Look, I’m telling you, your issue is almost certainly with Java. Are you even running the latest version? Or maybe you’ve got Java disabled somewhere deep in your Internet Explorer settings.

Or, honestly, you might have just completely missed adding the URL to your trusted sites list in the Internet options.
-Go to trusted sites - then sites - and manually punch in the Regos address.

It seems to me like there's a glitch with Java, though it strikes me as odd because everything else functions perfectly except for submitting my RS forms. The IRS site works fine using that exact same Java setup. I actually use Internet Explorer exclusively for both eFina and the IRS (it's basically my dedicated browser for this stuff), so it feels a bit strange that the IRS is working flawlessly while eFina is being temperamental. I have the Regos address listed under my trusted sites, and Java is definitely enabled—otherwise, I wouldn't be able to submit any forms through the IRS at all. Anyway, I'm going to try reaching out to them; they don't respond to emails and getting someone on the phone is nearly impossible, so...

Seriously, go double-check which browser you're even running. You might be stuck on some ancient version that belongs in a museum. The IRS and Regos aren't even the same deal—they're totally different sites and they don't work the same way at all. Personally, I was always fighting with Regos back in the day, like three years ago when everything was just starting out.

I'm still rocking Internet Explorer 9 myself.
If you aren't using it, maybe try installing it. http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downl...ernet+explorer

Thanks, fadedmoose4, I'll give that a shot too. Everything was working perfectly fine until today—no major issues at all—but now, suddenly, this Mexico site is acting up. I've been using Regos for two years without a hitch, but today it’s just being difficult. 🙂Anyway, I'll try your suggestion and see where it leads. 😉

Well, look at that—it started working again without me even touching my Internet Explorer settings. It seems like it might have been an issue on their end, because it felt really strange for the Mexico site to work fine one day and then suddenly have a single function fail on eFina. Or maybe something just unglitched itself on my computer. Since today is the final deadline for anyone who hasn't filed their financial reports, the system might just be bogged down by high traffic; honestly, I can't say for sure. Regardless, thanks for the advice—it’ll definitely come in handy if things get messy later.

My company has been essentially frozen in place for four years now. Every single month, I head down to the IRS office to file my sales tax forms, reporting zero revenue and zero tax. The business isn't active, but I make sure all the tax filings and statistical reports go in on time. Then, last month, I find out the hard way that I’m supposed to be filing these sales tax forms electronically through FIFA! So, my question is: do I have to submit those statistical reports electronically too, or can I just keep showing up with a thumb drive like I used to? Also, does anyone know how much a digital security token and a FIFA card actually cost? And more importantly—can I just borrow a colleague's token if he uses a Fidelity one, and just get my own FIFA card to go with it?
Can anyone walk me through the actual process or tell me what paperwork I need to hunt down to get this sorted? Thanks!

You should head down to the local Finance office and file an application for an official digital certificate. Once you have that, you'll need to install the necessary software for both the Finance department and the IRS on your computer to transmit your forms digitally.

Alternatively, if you have a trusted friend or another company you work with, you can simply go to the IRS office and fill out a power of attorney form. That way, your contact can submit the forms for you through their own firm. You won't even need to borrow their token or sign a separate contract with the Finance department.
By using that power of attorney, they can handle the submissions for you using their own USB drive or card.

The issue isn't actually with Java, but rather with Internet Explorer. I had version 10 installed—which auto-updates, by the way—but I ended up wiping it from my computer following some advice from the IRS. Since I haven't filed anything with Mexico yet, I'm honestly not quite sure if everything will run smoothly. During my various chats with the finance support team, I gathered that they are also incredibly frustrated with the IRS because they weren't even consulted when the new IRS system was being rolled out. It sounds like the Finance department has really been left in a tough spot here.
In the meantime, I sent off another email requesting that they don't charge my card for the March authorization fees since I wasn't even able to access the service, so now I'm just waiting to see if they'll be reasonable and grant my request.
It also looks like the IRS system itself is dealing with some bugs. One of my sales tax forms ended up being processed twice even though I only submitted it once. Their customer support isn't exactly known for being quick to respond, but one of the representatives did tell me she could get it sorted out for me.

Has anyone actually submitted their balance sheets or income statements through the IRS portal yet?
I heard from an official at the IRS that it’s possible, though I'm having a hard time locating the specific forms...

