Brian Campbell36 said:Are you actually wondering how one is meant to submit the Balance Sheet and the IRS filings? Is it not clearly stated above that those should be sent as a .pdf?

However, if you wish to proceed, simply return to the original document you saved to your hard drive, navigate to the "File" menu, select "Save As," and then choose "Word XML Document" from the file type dropdown menu. I trust that provides the clarity you require.

Actually, I'm talking about the PD—my supervisor is one of those old-school types who insists I hand-deliver the Balance Sheet, the RDG, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce stuff, the Tourism Board docs, and even the depreciation Table... basically everything. Thanks for the tip, really, but for some reason, whenever I try to save that Excel-based PD as an XML Document, absolutely nothing happens, and then the Tax Portal just throws an error at me again. I'm totally stuck here.

Jack Carter88 said:Yes, you absolutely need to convert those attachments into PDF format. I’m not sure if you already have a tool for this, but I personally use a straightforward, free little program called Adobe PDF. You can easily find it online and download it to your computer if you don't have it yet.
After that, it’s pretty simple: just open your Balance Sheet within the POD form, head over to the print menu, and select that Adobe PDF printer. A window will pop up asking where you want to save the file, you pick a folder, and you're all set.

When it comes to uploading attachments to the IRS, you just pull the PDF files from your own archives, and the whole process is quite seamless.

As for the tax form itself, you can either manually enter the data into the provided template or, if your accounting software supports it, just export and send it directly from there.

It appears to me that the attachment option only activates when required; for instance, I noticed just now while working on my sales tax form that the "attachments" option does not show up in the dropdown menu by default. Does the system automatically recognize when that feature needs to be enabled? Or perhaps... 🤷

That’s right, those attachments only pop up alongside the Sales Tax form.

Back when we were using the old software, you couldn't actually upload them—you were stuck just sending files to the Tourism Board and the IRS. But with this current system, everything is streamlined; you can submit whatever is required as long as it's in PDF format.

My suggestion? Just take the data from your spreadsheet and manually type it directly into the online form on the Tax Portal. Honestly, it isn't as daunting as it sounds; there aren't actually that many fields to fill out. Once you've finished that, look through your submitted forms. You can select the confirmation from the dropdown menu, which allows you to save or print both the confirmation and the original form itself.

As for your supervisor, it's probably best to just give her exactly what she asks for. It keeps the peace.

I appreciate the response; you've been quite helpful. I'll send over a sample shortly... clearly, there is no substitute for a true expert.

On a separate note, I have observed an interesting technical discrepancy: Chrome recognizes the digital certificate perfectly fine, yet when using IE (version 10.0), it fails entirely. It simply refuses to acknowledge the certificate's existence. Instead of prompting me to select the certificate associated with my legal name, IE just kicks me straight back to the application, which then triggers an error stating that no certificate was selected.

Sent over my tax filings and everything else back on March 15th. The clerk just told me they don't even have the app live yet, so she can't see anything on her end. I guess... has anyone here actually had their returns or VAT forms cleared? Everything is just stuck in "processing" status.

I have a question regarding the City Hall form

Basically, I’m dealing with multiple income streams, which means I have several different tax percentages to calculate. Does anyone know how to handle this through the IRS e-file system?

Last year, I just mailed the form directly to my agent because I was in the exact same situation. It took them until this year to actually process it—and even then, only after I had to call them out for the fact that the credit wasn't showing up on my statement. I’d really like to avoid that headache this time around.

I tried emailing the IRS, but I haven't heard back from anyone.

The calculation rate is determined by your primary business activity—specifically, the one listed on your classification notice from the U.S. Census Bureau. Essentially, the form doesn't give you the option to apply different rates to various activities (since many businesses operate under multiple categories within a single entity); instead, everything is calculated based on the main activity you declared when you first registered your company.

If you ask me, it should be based on whatever activity actually brings in the most revenue.
When someone starts a company, they usually have one specific vision in mind for their primary industry—but then reality hits, and life takes them in a completely different direction.

I’d probably hand the settlement over to the supervisor before the final deadline, assuming I was calculating it by strictly following the specific transaction type and applying the varying rates.
To be honest, I haven't actually seen anyone do it that way more than a few times—usually, people just "glance" at examples in trade journals—but I suppose it should be possible to submit it like that.

You make a great point, Vlado3. I was actually just looking at some documentation from the IRS, and it notes: "Per Section 3, Paragraph 4, both legal entities and individuals may calculate and pay dues based on the rate prescribed for the primary activity—specifically, the activity conducted at a higher volume relative to any other activities listed in their commercial registry. Since current law no longer allows for paying tourism dues based on an average rate, taxpayers must apply a single rate corresponding to their predominant business activity."

So, Vlado3 corrected me right on the money (my apologies for the misinformation!), though I did get the part about using a single consolidated rate rather than multiple different rates correct.

Just wanted to let you guys know I finally sorted this out. I gave my contact over at the IRS a call, and he knew exactly what was going on immediately. I ended up mailing him the completed form along with a detailed breakdown of how everything was calculated, and that did the trick.
That’s actually how I handled it last year, so I honestly assumed they had streamlined the process by now.

To make matters worse, the folks handling the online tax portal actually replied to my email just to tell me they only deal with technical glitches, not actual calculation issues, so I didn't get much help from them at all.

I have a quick question regarding the ID forms.
Essentially, I need to submit two separate ID forms for a three-month period—one using identifier 1, and another using identifier 11.
Is it possible to file two different ID forms for the same month through the IRS portal?
My second question concerns the electronic signature. Since I hold power of attorney, should I be the one signing, or does the authorized representative handle it?
It’s my first time navigating this process, so I figured it was best to ask. 🙂

You can submit multiple different ID forms. As for the signature, it's whoever is named in the power of attorney. 🙂

How long does it usually take for your digital signature to load?
Mine’s been stuck on "Please wait..." for several minutes now.

If you happen to have another digital certificate sitting on a different device—say, one you use strictly for your Chase banking login—that’s plugged into your computer, pull it out first. Once that's cleared, head over to the IRS web portal and try signing the form.
If you don't have any other certificates available, just shut the application down. Pull the certificate out of your computer, plug it back in, relaunch the app, and give that signature another shot.

Everything is sorted now.
I restarted the process, filled out the forms, and hit send.
Ran into a minor snag during the digital signature phase, fixed it, and we're good to go.

Thanks for the response 🙂

Why on earth has my application been sitting under the "document in processing" status for three whole days now? How much time does it actually take for them to review a single form like this? 🤣

Take a look at the card; it’s likely that the document has already been processed. From what I can tell, that "in progress" status seems to be applied to everything—it shows up on documents that are finished just as clearly as those that aren't.
