I bought the test because I’ve been feeling nauseous every single morning... it feels like something is actually moving around in my lower abdomen... so I checked the calendar and realized we were most active right during my fertile window
.
And then I get this incredibly "precise" result that says positive-negative🤷

But honestly, I just have this gut feeling that something is actually happening...

We told you what we know (which is exactly what any OB-GYN would tell you if you asked): stop buying tests until you actually miss your period. A friend of mine had two negative tests even two weeks after her period was late—she was pregnant, but the hormone levels in her urine were just too low, i.e., it was too early. If you're feeling nauseous, it's likely not from pregnancy—even if you *are* pregnant—BECAUSE IT'S TOO EARLY. ☕ But hey, feel free to keep throwing money at tests if that's your idea of fun.

Why don't you just go get a beta hCG test done?
That’s the only way to be 100% sure.
No dilemma there.🙂

Honestly, there is zero point in doing anything until her period actually arrives—for heaven's sake. 🙄

What do you mean by that? 🤷
You've got me a little confused... what do you mean "until she gets her period"? If she's pregnant, she won't get it at all.

Look, I took a Beta test 11 days post-ovulation—so about 3 or 4 days before my period was due—and it was 40.

Anything over 5 counts as pregnancy. And I didn't just check out of curiosity; it's critical for me. By week 5, I need a confirmed pregnancy via bloodwork AND an ultrasound to prove it's in the uterus before I can start the medication I require.

So, I still don't follow your logic. 🤷

James Cox6, I honestly think Jerry Bailey47 was probably thinking about the missed period when she said that—she just phrased it a bit clumsily 😉

Look, I’m right there with you on the fact that a blood test is the only way to know for sure if she's pregnant. If silentjackal7 really wants to stop guessing and end the suspense, they should just head over to the clinic tomorrow for a beta test and call it a day.

Aha... 🙂
Here’s the thing—if her period is due today, then by tomorrow, if she's actually pregnant, that beta level will be at least 120
And silentjackal7... just get the test done in the afternoon... those numbers usually double up by then if you're pregnant.

It’s probably easier for her to just wait for her period to arrive. That’s usually the first real sign—from what I gather, her period hasn't even been late yet, which means she'd only be about two weeks along. No standard test is going to give her a reliable answer right now, other than the specific one you mentioned—but why go through the hassle of getting blood drawn and wasting money on tests when her period is due in a few days? Honestly, if she's that anxious, she can go get the bloodwork done, but once she sees her doctor, the first thing they're going to ask is whether her period has started.🤷

To be honest, I didn't read the whole thing closely enough..
Let's look at the details again...

Dec 17th - Day 1
Assuming her cycles are regular at 28-29 days, ovulation would have been around New Year's. That makes today 8 DPO, or Day 23

You're right 🙂, I was just skimming... she should probably just wait until her period is due and then take a test.

silentjackal7 said:Oh, I almost forgot... my last period started on December 17th of last year. 😁

If her last period was December 17th, then her next one should be around January 13th—assuming she’s actually regular. Since today is January 8th, if she's pregnant, she’s about a week along. 🙄 Or did I completely miss the mark here?

Good grief, I honestly thought I had misread it the first time—so I went back to double-check. 😁

No, look, I didn't mean anything by it—it's not like you guys have zero clue what's going on. I just meant, honestly, you all know as much as I do. Probably more. You're basically right on par with my OB-GYN at this point, and if I’d gone to see him this morning, he would’ve told me the exact same thing... sorry, I phrased that badly.

Obviously, I'm going to wait out these next few days until my period is due, and since my appointment is at the end of the month anyway, that’s the plan. If things go well, great, I'll be happy. But if not... well, then it's just 😁
I'll probably swing by CVS in the morning, though I'm sure the pharmacist there will give me the same old advice too.

Honestly, I feel a lot better just getting this off my chest and talking to you guys. Your replies are like a breath of fresh air, seriously... helps me breathe easier.😁

I know I’m seeing the title here, but I’m still gonna throw out a question that’s probably been asked a hundred times already. Still, every single one of us thinks we’re some kind of special case, right?😉

So, here’s the deal; my husband and I decided this month to start trying for a baby. No pressure or anything, we just stopped using birth control and figured if it happens, it happens!

My period should be due in about seven days. We were active about a week ago, right during the fertile window—literally every single day through that whole stretch.

And what I'm rambling about is... yeah, I know it's way too early for any tests, but I'm wondering how soon symptoms actually kick in. It feels way too early, but I've got this tension in my lower abdomen and cramps like I'm about to get my period any second. My breasts are super sore to the touch and feel heavy, and two veins have popped out on them (crazy things)😁, and they're really noticeable. Plus, yesterday and this morning, I could barely get out of bed because of dizziness, which isn't normal for me.
I've also broken out in pimples on my chest, which I *never* get!

