I’m sticking to my guns—Zabka charges a standard monthly fee for checking accounts $3.00 just like it says right on their website. If anyone actually has proof to the contrary, by all means, 😍
post it here.

I'm waiting until December since I finally had some activity, but I might just let the whole thing about finding proof slide 😁, and then I'll probably just go ahead and close the account because, say, at JPMorgan Chase, it’s still free if you don't have any activity on the account.
By the way, I even sent an email to Wells Fargo, and they're charging fees too, even when nothing is happening.

Most banks maintain them regardless of your transaction volume 😉

Why wait until December? 😕 Just go ahead and close the account...

I guess I just want to see if they try to hit me with another fee again, just so I can throw it right back in their face as my reason for closing the account.🙂
I know it sounds a bit silly, but I really don't feel like dying for another $3.00 they're just going to snatch away from me anyway.

Lawrence Cruz said:That error pops up while you're trying to process the order. I'm honestly not sure how many free transactions that Zaba fan actually allows per month. If there’s a free tier, you won't see a charge—but if not, you're looking at a fee of 1-$0.67.

As far as I know, PayPal 🙂 handles things like that.

The way that sentence is phrased makes it sound like there *are* free transactions, even though I don't use them myself.🙄 I’m just staring at this PDF, but I'm not seeing anything useful here.😁
And as for that PayPal stuff... they told me two years ago it would be "coming soon"... I'm seriously looking into switching to a different bank at this point.🙂

Yeah, honestly, it’s like nobody even wants to bother anymore. I mean, honestly, if things keep going this way, I might just kick the bucket right here and now. I don't even know where to start with this one, honestly. It’s just... nothing. Total void. Zero. Zilch. There isn't even enough substance here to form a coherent thought, let alone a real conversation, so I'm just sitting here staring at a blank space where an actual point should be. $3.00 Look, I’m telling you, I’m getting absolutely fleeced compared to what everyone else seems to be paying. It feels like I'm just throwing money into a black hole at this point. $3.00 So, what am I actually getting out of this? A monthly maintenance fee? Seriously, I can’t even wrap my head around the fact that in most parts of the world, you aren't getting slapped with a service charge just for the privilege of having an account sitting there with zero activity. It feels like a total racket, honestly. And it doesn't even stop at the basic fees; the whole list of "service charges" they tack on just keeps growing and growing, which really makes you wonder how much money these big banks are raking in just by nickel-and-diming us on these little fees. $3.00 So then, it’s definitely not them making things go sideways!!

I mean, what can you do? Maybe we should all just go unbanked and ask them to hand over our cash in envelopes like they used to twenty years ago!
The only bank I know that’s still charging transaction fees is Goldman Sachs (correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think any others are doing it), though I guess even they won't be able to get away with it for much longer; just like how they hiked up those online banking fees, this will probably happen too, it's just a matter of time, I suppose.

Your logic doesn't quite hold up here. If there hasn't been any transaction activity within a six-month window, that monthly maintenance fee isn't being charged. A service fee itself doesn't count as account activity.

Lately, this thing keeps popping up every single time I try to buy something. I spent way too much time digging through that stupid "student perks" PDF they sent out, but honestly, it’s total garbage—makes zero sense. If anyone actually understands how this works, please help a brother out.😁

Also, since I'm already stuck browsing this subforum... is Zabka still refusing to work with PayPal?

You have to distinguish between account maintenance fees and transaction fees. In certain account models, you get a specific number of free transactions included per month.

I'm sending an inquiry over to Z%B. I'll post their response here once I get it. Honestly, I hope you're right—if you are, it makes zero sense why they haven't made that clear on their website. They definitely have the edge over other banks if they truly waive the fee under those conditions.🤷

I mean, what’s really the point of having a checking account if there hasn't been any activity for six months?
Is the goal just to collect more chip cards for a collection, I guess?
If someone goes six months without using the account and then finally makes one single deposit, does that mean they get hit with another fee for the next six months or something like that?
I'm a little confused about how that works, maybe. 🤷

Hi everyone, I’m looking for some advice on choosing or switching our banking packages. Currently, I have a basic checking account ($6.75) and I also use a Mastercard revolving credit card. My partner is on an older Optimum plan ($6.75) with a standard Mastercard, a checking account, and online banking through Z%B. We’re wondering if upgrading to a family Zaba fan package ($20) would actually be worth it for us. We both use the mobile app regularly. I’ve been trying to navigate the Z%B website to compare all these heavy-duty premium packages, but I have to admit, I’m struggling to make sense of it all... I’m particularly interested in the travel insurance add-on included in the family plan, but I’m not sure if the cost makes sense for a joint package given how we currently use
.
Thanks in advance to all you kind souls for the help! 🙂

Of course it’s worth it. You end up paying both $13 plus all those fees for your credit and debit cards. But with the family Z%B plan, everything is $20—it covers the card fees, the payment assistant, and even lets you link your accounts together. Check out the details here =>

So, I've got a dynamic fan setup going on. This might be a pretty silly question, but bear with me. If I move a larger chunk of cash from my checking account over to my savings account, am I going to get hit with any fees? Thanks!

There aren't any fees for moving money between your own accounts. Though, I have to admit, I'm a bit confused about why you'd want to move funds from checking to savings 🙂
usually people are doing the exact opposite 🙂

Does anyone know if the Z%B fan covers potential motorcycle breakdowns while traveling abroad?
My girlfriend and I have that fan, and we're gearing up for a pretty long road trip on our bike...
thanks

I’m no longer a student, so I need to switch over to a different account type or plan.

The main thing for me is whether my checking and savings account numbers stay the same. I have several recurring transfers set up on my checking account that I don't want to mess with.

Also, how do they actually verify student status? My boyfriend has to provide a transcript from his university every single year, yet I haven't been asked for anything in five years.

🤷

Thanks. 🙂

They don't have a clue what they're doing. Seriously, just leave it alone until your card expires. Once it's done, you'll have to swing by the Chase branch to pick up the new one, and they MIGHT ask to see some ID or your student ID, but honestly, they usually just glance at it without even opening the file. You don't even need to be an active student; you just need to have that ID in your hand.😁

I have some gold-backed savings at Ziraat Bankası through their Ally Bank account, which is set to mature on April 12th. I’m wondering if I need to show up in person that day to collect the funds, or if there's a seven-day grace period where the term automatically renews?
