Just look at the reality of things. I'm a working mom with one kid... the workload is already insane. Now just imagine if I had twelve!
You're totally messing with me here! You think we're all just idiots typing away, playing some sort of "mommy" character?👎

Besides, I won't even remember this life anyway, so it'll just happen all over again... I'll end up scratching at my brain once more...

thompson-get a grip.

😕
Honestly, you’re being selfish. Has it even crossed your mind to step up and help your mom? To actually be useful? That’s your way out, you spoiled brat!
Do you ever stop to ask how they're doing? Why don't you try focusing on the people you love for once?
Or is it just because you aren't the center of the universe right now? Your old man had the audacity to get sick so you could throw a tantrum and make everything about you? You're pathetic.

Don't you care how they're doing? Why can't you focus on the people who love you most for a change?
Or maybe you're just acting like this because you aren't the center of the universe right now... you're practically brazenly making yourself sick just so you can grab everyone's attention. It's pathetic!

...Look, if you care so much, why don't you come over here and help? It’s easy to talk big when you’re looking in from the outside and think you have all the answers... but trust me, it's not that simple. Only we know what we're actually going through. This whole mess has been dragging on for years now. If I hadn't been stepping up, everyone would have lost their minds by now. You can't keep running at full speed forever; eventually, anyone would get burned out. I'm helping out every single day... and like I said before, I don't want to dump my own problems onto my family. If I were truly selfish, I'd be constantly whining to them about how hard things are for me...

If you actually manage to remember that you have a head to begin with. You aren't exactly putting it to good use right now, either.
( unless we're talking about the lower 😲 )

Go ahead, go play nice with your old man and give him a massage with some rubbing alcohol; you’ll feel like a brand new person afterward.

...look, this isn't your typical textbook illness. I don't want to get too deep into the specifics right now, but it’s about much more than just physical health...

Why on earth would you go after him like that? He came to the forum because he actually needs someone to talk to about the things weighing on his mind, and instead, you just jump down his throat! Don't listen to her, she's being totally mean-spirited!

It’s not malice, it’s mercy 😂
And you, Scott Cooper
You really went there... just get it all out, why don't you? It’s not like anyone on this forum is going to send you a bill for your outbursts.
Maybe change your username afterward so people stop messing with you (though that would be pretty petty!)

So, did you go see a therapist? Honestly, that sounds like exactly what you need right now.

... honestly, that was your lowest point yet. Just let it all out, go ahead; nobody on this forum is going to send you a bill for your venting.
Maybe change your handle later so people stop picking on you (though that might actually be pretty mean!)

By the way, have you tried deep tissue massage? That sounds more like the therapy you actually need.

If I decide to stick around this forum, I’m not changing my username. I’m just not...

Don't let things get to you too much; you're still young and have so much life ahead of you. What will happen when you're truly grown up?

. . .

Those kinds of racing, uncontrollable thoughts are actually classic hallmarks of OCD—obsessive-compulsive disorder, that is. Now, I'm certainly not a doctor and I'm not making a diagnosis here, but I think you'll find it pretty easy to see if that resonates with you! Have you noticed there's already an entire thread dedicated specifically to this topic? There's also another discussion happening elsewhere that includes some really helpful resources and links regarding these issues: LINK.
Also, if you're looking for some solid reading material, I can highly recommend a book on the subject that was just released recently over here:
Boeing and Wilcken: "Compulsion and Intrusive Thought" (published by Penguin Random House; you should be able to find it at any local bookstore).

Come on, guys, what do you mean "disorders"? When I first joined this forum, looking at all the stuff people talk about here, I started thinking like 80% of my friends probably deal with something. Honestly, I could list a hundred different instances of compulsion and intrusive thought that I deal with, but I don't really sweat it. For example, I’ll find myself counting the paving stones on a sidewalk at school, or being super careful about how I step down stairs so it feels "right," or even counting the lane markings while I'm riding in a car... but if I decide I want to stop, I just turn my head and find something else to focus on.

The desire to simply cease existing usually kicks in when you’re trapped in a life loop that refuses to let you feel ALIVE—when every day is just a carbon copy of the last. In that kind of funk, finding any sense of purpose is nearly impossible, and without a North Star to guide you... well, there's no reason to keep moving forward. Some people try to find that meaning through RELIGION—essentially a desperate search for something higher—but modern faith has splintered into thousands of factions that have drifted far from their original roots. Most of these groups are built on distorted foundations of once-good ideas, which ironically leads to centuries of bloody warfare; the more certain someone is about their specific "truth," the more blinded and radical they become toward anyone who disagrees.

