What my girlfriends told me was—well, a line is a line, I suppose 😍

Is it actually true that a test can't yield a false positive—only a false negative?

Jerry Bailey47 said:mistyridge5, I wasn't trying to be rude—everything you said is true—but it’s specifically because of what she just shared that I think waiting for her period is the better move. She could take five more tests before then and still be left in this exact same state of nervous, frantic anticipation. It just seems counterproductive. 🤷

Well, I get it.
Personally, I preferred to wait until I had all the facts gathered together.
Then, I finally took one (about two days later) and followed up a couple of days after that once the line was a bit clearer.
But, that's just how I handled it. 🤷

I realize some people just can't bring themselves to wait. 😁

Even if conception actually happened, you could—God forbid—end up having a period seven days later that wipes out the embryo without you even realizing it. That’s why doctors here in the States usually tell you not to bother with testing until you've actually missed your period. For instance, I was bleeding almost as heavily as my usual cycle for two months while I was pregnant. My OB-GYN just explained that in those early stages, there's nothing to be done but wait and see if the pregnancy sticks—it's basically just nature's way of weeding things out.

Honestly, I’m just crossing my fingers that my period doesn't show up and this pregnancy sticks—I'll wait a few days until my period is officially late, then run another test if nothing happens. We'll see how things go eventually.

Hell, it’s honestly because of stories like that which made me lean toward waiting a bit. It isn't like I immediately rushed off to see my OBGYN right after seeing a positive result, either—I suppose I just wanted to avoid any unnecessary stress. Sometimes, knowing all those details can be quite a double-edged sword, I guess. 🤷

Nicholas Foster21, please try not to panic. A positive test is a positive test. Maybe just wait a few more days and then take another one? There's really no need to start spinning worst-case scenarios right now. 😉

I’m expecting my period soon—I have that familiar tugging sensation in my lower abdomen, coupled with those typical tender breasts—but this test has me feeling a bit conflicted. It’s confusing, really; I know these things aren't always 100% accurate, yet part of me is desperately hoping it actually is

So, I ended up getting my period right on schedule—which, naturally, meant pregnancy was totally off my radar. Once it passed, though, my breasts started aching and swelling quite a bit. My first thought? Just some lingering hormonal leftover from a potential pregnancy. But a colleague at work—who’d been through a nearly identical ordeal—insisted I take a test. Sure enough, it came back positive about ten days after that "false" period finished. I called my OB-GYN immediately to explain the situation, but he told me there was no point coming in yet; I would have only been four weeks along, and an ultrasound wouldn't show much anyway. He just told me to wait until my next cycle and check back then. Well, the next cycle arrived, though the bleeding was a little lighter this time, lasting maybe three or four days. It wasn't until after that second bout of bleeding that I finally went in for an exam, where they confirmed I was actually about six weeks along. Because of the spotting, I had to go on strict bed rest until week twelve to make sure everything stayed secure. Thank God, everything turned out fine—I'm currently twenty-one weeks in and having a perfectly healthy pregnancy. 🙂

Breast tenderness can definitely be a pregnancy symptom, but at this point, all you can do is wait. Fingers crossed! 😉

It seems every woman follows her own path—so I suppose I have no choice but to wait and see if she actually shows up. If not, I’ll just run another test and deal with the fallout then. It is what it is.
Ladies, thank you so much for the comments and the advice; I truly appreciate it.
Best regards,

All of those could definitely be pregnancy symptoms. 😉
I feel like you might be overthinking things a little bit right now.
I actually get that same feeling sometimes—that classic pressure and some breast tenderness.
And that's since December 28th. 😉

...My cycle is usually about 31 or 32 days, so I was expecting my period around September 2nd. I decided to take a test on August 28th at 2:00 PM because I didn't want to deal with testing while I was at work that morning. A second line popped up immediately, though it was pretty faint. I went to see my doctor right on the day my period was due, but she couldn't see anything at all. So, I bought another test, took it at 9:00 AM, and I'm telling you, it came back negative. 😲...I tossed it in the trash, but then about 20 minutes later, I fished it back out and there it was—another tiny, pale little line. 😕...People say those late-appearing lines aren't reliable, and part of me thinks maybe I'm just not pregnant after all. But I am. Right now, my little one is tucked away safely in my belly, and today we're at 23 weeks plus 2 days. 😍😍...I had some stomach aches right when my period was supposed to start, and my breasts grew like crazy and were super sore. Because of that, I think patience really is a virtue. I've heard that tests almost never lie, but hey, you never truly know. For those of you who are stressing out right now, hitting your head against a wall, or just spiraling—please, try to relax. I truly believe that if a test shows positive, there’s a tiny little life inside you feeling everything you feel. Whether you're pacing the floor or staying calm, being nervous won't make you pregnant any faster if you aren't already. Don't take this the wrong way; I genuinely want the best for everyone and hope you all get your babies. I just know what anxiety feels like. I spent six months trying to conceive, buying tests every single month and obsessing over whether it worked or not. Eventually, I realized that being stressed wasn't going to change the outcome. As soon as I let go, that was the very month I saw the plus sign. That's exactly what I wish for you too. 😍

Looks like my last post was just wishful thinking, nothing more 🤷

Now, about five days before my period is even due, all the symptoms have totally vanished. Even my boobs stopped hurting—usually they’re sore right up until day one of my period, then they start to chill out, but this morning I woke up and nothing. Not even a little bit. I feel completely fine!

So now I’m just waiting on my period, which I’m sure is coming, and then I'll get back at it 😂

Better luck next month!

Thanks, ladies! 🙂

So, here is the situation: my last period started on December 29th. It was pretty much like any other one I’ve had—nothing unusually heavy or anything. However, for the past few days, I’ve been dealing with intense nausea, especially when I haven't eaten in a while, and I've already put on about 11 pounds 😲. On top of that, I’m feeling really dizzy and I find myself needing to urinate constantly, even in the middle of the night. Sometimes I get this slight sharp twinge in my lower right abdomen, though nothing too severe. My bowel movements have also changed significantly; I used to go maybe three times a day, but now I barely go once, if at all. To make matters worse, I’m feeling incredibly hot at night and just tossing and turning in bed... what could all of this potentially mean?😕

Morgan Hughes5, considering your last period started on December 29th, you should be hitting your fertile window right about now... if you're looking for guidance, you might want to dig through those health PDFs again. But honestly, if you’ve put on five pounds in just two weeks—I’d be heading straight to my doctor if I were in your shoes.

Is it actually possible to be pregnant even if I've already had my period?

I suppose anything is possible... even that. But honestly, this doesn't sound like pregnancy to me. If I were in your shoes, I'd just head to the doctor and get it sorted out...

But honestly, I only gained some weight over the course of a few months, maybe a little more, certainly not within just two weeks.😁 Sorry if I'm being a bother.🙂

And in the meantime, there have been plenty of holidays filled with an abundance of food and drinks. 😛

You mentioned that your period was just like any other—nothing out of the ordinary, right?
So, I guess I somewhat doubt that you might be pregnant.
If you want some peace of mind, maybe just take a test in the morning.

Nausea when you're hungry? Well, that usually happens when your stomach is empty, and it’s also possible that since it's the holiday season, you've gotten used to heavier, richer foods, so your stomach might just be reacting to that.
Either way, you can explain it all to yourself—even if it turns out you are pregnant and all of this is just pregnancy symptoms.
I'm telling you, if you're unsure, just take a test. Try to relax.

Good luck! 😉

Exactly, but we aren't using any kind of protection at all...🙂.That is precisely why I am thinking this way.