Appetite and nausea haven't been an issue yet.

Is it too early for all this stuff? And honestly, could it all just be some hormonal imbalance? Has anyone else dealt with these exact same symptoms?

Even though we planned to take it slow and not stress, obviously my nerves are shot now. If I'm not pregnant, I might actually try to delay my period because I've been spending the whole Sunday running the math in my head like a total idiot.🙂

Sorry for the long post, but if anyone knows...🙂

feralotter8, I actually went through all those exact same symptoms before my period finally arrived—even though I was convinced we had covered our bases every single day and there was absolutely no way I could have missed. 😁
During this current cycle, I felt things that were pretty similar to PMS, except for the fact that coffee—which I usually absolutely love—was bothering me for a few days, I felt nauseous (though I kept blaming it on being more physically active than usual at the time), and my breasts felt a bit firmer and sore, with more sensitive nipples.

My cycle is typically 28 days long. I took a test on day 30 and saw a faint line, then on day 32, the line was much stronger and darker. I used the Clearblue Compact for both tests.

What I ended up doing was just—well, waiting until my period was due, seeing if it stayed away, and then testing once it actually missed.

silentjackal7, let us know how it turns out—fingers crossed! 😉

Blonde is killing me :-)))))
So I ran down to the CVS yesterday and grabbed a test, then swung by a Walgreens right after to pick up another one... and I'm not even kidding, one was positive and the other was negative. How is that even possible? I have zero clue! The one from the pharmacy had a faint line, but this other one didn't show anything except the control line... 🙂😵
Honestly, I don't have a clue either. I'm not even going to stress about what's happening downstairs right now; I'm just gonna wait until my appointment with the OBGYN at the end of the month... we calculated that my period should hit in a few days anyway... even if it doesn't show up, I am done wasting money on tests.
But man, this whole phase is a total nerve shredder... seriously... uh 🤷

Look, honey, it's obviously just too early for a clear reading. When I got pregnant, I only did two tests—the first one gave me a faint line slightly after the three-minute mark, but the next day, the line was clear as day. Though, in my humble opinion, you wouldn't see any line at all if those hormones weren't there. But hey, whatever 🤷 Your best bet is to just wait for your period. 😉 Good luck!

Hello,
forgive my sudden intrusion into this space, but I find myself with a question.
My husband and I have recently begun trying for a baby—this being our very first attempt. My period isn't due for another seven days, but I found I lacked the patience to wait; consequently, I took a Pregnancy test today. It yielded a second line—faintly pink, certainly visible, yet quite light. I am feeling rather uncertain as to whether this result is truly reliable given the lack of intensity. As for symptoms, I’ve noticed some slight breast tenderness and that familiar, nagging sensation that my period is imminent, which only adds to my confusion.

I would greatly appreciate it if you could share your thoughts or experiences regarding this.
Thank you.

Ladies, I know you’re all itching for answers, but please—just wait until you've actually missed your next period! Honestly, does anyone even bother reading the fine print on these pregnancy tests? Every single one of them clearly states that your period MUST be late for the results to mean anything at all—otherwise, you're just wasting your time.😳 😉

Nicholas Foster21, what are your cycles usually like? Do you happen to know when ovulation occurred?

Hell, there have been quite a few positive results even before the expected period arrives.
It all really comes down to the day of ovulation—and, of course, the overall cycle length. Plus, you have to consider how sensitive the tests are.
Nowadays, many tests show a clear positive line well before a missed period.

In cases of longer cycles, if the ovulation date is actually known, I don't see why anyone would feel the need to wait until day 35 or 45. For me, I saw a positive line at 12 DPO. And that was during a standard 28-day cycle, though ovulation happened a bit later than usual, so even then, the line was pretty faint. Some people see it even earlier.

But, since not everyone tracks their ovulation day or those specific symptoms tied to it so precisely, most people don't even know when conception might have actually occurred. Because of that, testing too early might just show a negative result even if someone is pregnant. So, in those types of situations, I suppose I’m more in favor of having a little patience and just waiting for the period.

I am well aware that I should probably wait until my period is actually due, but my patience has always been somewhat limited,
My cycle typically runs about 30 to 31 days—I’m expecting my next one around January 17th—and it is usually quite predictable,
However, I simply couldn't hold off any longer and decided to take a test. It showed a faint line—definitely visible, though—and I felt an immediate surge of excitement. Now, I find myself wondering if I should truly allow myself to hope, or if I'm just getting ahead of myself.

mistyridge5, I wasn't trying to be rude—everything you said is true—but it’s specifically because of what she just shared that I think waiting for her period is the better move. She could take five more tests before then and still be left in this exact same state of nervous, frantic anticipation. It just seems counterproductive. 🤷
