To be blunt, I haven't needed to take out a loan yet. I hope it stays that way, because looking at the state of this country, things aren't looking great.

Exactly. Run from American "banks" and credit offers as fast as you can. Just issue yourself a restraining order against every financial institution within ten miles. And stay away from those tacky street festivals too.

As for that guy offering you a few bucks in exchange for twenty-two, he clearly doesn't realize he's basically offering a payday loan. Even if you signed something like that, it would be legally void, and he'd be facing charges under Section 242 of the Penal Code of the United States. He's probably just a loan shark himself—or maybe even a banker looking for a quick cut...

Unfortunately, you can't really dodge the big banks when your employer insists on direct deposit. You don't get the luxury of cash in hand like people used to. You just have to exercise some discipline and learn to say NO when they push those instant payday loans or useless credit cards that feel like a trap.

I recently posted on another thread about how much I hate the banking monopoly on checking accounts. Naturally, the resident bank defenders came out of the woodwork to attack me. I guess I touched a nerve. Clearly, the big banks still think they’re untouchable...

But like someone else here pointed out, we're finally putting an end to this vampire circus.
