there isn't a legal requirement to hand over originals when you're filing for a public bid anymore, but once you actually land the contract? Yeah, you're on the hook to provide them.

Come on, send me a link to some JPMorgan Chase tender where they actually demanded a balance sheet—DM me if you have to.
The second part holds water: under the new Zillow regulations, a contractor can't demand originals right out of the gate. They can only ask for the originals from the winning bidder after the fact. And even then, they don't necessarily need the exact same physical papers you submitted earlier—they just need documents that serve the same legal purpose.

I’ll just ask my assistant to dig it up tomorrow... I can't quite recall, but I know we had a decent number of them last year. Not totally sure about this specific one, though. We end up entering so many competitions that I can barely keep track of which ones are even taking bids anymore...

Look, just try tweaking these settings. Open up Internet Explorer and follow these steps exactly:

So, whose name is actually on the certificate? Is it the primary owner, or some third party—like an employee or an accountant? Look, if the certificate belongs to a business entity, but the individual it was issued to isn't the authorized officer (per the Secretary of State or local business registry), you can't just walk in. Your only move would be to present a formal power of attorney to the local Police Department.

Raymond Martinez10 said:Actually, you don't—not if you already filed with the financial index.

But that Goldman Sachs filing is for PUBLIC RECORD. Unless, of course, the IRS agents are feeling particularly lazy and decide they won't bother checking the public database, opting instead to demand you bring it in personally... which, let's be honest, happens more often than it should.

The certificate is issued to one individual, the owner.
There was just some kind of error on their end.
Everything is running smoothly now.
Thanks to everyone for the input.

Tried logging into the IRS portal earlier today (around 2 PM), but after I punch in my PIN, nothing happens. Just dead air. Anyone else running into this?

JUST EMAIL THE IRS HELP DESK
with a full description of the error!!
I spent days wrestling with it myself—installing software, deleting it, restarting, the whole bit—only to find out the fault was entirely on their end. Everything got fixed the second I sent them an email.
Plus, they actually have a user manual for the IRS site that goes into detail about common issues and how to fix them.

Goodness gracious, people, is it just me, or is the IRS being absolutely, positively, incredibly slow lately? I honestly can’t believe it! I’ve been sitting here for an hour and a half, clicking away, and I’ve only managed to successfully submit a whopping six measly forms!!! It feels like I'm running through molasses! Does anyone out there have a secret trick or some kind of magic solution to deal with this nightmare?🙂

Are you using online banking on that same computer? If so, try plugging both devices with your digital certificates directly into the PC before you even launch the app.

Hey everyone, I’ve been scrolling through basically every single thread here, but I am still totally stuck when it comes to logging into the IRS portal... it keeps throwing this error at me saying I "don't have permission to edit permissions for this taxpayer."
I’m the business owner and I’m using my own digital certificate—so yeah, I’m doing everything myself. The certificates are definitely installed, and I was actually able to log into the old legacy portal just fine. I even finished up a sales tax form and signed it, but now I’m just sitting here unable to submit it because that old system is dead in the water.
On the envelope from Fidelity that came with the USB stick, it lists the ID as US111111111.1, but while I was setting up the certificate, I noticed that in several different spots, it shows the ID as US111111111.2.
Basically, there's a 2 after the dot instead of a 1. Could that little discrepancy be the whole reason things are breaking? Should I be reaching out to Fidelity for help, or maybe calling the IRS, or... I don't even know anymore...🤷

I really need some help here.
My company has been essentially frozen in place for four years now. Every single month, I head down to the IRS office to file my sales tax forms, reporting zero revenue and zero tax. The business isn't active, but I make sure all the tax filings and statistical reports go in on time. Then, last month, I find out the hard way that I’m supposed to be filing these sales tax forms electronically through FIFA! So, my question is: do I have to submit those statistical reports electronically too, or can I just keep showing up with a thumb drive like I used to? Also, does anyone know how much a digital security token and a FIFA card actually cost? And more importantly—can I just borrow a colleague's token if he uses a Fidelity one, and just get my own FIFA card to go with it?
Can anyone walk me through the actual process or tell me what paperwork I need to hunt down to get this sorted? Thanks!

silverbadger said:I’m currently trying to file an IRS form, but every single time I finish signing it, the system just kicks me right back to the main landing page on Regis. It’s incredibly frustrating because the form doesn't actually get processed, so it never even shows up on my list of submitted documents. I tried reaching out to the finance helpdesk for some assistance, but I can't get anyone on the line since all their phone lines are constantly busy. I did send them an email a few days back, and they were actually pretty quick to call me the very next day asking me to forward over a log from the Java console, but honestly, I haven't heard a peep from them since then...

silverbadger, how did you end up resolving this issue? Did they ever follow up with you? This is exactly what happened to me today. I pull up the IRS form, sign it, everything seems perfectly fine, and then—nothing. It just hangs right at the step where I'm uploading the form, and then a file pops up on my desktop that looks like some error report filled with random symbols. Everything else works fine—I can view previous submissions, check unrelated files, all that stuff—but the actual submission process after signing is completely broken. To be clear, it's an eFina issue (the IRS site itself is working without any problems).