I am honestly about to lose my mind with all this digital nonsense!
Everything seemed to be running so smoothly last year, but ever since January 1st, it’s been nothing but glitches from the banks to the IRS!!!
I have never experienced such ridiculous loading times; the pages just freeze up constantly, and then I get hit with these errors claiming I don't even have the right security certificate...
I suppose they could have actually prepared themselves for the sheer number of taxpayers trying to use these systems at once. 🙂 🙂

It’s definitely doable. Just keep in mind that you won't find their specific templates there; instead, you need to convert your own documents into PDF format and upload them as attachments once you've finished filing your tax return.

with a full description of the error!!
I spent days wrestling with it myself—installing software, deleting it, restarting, the whole bit—only to find out the fault was entirely on their end. Everything got fixed the second I sent them an email.
Plus, they actually have a user manual for the IRS site that goes into detail about common issues and how to fix them.

Google Chrome

Turns out the issue was actually on my side. If anyone else runs into this, give this a shot:
https://www.irs.gov/

Hit the ALT key on your keyboard to bring up the Menu bar (the File menu).
Then go to Tools and check the box for IE Compatibility Mode
(the button to make the webpage display correctly) and you're good to go.

The thing is, I don't even have my own files yet. I only have this GFI data in an Excel sheet...
Can anyone help me figure out how to turn that into a PDF? Really struggling here...

To turn a Word or Excel document into a PDF, you basically just open the file, go to "Save As," and select PDF from the dropdown menu; it’s really not that complicated, I suppose.
If that option isn't showing up for some reason, Microsoft offers a free tool on their website to handle it, assuming you are actually using Microsoft Office, of course.

Just try searching for "convert to PDF" or "PDF printer" online.
If you install one of those virtual printers, it'll just show up in your list of devices alongside everything else—except instead of spitting out paper, it just saves everything as a PDF document.

But how exactly am I supposed to attach them once I've converted the files to a .pdf extension? Is there some specific setting within the IRS e-filing portal or similar software that facilitates this? I have already filed the primary return, but how can I resolve this so the authorities actually receive the necessary documentation?

Edit: I believe I have found the answer. The instructions mention attaching documents to the tax filing, yet the "Attachments" link remains greyed out—it appears to be completely unresponsive. How does one activate this option so that the financial statements can finally be sent?

If you need a hand, here is how you handle it:
- Look through the submitted forms. - Select the Tax ID. - Use the search function. - Find the 2012 tax return form. - The data regarding the filing (like the submission timestamp) should pop up. - Click the arrow next to the tax document. - A dropdown menu will appear; scroll to the attachments at the bottom. Click on those attachments and follow the prompts. Choose the attachment type, such as the balance sheet, and so on. Upload the file from your local drive and hit "submit."

You’ll just need to repeat that process for every document you're uploading.

Thank you. If I may ask one more thing: is it strictly necessary to perform a conversion to .pdf (changing the file from .xls to .pdf), or is it acceptable to submit the document in its original .xls (Excel extension) format?

Man, I’m currently wrestling with this POD form, but it keeps spitting back an error saying the format isn't allowed—apparently, it’s got to be an XML Document. Does anyone know how the heck I can turn this POD into an XML Document??? Seriously, help a guy out!

Are you actually wondering how one is meant to submit the Balance Sheet and the IRS filings? Is it not clearly stated above that those should be sent as a .pdf?

However, if you wish to proceed, simply return to the original document you saved to your hard drive, navigate to the "File" menu, select "Save As," and then choose "Word XML Document" from the file type dropdown menu. I trust that provides the clarity you require.

Yes, you absolutely need to convert those attachments into PDF format. I’m not sure if you already have a tool for this, but I personally use a straightforward, free little program called Adobe PDF. You can easily find it online and download it to your computer if you don't have it yet.
After that, it’s pretty simple: just open your Balance Sheet within the POD form, head over to the print menu, and select that Adobe PDF printer. A window will pop up asking where you want to save the file, you pick a folder, and you're all set.

When it comes to uploading attachments to the IRS, you just pull the PDF files from your own archives, and the whole process is quite seamless.

As for the tax form itself, you can either manually enter the data into the provided template or, if your accounting software supports it, just export and send it directly from there.
