pocahontas said:First off... THANKS for such a detailed reply, seriously, thank you...๐Ÿ™‚

Honestly, I think a test would show I'm pregnant... if I had actually been pregnant for this long, but right now I'm just terrified, which is why I even suspected it... Because of the anxiety, I've spent the last few days reading everything under the sun about pregnancy, early symptoms, and all that... but I haven't found anything concrete, so I'm just spiraling... especially since most places say early symptoms are almost identical to PMS... so I probably just turned my PMS into pregnancy anxiety... hopefully it's just PMS...
Though I don't really know when those first signs start, or when they turn into the stronger symptoms that let me know my body is actually changing... or how it changes...
As for the pill, I was on it for two years... stopped six months ago after talking to my OBGYN because it was triggering migraines... I was in a stable relationship back then.... And the guy I did this with wasn't a stranger... we've known each other for years and are close friends... we wanted to try being more than friends, but realized pretty quickly that our friendship works better ๐Ÿ™‚ I know that isn't an excuse for unprotected sex... but I'm certain he's healthy...

I don't see this as you lecturing me, just good advice, and I appreciate it...

Regarding the doctor... I've been meaning to go for a while, it's just hard to coordinate since I commute between two cities, and I'm only in the city where my doctor is located on weekends...

Truthfully... I really hope I'm not pregnant... I love kids and would love to have them one day... but I don't think it's time yet, I'm not in a position to have them, and I don't think I'm ready either...

Thanks again for the response... and the advice...
I'll let you know what happens ๐Ÿ‘

Best,

I didn't mean to lecture you. Everyone knows their own business.๐Ÿ™‚ I'm glad you took my post as advice rather than a lecture.
As for the gynecologist, don't be lazy about going. For instance, my doctor told me once that every womanโ€”especially younger womenโ€”should get a Pap smear at least once a year, not to mention regular checkups. Try to organize your schedule and see her. It's not just about pregnancy; it's about general health.
Right now, I'd just recommend you calm down and stop obsessing over being pregnant, because by all accounts, you aren't. Your period could be late for any number of reasons; inflammation, hormonal shifts, a bacterial thing, maybe even stress. Don't let it scare you, I'm just pointing it out. I know my body, just like every woman does. You know yourself too, and you know when something feels off. That's why I suggest seeing the doctor ASAP, even if you already started your period.
They'll be able to tell you best what the issue is and why your cycle is so irregular.
GOOD LUCK and ๐Ÿ˜˜

Just let me know how you're feeling after hearing this. I'm praying to God that everything stays on track and this pregnancy works out. But staying positive!!!!!

My last period was from October 2nd to the 8th.

OH MY GODDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD!!!
CONGRATULATIONS FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART!!!!

Elizabeth said:Thanks, ladies, for the replies; itโ€™s driving me crazy having no one to talk to about this. I have to admit, I actually started hoping I was pregnant rather than not. I've already read a mountain of articles online... Thank God my boyfriend took the news so well, though I don't know what I'd do if he hadn't. Telling my parents is the worst part. My sister just got married two months ago, and there's probably another wedding and a baby coming soon... I have no idea where we'll find the money...

Hopefully we'll be celebrating with you soon too... Honestly, as long as you're okay and your man is on board, it's fine. The parents will come around eventually. You matter most right now, and if you were hoping for this pregnancy, then I am too.

I know how it feels. I thought I was pregnant myself (though I wanted it sooner, just not within the next year), and now I regret it. My partner was a little disappointed, so we agreed to try for a baby later, but now everything is up in the air and I don't know how I'll make it until 20. It's not even about the kids, really, it's more about ๐Ÿ™‚ , hehehehehhee... ๐Ÿ˜‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ˜‚
I told him last night that my hormones are still all over the place, and he just gave me this mischievous grin and said: "Well, we'll have a baby the first chance I get. We aren't jumping straight into three at once," ๐Ÿคฃ ๐Ÿ˜.
Immediately felt a weight lift off my chest, ๐Ÿ˜‚

And don't stress about the money right now. Money always finds a way... especially for women in your situation, and if your parents are decent people, they won't turn you away regardless of their bank account. Sure, they might be frantic and angry for fifteen days, but by the sixteenth, Mom will be heading out shopping with you... ๐Ÿ˜˜

Anyway, it sucks having no one to talk to. Coffee with a friend soon?
Ugh, you've got us. Feel free to vent and complain as much as you want...

P.S.: Any symptoms yet? When was your last period??? Let's do some math... ๐Ÿ˜˜

P.P.S.: Ugh, just trying to aim these emojis... Uh... ๐Ÿ˜‚

Elizabeth, huge congratulations! ๐Ÿ™‚
I honestly love this subforum... itโ€™s like one person leaves and three more show up right away ๐Ÿ˜
It's just coolโ€”Jeffrey Cook55 actually went through the exact same thing and everything worked out perfectly in the end.
If the test says positive, then that's that. You're pregnant, the baby is growing exactly as it should, so just try to relax.
If you really want to be super prepared before sharing the news with anyone, maybe hang tight for another ten days or so.

