Joseph Hayes54 said:I just got back from the OBGYN after having my levels checked again—hCG was at 164.52 last week, but today it dropped to 154.26. There was nothing visible on the ultrasound today, so I guess it was a miscarriage... damn. I just don't get it—how can everything go so perfectly with the first pregnancy and then this happens? 😢(((

😢 What did your doctor say about this and how it might affect future pregnancies?

Sometimes, it’s just nature's way of performing its own kind of selection. What you're going through right now is incredibly hard, but please don't think for a second that there is anything wrong with you or that this is going to happen every time.

I mean, I get it, but I just can't wrap my head around how this even happens—sometimes I start questioning if there’s something actually wrong with me after everything I went through 😢((now I'm just wondering how long we have to wait before we can try for a baby again 😢((

Walter Nelson56, my OBGYN was acting like he had absolutely no clue what was going on—just totally baffled by how my pregnancy hormone levels could be spiking like that. So, I went to see a private specialist instead, and he actually gave me some answers. Turns out, the miscarriage sample showed some kind of bacterial infection 😢((As for future pregnancies, he said once I get my first period back and things settle down, I need to run some tests to identify the specific bacteria. Then I'll start the right treatment, and once that's cleared, everything should be fine since my uterus looks perfectly healthy otherwise. We'll see how it goes—once next month rolls around and I'm feeling okay, we can try again. I’m honestly so impatient, I just really hope I never have to deal with this ever again... Anyway, my levels were at 164, then 154, and the most recent one was 158.

Joseph Hayes54, you likely experienced a biochemical pregnancy.

The good news is that there shouldn't be any lasting consequences, so you could potentially conceive again during your very next cycle and carry a baby all the way to term...

Honestly, I really hope I am—I just want to have a baby in my arms again. I can't help but feel this wave of anxiety after everything that happened; I'm just so worried about the health of my future little one 😢((but we're definitely going to try again next month, assuming we can actually pull it off 😢

I totally understand why you're feeling scared, but biochemical pregnancies are actually safe for you...

I went through the same thing during my first month, and then I was pregnant again by the very next cycle...

Anyway, tomorrow I'll be turning 32 years old 😉

I’m still bleeding—though it’s more of this weird brownish-black color than actual red, which has me a little worried about how long this is dragging on. My OB-GYN said it should wrap up in about 10 days, so I’m just crossing my fingers everything settles down soon. Huge congrats to you, by the way—wishing you a smooth finish and a healthy, strong little one! Is it a boy or a girl? 😁Hopefully, I’ll be in that blissful stage myself before too long.

Man, I've still got that waiting for me too—and it hasn't even been five days yet 😢(( ugh, I honestly can't wait for this whole thing to just be over... though I'm so relieved she's healthy... my little one is already 5 and a half. She'll be starting kindergarten next year, ufff, time really does fly 🙂)))

Had my blood drawn again today instead of doing something productive—my hormone levels are dropping while my TSH is climbing, currently sitting at 304 😢((( I honestly have no clue what’s going on anymore; they told me it was just a spontaneous miscarriage... now nothing makes sense...

How many days had passed before you went in for your blood work?

If there’s only about a two-day gap between tests, then seeing that beta levels rise like that is actually a really wonderful sign that everything is progressing exactly as it should... but if it’s been longer than that, then something might be a little bit off, and you should definitely make sure to reach out to your OB-GYN right away just to be safe...

So, what exactly did your OBGYN tell you?

Evil-smile I had my blood drawn on Thursday and my beta was 158.71, but I went back today and it jumped to 304.43—so much higher, right? I saw my OBGYN this morning and he wants me back Wednesday for an ultrasound, though he’s still playing it safe and won't confirm if it’s a miscarriage yet. Honestly, I don't even know what to think. I just left a private specialist's office, too, and she tried to tell me it's totally normal—just a "clearing phase"—but I can't wrap my head around the idea that this might all be a miscarriage. My mom had nine healthy kids—I'm actually the fourth one—and she almost never dealt with pain; her periods were just regular, and she usually didn't even realize she was pregnant until the second trimester or so. 🙂)) I'm just terrified... some people are telling me it's too early to tell, while others are convinced it's already a loss and say I shouldn't have even bothered with the blood work. I'm just a complete mess and so confused right now. 😢(((((

My doctor told me I need to go back in for more bloodwork this Wednesday—but my specialist over at the Mayo Clinic says it’s just the body cleaning itself out after that spontaneous 😢((((

It’s such a whirlwind of emotions. When I went through a chemical pregnancy myself, I was getting blood drawn every couple of days, and those levels just kept dropping until they hit zero. That's why I'm a little confused by what you're experiencing right now.
I'm really hoping everything turns out okay for you.

That’s why this whole thing feels so off to me—it should be tanking right now instead of climbing. It isn't even doubling properly or dropping correctly... I mean, try being reasonable here, I just can't wrap my head around it at all. 😢(((

That’s exactly how it went for me too... my first reading was at 63.6, but after I had a really heavy period, the second test came back at 12.1 and by the third one, it was down to 1.2

I mean, sure, that makes sense if we're talking about a miscarriage—but I’m just so confused because they're telling me it was an abortion, yet my beta levels are still sky-high... the whole thing is just a massive blur right now. I honestly can't tell if I'm actually pregnant or if I've just had a miscarriage 😢(((( Not knowing is the absolute worst part...

What if there’s actually some kind of alien interference going on here?

Because, look, it’s just been way too many days since we last checked... from Thursday until today, you really should be seeing somewhere around 700 to 800 by now, so it definitely doesn't seem like your numbers have climbed the way they were supposed to...