You actually have the power to shake things up—to perform a bit of life-restoration by chasing enough adrenaline to get your blood pumping before death inevitably catches up with us all. Of course, you can also avoid falling prey to those various cults that target people exactly like us—those of us who see every passing second as just another step closer to the inevitable decay of our bodies and brains. That’s exactly how they lure people in; they convince them that if they just lift their left foot while tapping their right against Marcus Aurelius's principles, they’ll somehow be spared from what fate has in store for the rest of us.
You can actually make use of this time you've been given—this youth—if nothing else, just to spite and mock that urge to die. How? Look, if you think you're brave enough to end it all, then use that same courage to experiment with living instead. Take up an extreme sport, learn skydiving, put yourself in situations where you’re staring death in the face. I guarantee you'll start valuing life only when it's illuminated by perspectives much more interesting than the ones you've had so far.

Most psychological struggles stem from fear. People are terrified of everything—fear of failing a class, fear of getting fired, fear of illness, death, loneliness, or even just expressing how they truly feel. Some fear a mediocre existence that drags on until old age. But there’s a cure for all of it; we just need to wake up the inner adventurers within us—the parts that push us to engage with the world and the vast spaces around us. We need to stop being so obsessively focused on our own internal suffering and complexes, which often drive us to subconsciously destroy others just to feel better. Suffering is really just a byproduct of being too self-absorbed. Once we start absorbing the world around us more broadly, we'll be too exhausted by the sheer momentum of existence to hear that inner voice whining about itself.

I'm guessing you're feeling pretty insecure and unhappy with your physical appearance—otherwise, you wouldn't be brooding on a forum. Besides, someone who genuinely believes they add something beautiful to the world, or thinks they're brilliant and handsome, would never dream of dying because their ego would make them feel too important to leave. But someone who feels small and insignificant—like an ant that nobody notices, let alone the stars or the cosmos—will eventually feel like they're just redundant to the universe.

I assume you're surrounded by flatlands, much like I used to be. That beautiful, agonizing emptiness that invites loneliness into your mind; when everything for miles is just level and identical, you can't help but feel tiny. And what is there to expect? More winter fog or sweltering summers? How can you find a glimmer of hope when your environment offers zero surprises? All you need to do is change your scenery—start walking, and keep walking until you hit some high ground.

Climb a mountain, reach a vantage point, and drink in the views that will offer a beauty your life hasn't seen yet. When you look out over the expanse beneath you, you'll feel like you finally have some control over the distance, and it'll be easier to breathe. It provides that necessary shift to inject some much-needed optimism and willpower back into your soul. All you need is a change, and that's achievable no matter how dark things look right now. If I were an old man, I wouldn't bother saying this—it would sound fake.

First thing you should aim for is succeeding at college—or even just high school—simply to feel some semblance of self-satisfaction. Beyond that, success is what actually grants you the leverage to change your circumstances. If you can’t find a reason to succeed, if you don't dream of one day buying a flashy car just to show off a little, or if you haven't stumbled upon some profound life philosophy to make sense of existence... then just achieve something so you can travel and explore this planet we call home. Believe me, witnessing the sheer diversity of natural beauty and the people scattered across this globe is something truly transcendent...

Then there's falling in love—that will shift your entire world. There is so much left for you to experience. Do you know what it feels like to touch a woman's skin, to run your hands through her hair, to find warmth in eyes looking back at you, or to hold someone who becomes your entire universe? Nothing on this earth carries more meaning than love. It fills the void and pushes away the nonsense. If you're currently stuck in a phase of unrequited longing, or if you're convinced no girl will ever give you a second glance, just realize how many living beings are out there waiting for your affection. Realize how many natural wonders and connections are available to you simply because you exist! You could do anything—you could go mad and become a Napoleon, you could spiral into addiction and wreck subway cars, you could be a straight-A student and earn awards... you can do whatever you want, yet you're just planning to die. There is always plenty of time for death, but for life, every single day brings less of it...
Change without dying is entirely possible; it's driven by our own willpower and the simple desire to be better...

Good luck...

Spot on. I recently hit those same realizations myself, though I have to admit, faith played a massive role in getting me there. Once I started leaning into my faith more deeply, I suddenly felt this sense of security and warmth in the world—it made life feel more beautiful than ever before. I did go through a little crisis recently, but honestly, I think it’ll just help solidify where I stand. I remember back in the summer about three years ago... okay, I was basically just a kid then, but still... I was constantly stressing over everything. Who was dumber than me but getting better grades? Who looked better? I’d spend all day just moping around the house because I thought life was going to be boring. I eventually sorted that out through faith and some serious self-reflection. I also used to be really unhappy with how I looked, even though there wasn't much reason to be. I was just jealous of guys who had those pro athlete bodies. So, I finally took matters into my own hands, started hitting the gym regularly, and now I can say I'm actually in great shape. That was a huge breakthrough for me; it totally cured my biggest insecurity. And yeah, the girls seem to notice too, which gives me a ton of confidence and way less drama in my life. The takeaway is that you can achieve anything if you work on yourself, especially when you're young and still growing. And I think Betty Thomas has a lot of potential to do the same. Seriously, it's not worth taking your own life. If you're feeling that low, you should at least try every single good thing life has to offer first—at least die having experienced some actual pleasure. Besides, suicides go to hell. I could never even dream of doing that, because the suffering there is a billion times worse than anything we deal with on Earth.
