You can't because it literally tells you they're doing an upgrade...

"We are notifying all IRS users that from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM today, services for submitting and verifying payroll tax forms will be unavailable due to a new application version being pushed to production."

Go ahead and pay them, but remember you have to file that form within 24 hours of the payout!

BTW.
Does anyone know:
I've got some unpaid interest sitting there for a few bucks, and I'm wondering how I can actually see the breakdown of what those interest charges are for on my Chase credit card statement?

Looks like they actually got their act together. Form went through. Everything's looking good.

Hey everyone.

Anyone tried downloading and printing their submitted IRS forms lately?
Every single time I open one, it’s the exact same file, even though I know for a fact I sent different data!🙂

Do I actually need an IRS account to file my taxes online, or can I just drop them off in person? Thanks!

If you aren't legally required to use the electronic filing system, you can always just bring in a hard copy.

could you clarify this a bit?

The interest hasn't been paid yet (you just see it on the individual account balance)?

Or are you seeing an actual charge for interest?

If you have up to three employees... sure, you can file manually. Anything beyond that? You're going to need an e-file account. And look, once you activate it, you're stuck with it—you'll be filing through that system from then on. There’s no going back to dropping off paper files at the agent's desk.

I will...
I'm thinking they're sales tax interest charges because my payment hasn't been cleared on their end yet. So, the amount just keeps climbing every day... apparently, it takes them three business days from the time of payment for it to hit the balance. It's not showing any collection, just uncollected interest...

It could easily take longer than three days to clear.😁

But when they finally process it, they'll backdate it to the actual payment date—so if the payment wasn't late (for VAT, meaning it was due by Feb 28th?), then those interest charges should vanish.
If the payment went through yesterday, they'll only charge two days of interest.

That’s what I was thinking... I paid off 27k, but they were still showing a balance of 28k... so technically, there should be zero interest left, right?

Yeah, that should work—zero interest.

I’ve always hated how slow their payment processing is—especially when someone needs proof that they don't owe anything—but I guess I’ve found a rhythm. Most bills fall due on the last day of the month, and if a client doesn't want to pay early, there's really no point asking for a clearance letter during the first few days of the following month.

But now, the issue with the accounting software is cropping up—the debt hits the books instantly, but the payment takes forever to clear. It means some people constantly show an outstanding balance on their statements even though, in reality, they don't owe a dime.🤷

The money hits the account... zero interest... honestly, I don't think I have any issues with my banking setup. As far as I can remember, the payment clears and posts on the very same day the cash actually lands.

Is the IRS website down again?

It looks like the site went down again. Honestly, there have been at least 300 different glitches lately, and now they’ve gone and added a Java update on top of everything else. You practically need a computer science degree just to keep up with it all
between tracking the latest updates from Amazon and trying to navigate the Social Security administration website... It’s certainly becoming quite the "popular" user experience...

I was told they're currently installing the latest software updates for them.

What’s the deal with them changing the sequence numbers on the tax filing forms?
I can't even hit submit because it keeps telling me the sequence number doesn't match.

It might just be a typo on your end. Which number are you trying to enter?

If you're running Synapse, just grab the latest update...

The sequence numbers on Page B have to go 1, 2, 3...

It used to be that the last line was the highest number, but they changed it.

Is anyone else running into issues with https://portal.irs.gov/auth/? We managed to log in once, but we didn't save the certificates properly—now we're completely locked out. We have the USB key provided by the Federal Reserve, but they haven't been able to help us at all... we've gone through every manual and tried every fix we could think of, but nothing works. What should our next move be? Should we just request a new $67 or is there some way to bypass this without having to order a whole new key
?

You’re going to have to redownload those certificates from the IRS website... but this time, make sure you select the login option instead of registering... just like it says in the instructions
