Considering how long your entire cycle lasts—not just the period itself—it definitely seems like pregnancy could happen.

My cycle usually runs about 28 to 29 days, and my period has never been more than five days late...
Well, my partner and I definitely get a bit carried away sometimes...

And honestly, we both agree it's probably a bit premature to be thinking about this since neither of us has a steady career yet, plus we're still living under our parents' roof back in the suburbs... so if a test actually comes up positive, I truly have no clue what my first move would even be...😕

Listen, playing around like that when you're in this kind of position is incredibly irresponsible. If it turns out to be positive, your options aren't exactly vast; you're looking at either being supported by your parents, going through adoption, or an abortion.

I am truly hoping for a negative result for you, but please, for heaven's sake, start using protection...

To be honest, an abortion doesn't even cross my mind, and neither does adoption... my own mother had me when she was only 19, so I assume she'll step up to help if things happen, and I suppose whoever ends up in that position would get some help from their grandma too...😛

Of course, I agree with you, but I am simply suggesting that one shouldn't rely on the assumption that Mom or Grandma will always be there to pick up the pieces. It isn't fair to the child, nor is it fair to lean so heavily on parents and grandparents.

I have a quick question for those who've navigated pregnancy tests before.
On Monday, I took an Intim Plus test—on day 30 of my cycle—and at first, there was just this faint shadow that only I could see 😁, but after a few hours, it turned into a pale line that stayed visible until I tossed it that evening. My cycles usually run about 32–33 days, though they can be irregular—sometimes stretching up to 41. Tomorrow, Tuesday, I tried two Clearblue tests—one standard and one digital that cost me $23 🙂—and both were clearly negative. (None of these three tests were done with that first morning urine...) Since my period hasn't arrived yet, I'm wondering if there's any point in testing again... ? I know nobody can give me a definitive answer, but I'm curious: how many days before a period can these tests actually show a positive?

In my case, when I took my first test right around my expected period, I also saw a very faint line.
Just two days later, it became a very distinct positive 😍—one was a Clearblue (those tend to be faint), and the other was a brand from $6.75. For context, I have regular 30-31 day cycles, and my ovulation happened on day 16 that time.

It sounds like you might have tested a bit too early (it isn't recommended to test before your period is actually due), especially since your cycles aren't always consistent. If you can, try to wait a few more days, perhaps even until day 41. If your period still hasn't arrived by then, go ahead and test again. If you had a delayed ovulation this month, it would be quite difficult for a test to show a positive this soon. I am keeping my fingers crossed for you! 😉

Hey guys 😁 first off, I actually had an account way back before this one, but I totally lost my password for both my email and the forum, so that’s why I’m starting fresh with this account... I haven't really hung out in this sub before, so I really hope you’ll all be welcoming and maybe help me out if you can... anyway, let's get into it 😁

So, it was basically the last day of my moonlight (well, technically it finished two days ago on the 9th) and we were sleeping together (unprotected), and he finished inside me just a little bit before pulling out... eh, now I'm feeling some "symptoms" that I might just be making up in my head, who knows 😍 like, my breasts feel super sensitive, my lower stomach feels kind of bloated (or maybe I just ate too much, haha), I'm constantly exhausted, I get dizzy sometimes, and lately, I've been having these terrible headaches—they come and go, hit hard, then fade for a few hours and come right back... I haven't been throwing up or anything like what women usually talk about, and honestly, even if I am pregnant, it feels way too early for these symptoms to show up...

