Personally, I *do* care about the accident, especially when it looks more like a pattern of behavior on the road—kind of like what happened with Kennedy. And honestly? It should matter. But this is the way things work in the States lately; it feels like every single day we see more of it. There’s just no basic common sense or moral integrity left in the driver's seat anymore.

And the cops said you were the one at fault, without even bothering to look at how bad the road actually was... but whatever...

It's not like I'm defending Cacic—I've said plenty of times that he's guilty and I can't wait for the trial to happen...

You're acting like me waiting for actual facts is some kind of defense...

They claim they took it into account. "Look at the weather, you should've been more careful!"
Too bad there was zero damage, so there was no need to prove anything!
But that's how it goes everywhere. In a pile-up, everyone's usually at fault!

So if you think he's guilty, then regardless of the verdict
he really ought to—since he keeps preaching about morality and acting all Westernized--
RESIGN from his party position, if only for appearances!!

bluerider63 said:Because he's being tried like any other regular citizen who caused a car wreck, not because of whatever mess he made while acting as a party leader.

Even a domestic abuser is just a citizen!!!
Even a rapist—should they get to stay in public office too?!
What are you even talking about?!?!?!?!

bluerider63 said:Look, I never said losing two people was common, I was talking about something else entirely, but whatever. Comparing some drunk Žužić tearing through a narrow alleyway to Čačić causing an accident in terrible weather conditions is honestly just a malicious reach.

As far as I'm concerned, they're cut from the same cloth—both are just road hazards. Even Kennedy admitted yesterday his doctor told him there are times he shouldn't be behind the wheel. That's what a decent bartender tells a drunk, too.
Bottom line? They're the same to me. And since this is Kennedy's fourth accident, he's no different from some arrogant tycoon's son out in the suburbs.☕

He could have stayed on as a volunteer within the party, but he really should have stepped down from the chairmanship. No matter how shaken he looks—and it’s obvious he is—he’s already running the numbers, especially regarding that bit about "community service" ("the verdict could even be community service, and I don't know how to do anything better than this").

Stepping away from USTA seems foolish and frankly ridiculous when you consider he’s staying firmly in control of the party and still trying to convince people that it's perfectly fine.

bluerider63 said:I get where you're coming from, but honestly, you can't really compare these two situations. Reckless driving could just as easily be someone flying down the interstate in perfect sunshine while going over 81 miles/h, or pretty much anyone else ignoring the limit regardless of whether it's pouring rain or not. And let's be real, how many people actually push past those limits? You could probably argue that over 90% of Žužić's crowd is out there doing exactly that on the road.

And unfortunately, we really do. That’s exactly why our fatality rates are through the roof. It’s like it wasn't bad enough here in the States, so we had to take the chaos across the border too. Right here, two people were killed under the wheels of Kennedy's car. And yeah—we're talking about the same Kennedy who's got a laundry list of traffic violations. To me, he's no different from Zuzic. Both of them are absolute hazards behind the wheel—dangerous for pedestrians, dangerous for everyone else on the road. Period.☕

When I heard that yesterday, I honestly felt sick to my stomach. He kills two people and then actually hopes his "punishment" will just let him keep doing exactly what he’s been doing. Might as well have said his dream sentence would be picking up seashells on some exotic beach in the Caribbean or the Bahamas.
It’s pure hypocrisy, plain old rudeness, arrogance, and ego... honestly, the guy is just trash.☕

Actually, yes. As much as it was obvious he was shaken up (there were even ticks he hadn't shown before, and it was clear he was experiencing painful flashbacks during the conversation)—underneath all that, that arrogance and selfishness still bled through. An ego like that doesn't just change overnight...

Of course he’s calculating his moves; anyone in his shoes would be doing the exact same thing. After seeing all this vitriol thrown at Kennedy, I’m just waiting for someone to start screaming about how he should have just walked straight into a cell and asked for a ten-year stretch.
Nobody actually wants to sit behind bars, and everyone fights for the lightest sentence possible; honestly, with the amount of hate being spewed, it wouldn't surprise me if someone started complaining that he didn't even hire a high-priced lawyer to defend him.

