xatillda, you've got that thread going about wedding costs. There's actually a girl from the Midwest in there too 😉

If you're actually looking for these cakes, just hit up —or maybe just shoot me a DM with a phone number —it’s from this bakery called Delicije, basically just a custom cake shop... they've got a huge selection, and the prices aren't too bad, I guess. They're located over in Memphis, right by the water tower. You can even have them make cakes based on a photo or whatever vision you have in mind!

xattillda, don't sweat it. I'm not on here all that often, so I honestly can't say who the go-to experts are and who isn't 😉
For our wedding with about 90 guests, we ended up spending roughly $19
for the specifics—you should probably check out that other thread again.
I totally get why you're trying to nail down a ballpark figure, but it’s so hard to estimate what your big day might cost. It really depends on the person. One couple might drop $10,000 on a photographer, someone else puts it all into the dress, another focuses on the rings, one person might spend $50 just on me, and someone else might only spend $300 (okay, I'm exaggerating a bit there; those aren't exact prices, just my best guess 🙂). We all have such different priorities 😉
If there's any way we can help out, just let us know 🙂

Angela Alvarez6, please post those photos in the cake thread so everyone can see them! But please, do delete the phone number—we aren't supposed to post contact info or use this space for self-promotion (and if I'm being honest, this feels a little bit like an ad 🤷)

fine, I didn't realize where that went... and yeah, it's basically an ad for a local maker who's close to me, ....

A new wedding venue just opened up right near Central Park in Indianapolis. It is absolutely stunning! If anyone wants more details, I’ve posted my cell number over on my blog... gotta run, talk soon! Beyoncé!🙂

Hey everyone—has anyone here actually worked with FedEx out of Savannah for custom invitation printing?
I’ve been scrolling through Facebook forever and honestly, I just can't find a print shop that gets my vision. Most places just have these cookie-cutter templates where they swap out the text or just reorder some stock designs, but you can't really change anything else. It’s all just... the same.
Anyway, I ran into the folks from FedEx at a trade show in Indianapolis, and a woman there mentioned they do fully custom work upon request.
Does anyone know how their process actually works and what kind of damage it does to my wallet?

FedEx actually handled our invitations, and they did exactly what we asked for... She'll sit down with you, walk through what's possible, and give you a quote right then and there. Ours was pretty minimal—just a nice heavy cardstock and a little bit of embossing—but it looked great. We paid $1.75 per piece. Honestly, she is such a pro and works incredibly fast; she turned around 150 invites for us in just a single day... Good luck!

If you're looking for high-quality photography without getting ripped off, check out www.fotoogi.com. This photographer is based out of Savannah—really solid work, uses top-tier gear. I guess you won't regret it.

Since we're talking about photographers, I should probably weigh in. My fiancé and I visited Shutterfly in Savannah today, and to put it mildly, the experience was an absolute disaster. I have never encountered anything more unprofessional or rude in my life. First, we asked if we could see a few samples of their work to get a sense of their style. They told us they had no idea where those were kept and suggested that whatever was displayed in the shop was all there is. We were stunned. Then we asked about invitation options, and they handed us this ancient, battered album that was literally falling apart. Everything inside was torn and crushed; it looked older than time itself. As for the guy working there, he made it clear he didn't want to be bothered, let alone help customers. He was incredibly rude and unpleasant. A total catastrophe. I honestly don't understand how anyone can run a business with that kind of attitude.

Just wanted to mention that I placed an order today from a lady in Savannah for a custom reverence (280 cm $433). We designed it together, and she is incredibly patient and professional. It should be ready in about two weeks. I also managed to find some guest favors there, and I’ll likely pick up the glassware for the tables too. If anyone needs her contact info, feel free to reach out. 🙂

I’d be happy to walk you through what I picked up... I know they look like a bit of an investment at first glance, but once you see how much is actually packed into the kit, it starts to make more sense. It's definitely one of those "buy once, cry once" situations where you're paying for the quality and convenience of having everything in one place. So, inside the kit, you've got the core essentials, but there are a few specialized pieces that really justify the price tag. There's the main applicator, which feels incredibly sturdy, some high-grade prep wipes, a couple of different types of finishing tools, and the actual formula itself, which is quite generous in volume. It’s all very organized too—everything has its own little spot so nothing gets lost or messy... it just makes the whole process feel way more seamless. Let me know if you want me to break down the specific ingredients or anything else...🙂

Do you happen to have a photo of the favors so we can see how they look? And would you mind sending over her number or address via private message?

Since my wedding theme is gold and burgundy, my wife and I decided to custom-design the boutonnieres. We went with a thick, two-centimeter burgundy band as the base. On top, there's a slightly larger champagne-colored rose accented with fine gold glitter, finished off with a small burgundy bow at the bottom. She also added some gold wire accents to tie everything together. Instead of using pins, she’s going to use adhesive on the back for a cleaner look. Personally, I think they look great.

A little more about the venue 🙂. So, the walls are painted this lovely light blue, and they provide chair covers $5.00/piece. The layout is split by floor—the kitchen is downstairs, and they have a dumbwaiter right by the bar to move everything up. Honestly, you really need to see it in person. It’s gorgeous, seats about 300 people, and there's plenty of parking. Most importantly, since they’re just starting out, if you're a good negotiator, you can definitely snag a discount and get a great deal. They offer a few different menus, but everything is pretty flexible... Good luck!🙂😉

So, I know this DJ who did my friend's wedding. He's great. I actually have my own wedding coming up soon, but I couldn't book him because he’s been out of Indianapolis since mid-June and his schedule is totally slammed.
He's originally from Indy—a bit more old-school, but he's got tons of experience.

Here’s the link, maybe it helps someone out.

Wishing everyone happy and joyful celebrations!

Regarding our experience with FedEx—they actually handled all of our invitations and thank-you notes. We had an invitation $1.75 and then thank-you cards for $3.50 each. They truly tailor everything to your specific vision; for instance, we opted for a heavy champagne-colored cardstock layered with translucent vellum, sometimes with a ribbon and sometimes without. On that vellum layer, you can print endless beautiful designs, like delicate florals or butterflies. I would wholeheartedly recommend them. Honestly, your best bet is to just head down there in person so you can see the quality for yourself.

Hey everyone out in the Midwest, does anyone know if there's someone who could put together a "light show" for an event? Is there any local company in the Atlanta-Savannah area that handles that kind of thing? And does anyone have a rough idea of what the pricing looks like...

I heard that a production company over in Chicago offers something similar. I managed to snag their number, though I haven't actually picked up the phone yet. Apparently, they handle everything—full video production, photography, and from what I gathered, even a full light show setup. If you're interested, let me know and I'll shoot the number over to you via DM.

These guys are based out of Indianapolis. They do light shows, but their schedule fills up fast, so you really need to book them early—they were already booked up for my wedding party.
The crew over at the local precinct had both a smoke machine and those bubble machines; it honestly just depends on what you end up asking for.
