Edward Kern3 said:So, uh, how much are these things actually running people for? Like, which one is supposed to be the gold standard? What’s the priciest option out there versus the absolute cheapest one you can grab at Walgreens?

Just head over to a CVS or Walgreens and grab one that works anytime—I think they run about 40 bucks $20 if I remember right. Honestly, any of them work fine.
As for the cheapest ones, no clue, since they weren't even stocking those here in Metković.

Hey everyone, I need to pick your brains on something.
How is it even possible for a period to show up pink? My cycle is incredibly regular—exactly 28 days—and it arrived right on schedule. But instead of the usual flow, I’m seeing these pink spots and some brownish discharge... it doesn't look anything like my typical period.
Usually, it lasts about four days, and today is day four, but the flow is incredibly light... almost non-existent. Could this be what people call implantation bleeding?
My cycles are normally heavy and tend to drag on for a full week.
I called my OB-GYN... they told me there's a chance I might be pregnant and that I really need to come in for an exam.
What do you all think? Is this just a "false" period? I actually experienced some pregnancy symptoms about a week ago. Still, I'm reaching out because I've already taken two tests and both came back negative...
Nothing makes sense right now.
I'm honestly starting to spiral... I'm posting this again because I'm losing my mind.
Should I go out and buy another test?😁

Look, let's break this down logically. First off, you were having sex on the very last day of your period, so the odds of conception are basically zero. Second, those symptoms you listed? They aren't definitive proof of anything; honestly, it’s just as likely you're feeling them because you're hyper-focused on the idea of being pregnant. Third—and this is the kicker—you took two tests and they both came back NEGATIVE!! Plus, your period actually showed up. You aren't pregnant, Zeno.

It’s pretty obvious you’ve kind of lumped me and Taylor Swift together here 😁
I haven't even bought a test yet... I'm totally broke right now, and I can't exactly ask my parents because... well, that's a whole other long story... 🤣
so now I'm stuck just waiting until my paycheck hits, and I think I might actually lose my mind in the meantime... 😢

You’re clearly kind of mixing me up with Ariana Grande 😁

Oh, one more thing I wanted to ask—I just heard someone mention that you can actually ask your doctor to order those routine blood tests... like, just straight up request them? Is that actually a thing?

I’m not really sure which test you’re talking about—if you mean the beta HCG, I couldn't get my doctor to run it, so I have no idea how it works for everyone else. I ended up just paying out of pocket at a private lab for three days straight.

Yeah, that beta test... I guess that’s definitely the most foolproof way to find out for sure. Any idea what the damage is going to be? How much does it cost?

There are budget brands available for about $6.75
. If I recall correctly, your last period was around August 20th, and if you had unprotected sex on September 2nd, those likely coincided with your fertile window, making pregnancy a distinct possibility. You should be able to take a test right now if your cycle is regular, and the results should be reliable.

08/25
Yeah, it was unprotected... even though he pulled out beforehand.
We usually use protection, though.

I ended up paying $43 per single withdrawal—so basically, over three days, it came out to 3*$48

You mentioned your period ended on August 25th. Fertility windows and pregnancy calculations are always based on the first day of your cycle. Look, I can't be certain, and a test would give you the only real answer, but if he pulled out in time, the odds of pregnancy are slim, though nothing is ever truly impossible. My partner and I have relied on this specific method—which most people find unreliable—for years without any unplanned pregnancies. Once we actually decided to conceive, it happened on the very first attempt. 🙂

Grab a test for about $6.75 and you’ll have your answer right there.
If you're pregnant, it'll tell you; if not, it won't.

I should probably just go see a doctor... they'll have the actual answers...
I don't understand why I'm seeing this pink spotting instead of a normal period...
If you're telling me I'm not... then why is this one test saying I am?....
Maybe I should stop reading this thread... before I lose my mind.....

Look, if both tests came back negative, then you almost certainly aren't pregnant—assuming you didn't take them too early, of course. If you waited until after that spotting happened and they were still negative, then that’s your answer. If you're still feeling anxious about it, maybe grab some $6.75 and pick up one more test just to give yourself that final bit of peace of mind. As for those physical symptoms, pregnancy signs and PMS symptoms are basically identical. We tend to overanalyze them whenever we're either really hoping to conceive or worried that we might have, so my advice is to try not to dwell too much on those "symptoms"

Hey! My last period ended on September 15th—it only lasted three days and was super light. Lately, my back and ovaries have been aching, and now my breasts are starting to feel sore too. It feels like my period is coming, but it’s way too early for that 😕😕 If it ends up being late, I'll grab a test, but there's still a while to go... Has anyone else dealt with symptoms like this and actually been pregnant??
By the way, I'd love to be pregnant since my husband and I have been trying for a baby for two years now 🙂

Hey, my period is already two weeks late, but I took a test a week ago and it came back negative. My breasts are pretty sore—they feel heavy and firm—and I'm dealing with constant heartburn. Honestly, I have no clue what to think anymore... anyone else dealt with something similar?

I’ve definitely been there, though in my case, it usually turns out to be a hormonal imbalance.
I'm not sure what your typical cycle looks like or how your hormones usually behave, but things like high stress levels or even traveling to a different climate can throw everything off; I know that moving to a new city once completely disrupted mine.

If the home test was negative but you still have these lingering doubts, the most reliable way to get a definitive answer would be to go in for a blood test.

I’m leaning towards the hormone theory too. I’ve been dealing with extra hair growth on my face—specifically under my chin and above my lip—for a few years now, and my OBGYN basically brushed it off. My cycles are totally regular, though they shift by a couple of days here and there, and honestly, who isn't constantly stressed out these days? 🤷