Still, there's enough humanity left in him that I doubt he'll be making a run for Canada like some ☕
coward.

No, he isn't going to run to Canada.

It's not quite right to say everyone would be "calculating"... I assume what you mean is that everyone would likely hope for a lighter sentence. If you know you're facing three to eight years, anyone would hope for three or four rather than the full eight.
But I don't believe everyone would calculate this way, or even timidly suggest that he's actually quite good at what he does—in politics, that is, not driving. Perhaps the penalty could involve community service... since he knows where his true talents lie. Personally, I feel for him. It's a massive tragedy, and honestly, any driver could face something similar. A terrible accident. But make no mistake, he should have resigned from his leadership position in the Republican Party. He could have stayed involved and contributed through his expertise and work...

Don't mix the bolded part with the rest. Glavaš fled before a political trial. We all know whose trial it really was.

I agree with Henry Adams on the rest. Except I don't feel sorry for him.🤷

So we just ignore things when they make us look bad? Give me a break. Don't be ridiculous and hypocritical, preaching about morality or some "political trial" to defend someone who was already convicted in an American court.

I know this guy who had his doctors tell him that, because of some issues with his eyesight, it wouldn't be a great idea to drive around at night once he eventually gets his license... and you know what he decided? He just isn't going to take the test or buy a car ever—because he figured that one day, he might just ignore those warnings and end up driving in the dark anyway... honestly, talk about having a conscience...

So now Kennedy is facing the Canadian judiciary... we'll see if he ever even dares to set foot in Canada again.😁
Don't go sticking your neck out for politicians—regardless of which party they belong to!😉

It’s probably not going to help him much, trying to dodge Canada like that... I mean, let's be real, the EU doesn't really have borders anymore anyway. Pretty soon we'll just be opening up our own borders to the rest of Europe and vice versa. I guess if you screw over one political party, you end up screwing over all of them too. Maybe. It just feels like once you go there, there's no coming back from it.

I mean, regardless of those transparent attempts from that "genius" physicist last night to downplay everything... honestly, Kennedy just slammed into a car in the slower lane way too fast. He actually tried to claim there was fog when there clearly wasn't any—and then, get this, he had the nerve to blame the victims by saying their headlights weren't bright enough or something. It’s just wild. I really wonder how much longer this "brilliant mind" is going to keep bringing up the possibility of probation. :-)

Kennedy isn't the only HNS-ist facing court. But regardless of how the verdict lands, Ferenčak will still head to the Winter Olympics in Vancouver as the President of the USSA, albeit on administrative leave.

A rigged trial just so Ferenčak can make it to the Olympics

Aha, so you're just talking nonsense regarding the collision, while I—the supposed "genius" who's actually correcting you—am just using demagoguery? Classic move from people writing about things they clearly don't understand...

Look, it's not my fault gym was your favorite subject back in school...

And the part about probation? That was brought up by actual lawyers... though I highly doubt your grasp of the law is any better than your grasp of physics, so, basically zero...

Nobody is saying he didn't hit them; the point is that we need to determine the exact speed...

People like you think a seventh grader could figure this out—it's a joke, really... though I suppose it does reflect your level of understanding of the subject matter...

Kennedy turned in his resignation as president of the HTS, but—get this—the HTS board actually rejected it...

So, I saw this massive headline on Newsweek today: "Son of powerful Republican Party figure caught up in traffic accident scandal."
I can't help but wonder, will the media coverage stay this intense once the verdict comes down for Kennedy?

I doubt it. He’ll probably just buy himself an acquittal.

The thing is—if we're being honest—that son already killed someone once, also behind the wheel, and his old man just made sure the whole thing stayed buried...