Elizabeth, look, if you ever need to vent, please reach outโ€”either here on the forum or via private message. Youโ€™ve probably already read my story here or in the unplanned pregnancy section. I know exactly how it feels when it seems like your entire world is collapsing, even while you're simultaneously feeling this overwhelming joy and having no idea how to process it. Things are looking up for me now, and I'm certainly not giving up. I see you're 23โ€”I'm 25 and still grinding through one last stupid exam, so I totally get it. But everything works out eventually; it might happen fast or slow, but it happens when it's meant to. Seriously, if you want to chat, I'm here. Even if you're just around Chicago or the surrounding areas, we could grab a coffee if that helps lighten the load. Just a little "pregnant student" support group ๐Ÿ˜

Hey ladies, as you all saw from my previous post, I've had a positive test.

Iโ€™m headed in for my very first OB-GYN appointment tomorrow. What should I expect? Is it even possible for them to confirm everything at this first visit, especially since I'll be starting my sixth week tomorrow?
Iโ€™m feeling a little jittery about the whole thingโ€”I really don't want to deal with some situation where I have to wait another two weeks just for a doctor to actually tell me it's official. How does this process usually work? Is the home test I took enough to get the ball rolling, or am I going to need a mountain of evidence before they believe me? I'd love to hear how it went for all of you.

I'm a little jittery because I really don't want to have to wait another two weeks just for a doctor to tell me it's official. How does this whole process work? Is the home test enough, or am I going to need a million pieces of evidence? How was it for you all?

In my case, at 5 weeks, they could see the gestational sac, but no embryo yet, and my uterus was already enlarged.
If you're entering your 6th week, they should definitely be able to tell youโ€”basically confirmโ€”that you're pregnant.
You don't need any extra proof; just telling them the test was positive is plenty. ๐Ÿ˜˜

They'll do a vaginal exam and an ultrasound, and if necessary, they might send you to the lab for blood and urine tests. They'll also likely refer you to Mayo Clinic to get your blood type, Rh factor, and hepatitis markers checked.
They'll walk you through everything, so don't worry.

Everything will be laid out for you clearly, so try not to worry too much.

Thanks, Benjamin Nelson8! I just really hope they can confirm everything tomorrow so I'm not left hanging in limbo. I'm dying to share the news with everyone, but I haven't told a soul besides my absolute best friend. Now, I'm just sitting here waiting on those official results!!

I was digging around looking for some vitamin info, but I stumbled onto this insteadโ€”honestly, it looks like a lifesaver for anyone currently navigating the confusion of pregnancy or just prepping for it.

I told my family right away after telling my doctor, but the girls over here found out first because the doctor was travelingโ€”and that kind of news isn't something you just relay over a quick phone call.๐Ÿ˜

If I hadn't heard it straight from the source, I would've lost my mind...๐Ÿคฃ ๐Ÿคฃ ๐Ÿคฃ

Then the parents went and spread it to everyone else, some people even knew before their 8-week checkup.
We didn't buy the stroller until I was 10 weeks along.๐Ÿ˜ฌ
I refuse to dwell on the negative outcomes; I keep telling myself I'm going to have a healthy, happy baby, and that honestly helps a lot... because you hear all kinds of horror stories out there... and I worry about everything.

Nah, those are just symptoms for people in their first trimester. What actually counts as normal versus whatโ€™s a red flag?

Once you hit the six-week mark, they can actually confirm the pregnancy for sure.
You don't need any more proof... just tell them the test came back positive. ๐Ÿ˜˜

They saw my sac too, so now I'm just counting down the days until Sunday to make sure everything's fine. Two tests were positive.
I guess I'm officially part of this group of "dear" expectant mothers now...

Hey ladies, so I went to pick up my results today after heading over to the Schwarz lab yesterday for one last pregnancy testโ€”and itโ€™s POSITIVE!!! My partner already let all his friends know, and we told his family yesterday too, which was such a relief... they were incredibly supportive. On my end, I've only told one close friend so far, and we're planning to tell my parents this weekend since they don't live here in the city. Honestly, I am just dying to tell everyone, but telling my own family is actually whatโ€™s making me most nervous... I know deep down it shouldn't really matter how they react, especially since we aren't financially dependent on them or anything like that, but you know how it isโ€”it would just be so much easier if I knew they'd be happy about it from the start.

P.S.: Are you noticing any symptoms yet? When was your last period??? Just trying to run some numbers here...๐Ÿ˜˜

Iโ€™m honestly not even sure what qualifies as a "normal" symptom at this stageโ€”it's all so subjective, isn't it? People say it feels pretty much like the lead-up to a period. For me, I get this really nagging ache in my lower backโ€”right in that low spotโ€”which is exactly how it feels right before my cycle starts... My last period was on October 7th.
