Same logic should apply to this one.

So?
I’m telling you, it works at ATMs and in stores—anywhere they take Visa.
Btw, people on this other link are saying you can use it in the USA too.

An American Visa Electron?

Visa cards work in both the USA and Canada, but I think for some reason our European ones aren't accepted there—at least my Visa Electron from Chase didn't work in Canada, not at ATMs or in stores. My advice? Stick to Maestro or credit cards—Mastercard or Amex should be fine over there.

My Chase Visa debit card wouldn't work in the USA!

In the States, you can obviously shop using their local cards, like a Visa Electron. Basically, the debit card you get when you open an account at one of their banks—you can use that to buy things in Europe or Asia (tried it), whereas you can't use our local Visa in the States, even though it works fine in Europe and Asia...

Don't bring a Visa Electron to the USA. I tried it once—I managed to get cash out of maybe every 20th ATM, but I couldn't pay with it in almost any store. Plus, the fees ate up about $50 of my money. There's a huge difference between "Visa" and "Visa Electron"... standard Visa is accepted everywhere, but Visa Electron is barely accepted anywhere.

Anyway, this is getting a bit off-topic now.

I was just wondering if the same applies to the Mastercard Visa Prepaid Gift Card.

Yeah, an American one. If it works online—which it does—it'll work in the USA too.

I was just wondering if the same goes for a Mastercard Prepaid Reload card.

It does. Just not sure if there's a chip on it. I know the Visa stands to have one.

Sure, it works online, but not once you're actually in the USA. Not sure why, but it just doesn't work there.

Have you actually been to the USA and tried using one to pay for stuff?

The USA? What's that?

I haven't personally been to the States, but I know folks who have—and they couldn't get that card to work. Just to show I'm not just talking out of thin air, I've included a link where others have confirmed the same thing...

I know plenty of people who used them without any issues at all:

...

So what's the big deal now? 😁

Honestly, there isn't a single logical reason why our Visa Electron wouldn't work in the USA.

Generally speaking, it’s not always about the card or the country itself; sometimes, certain merchants just won't accept it for reasons nobody can quite explain—likely depending on which bank they partner with. I remember being in Canada back before they implemented highway vignettes, and at one toll booth, my card worked perfectly, but at the very next one, it was rejected.
I don't think you can make broad generalizations about whether a card works in a specific country. Every merchant and every individual card tells its own story.

The bank always wins while the customer just stays stuck in debt... if you ask me, that's just how the whole credit card game works.

Just because you haven't figured out how to use them doesn't mean the cards themselves are bad.

...alright, give me the TL;DR...😁

...is this Visa Prepaid Reload actually any good? Can I use it for online shopping and link it to PayPal, or am I better off just sticking with my Visa Electron from JPMorgan Chase?...thanks for the help...

You can sign up for PayPal without any issues. I just set mine up yesterday and already picked up a few things on eBay. Everything’s working fine...

$8.25 It’s just the one-time fee to get the card issued. That’s basically it. There aren't any monthly maintenance fees either—unless you're the type who insists on getting paper statements sent by mail, but I just have mine sent via email...

...what about account fees?...I’ve got a checking account with them and PayPal, so I’m paying $1.25 for one and $2.50 a month for the other...also, can I link PayPal to this card too?

Oh, come on, you definitely have an account! I mean, how else would they track all your transactions? It’s just that since there aren't any fees, it feels totally "invisible" to you. But seriously, if I were to walk into their branch tomorrow, what kind of paperwork would I even need? Like, just my driver's license and Social Security number, or is it more complicated than that?

I didn't mean anything else, like a Comcast bill or some other account linked to it. I misspoke.

You'll need all three of those things you listed...