Just to clarify, my boyfriend and I weren't specifically trying for a baby, but we have talked about it and we'd be so happy if I were pregnant, since it wouldn't be "unplanned," it would just be arriving a little earlier than expected (at least, that's how my favorite guy put it 😍 )

My period usually starts right on the 6th of every month at around 10 AM, until that annoying red stuff finally shows up 😬

It's still way too early for a pregnancy test, but I just couldn't resist jumping on here to ask what you guys think about these symptoms, and if it's even possible to get pregnant during your period (since my cousins act like it's impossible, even though that sounds totally absurd to me, but whatever)

So yeah, I know this is a long post, but I hope you understand—I'm just so excited and anxious, but also a little scared because I'm just so unsure 🙂

Kisses to all my fellow moms-to-be and everyone else out there feeling the same anxiety 😍

I would also argue that pregnancy is highly improbable in this scenario, particularly if your cycle is typically consistent. You can use this link to estimate your fertile window, which provides a rough approximation; I used a similar method and conceived during my very first attempt. http://www.covermagazin.com/plodni-dani.htm

It is certainly possible to be pregnant if you experienced early ovulation; while it is rare, it is by no means impossible. The symptoms you are describing are also consistent with pregnancy, and personally, I never once felt nauseous during my own pregnancy.
But that is just my opinion; wait until the 6th to take a test and you will see. Again, despite the common misconceptions, it is definitely not impossible.

I think things will just work out the way they’re supposed to. To be honest, I’m kind of torn—part of me really wants to be a mom right now, but then another part of me feels like maybe we should just hold off for a little while longer 🙂

I’m basically counting down the days until January 6th to see if my period actually shows up. If it doesn't, I'm heading straight to the drugstore to grab a test.

Thanks so much for all the advice, everyone 😬

God help me

I’m also stuck wondering why my period hasn't shown up. My last one was November 16th, and it’s already late. It's usually clockwork, too. I don't know if I'm just imagining things or if it's real, but I've got at least three pregnancy symptoms hitting me: the missed period, this dull cramping in my lower abdomen like it's coming but never does, waves of hot flashes, being nauseous all day, and honestly, I feel like crying over absolutely nothing. I took a test this afternoon and it was negative.
Is it still too early for the test to be right?

It really depends on how long your typical cycles usually last. However, if your cycles are generally shorter than 40 days, I don't believe it is too early to tell. Perhaps you should wait just a few more days and then try the test again.

My cycles usually run on a tight 28 or 29-day schedule. And I totally forgot to mention the sleep issues—plus, I’m running to the bathroom constantly. Honestly, I can't even remember a time when my period was this late.

So, I’m not entirely sure what’s going on with me...
Basically, I’ve been sleeping with my boyfriend, though I can't recall the last time it actually happened. Last night, I woke up twice because I was vomiting, and today I just feel incredibly drowsy. My period is due any day now—could this potentially be pregnancy??

It might be, or it might not be.

Look, based strictly on the details you have shared here, we would all need a crystal ball to give you any kind of definitive answer.

Perhaps you should try testing again tomorrow morning. If the result comes back negative once more, I would personally suggest scheduling an appointment with your OB-GYN just to be safe.

Hey ladies 🙂
I need some insight from you all... so, my partner and I slept together without any protection this past Monday, Dec 24th—we got a little carried away 😁. My last period was on Dec 2nd, and my cycles usually run about 34-35 days, so I’m expecting my next one around the middle of next week. According to my fertility tracker, we actually hit our peak window... I don't want to spiral into a panic thinking this is the "miracle moment" if it isn't, but honestly 😁 I can't help but get excited at the thought of a little one 🙂. Anyway, I'm rambling a bit here 😁. My question is: what's more likely? A positive test or my period? I was planning on taking a test next week so I know where I stand—that way I won't be sitting around waiting for a period that might not come. Is it too early to test, or should I hold off for a few more days?

That fertility calendar (the counting method, right?) doesn't really serve much purpose, and you can't truly know if those are your fertile days unless you are consistently measuring your temperature and checking mucus every single day. 😉

Your chances are roughly 50-50.

Go ahead and take a test on the actual day you expect your period, or perhaps a couple of days after, but definitely not before then.
I am keeping my fingers crossed that everything turns out exactly how you hope; it's never quite the "perfect" timing for a baby, but everything has a way of working itself out 😉
