I might as well weigh in on the peach cookies. I absolutely love them—we always make them from scratch at home for Christmas and Easter. Honestly, I think the whole thing comes down to who is baking them and how they go about it. When you order large batches of pastries, they tend to just stuff the peaches with leftovers from other desserts, toss in some chocolate, rum, and jam, and call it a day. But my peach cookies? They’re on an entirely different level... truly finger-licking good.

What was I getting at here—well, if you like them, more power to you!!
Personally, I don't have any specific cravings when it comes to desserts—just let us have a little bit of everything so there's something for everyone.

It's honestly a pointless debate. You're basically arguing against a couple's right to design their own wedding however they see fit. Maybe you're someone who prefers following the crowd, but not everyone works like that. Some people prefer the "I did it my way" approach.👍

I do not follow the crowd, which is why I didn't have a traditional wedding. However, when I host guests, I make an effort to please them. If I don't, I simply don't host them. For my child's birthday, I bake treats that I believe children and guests will enjoy most so there is something for everyone. Thank God, I always make more than enough. Once my little one is old enough to request a specific dessert, I will make that for them and provide the others that the guests prefer.
As for weddings, I believe people serve petit fours because of their aesthetic and the symbolism of the two pieces being joined together. If I were planning a wedding, I would include them for that reason, even though I am not their biggest fan due to the crystal sugar.

Zachary Gray35, why are you calling for moderator intervention? This topic isn't particularly relevant to me either since I am not planning a wedding. You have already had yours, so please allow others to contribute what they wish. Perhaps Joseph Watson10 would like to share her thoughts, as this discussion is beneficial for her.
If you find this subject uninteresting, it would be best to move on to one of the many other threads available. Why remain focused here? Unless you are planning another ceremony, perhaps your focus should be on spending time with your husband. It is a pity you missed having peaches at your wedding, as they are such a lovely symbol of unity. Instead of lingering here, remember that your own celebration has passed. I am participating because I am currently learning how to bake so I can discover which recipes people enjoy and what I might serve my own guests.
I shall depart just as you should.
Greetings to everyone. I hope you all enjoy baking delicious treats.

Zachary Gray35 said:Joseph Watson10, will it make you feel better if I tell you my husband and I decided we don't want to subject anyone—especially our guests—to anything as mediocre as those peaches? We want to serve them something actually gourmet and high-end. And honestly, looking at my guest list—who are my friends and family—I don't think anyone even likes peaches (except my mom, but I made up for it by buying her a whole crate from Whole Foods). So, I don't see how my "selfishness" is actually shortchanging anyone... and can we please drop the peach drama and the constant trolling now? Every time you show up here, it's just pure provocation. Just leave us alone with our food talk. We have way more important things to discuss here than Dancing with the Stars... if you don't have anything intelligent or constructive to add to the conversation, just give it a rest. You're just riiling up the hysterics who don't know what they want, and us newlyweds who are clearly just thinking about peaches and being selfish all day.

Mods, can we get some order around here? If you think it's necessary, just delete this because it’s going absolutely nowhere... every single troll post just triggers a massive pile of pointless explanations and derails the entire thread. All because of some peaches and the fact that my husband doesn't like them, which apparently makes us "selfish."

Is it really "provocation" just because not everyone shares your perspective? Are you actually begging the moderators to step in and save you? Good grief!
What was I trying to get at, hmm? It’s become quite obvious to me now that you only value guest users if they can help fill your coffers with donations. 😁

Honestly, guys, this is getting ridiculous... we've moved past just arguing and now people are actually being insulting. Joseph Watson10 and boldbison26 keep insisting that everything has to go their way, basically forcing their own ideas on everyone else while completely dismissing ours as stupid... well, if you ask me, your ideas seem pretty foolish to us too...
At the end of the day, I guess everyone should just have the kind of cake they want, even if that means there’s only one single type served at the whole wedding...

Joseph Watson10 .... I think you went a bit overboard there

And honestly, any further comments are just a waste of breath .... I'm done saying another word about this...

Look, I see you two have latched onto this thread just to stir the pot... This isn't a place for provocations; it’s for people actually trying to help. Honestly, I’m calling on the mods to wipe this off-topic nonsense. Arguing over whether I’m being selfish or not doesn't help anyone—especially not the women who are counting down the days until their own big day, just like I was doing for months on this forum. Plenty of ladies here who are already married and settled found real value in sharing their experiences. So, I’m done engaging with your comments and your bait. To everyone else planning weddings or those who’ve already said they’re looking for advice: let's keep it fair to the topic and everyone reading it. If you two feel the need to insult people, that’s on you. If you can't find anything useful to say about the actual topic and feel the need to attack instead, go ahead. I don't give a damn about superficial judgments from people like you. And frankly, why wouldn't I reach out to the moderators? It seems a lot more decent than starting a thread just to be rude to people trying to get married. That’s my final word on your little drama.
Anyway, boldbison26, if you want to learn how to bake properly, maybe try a culinary school... this isn't a cookbook, we're here to swap advice, not recipes.

Accusations of thread hijacking? Honestly, how can you even say that without feeling a bit embarrassed?
It seems like a moderator isn't even necessary when you're around. You basically dictate who gets to join this space, what they’re allowed to write, who they can agree with, and who they can't—and then, as the icing on the cake, you scatter people off to other subforums. 🙄

I really don't know whether I should laugh or cry.

I originally came here for information regarding which cookies are best for weddings or parties, and what flavors people prefer so I know what to test. I regularly read and learn in the gastronomy section.
Given how others behave, I will not be returning to disrupt anything here. I can certainly spend my time more wisely.

Hey, quick question. I just spotted this gorgeous little cookie tin online—super cute and actually affordable. I'm wondering if dimensions of roughly 5x3.5x4 inches are big enough for cookies? Like, how many homemade treats can you actually fit in there? Are you guys better off sending soft cookies or something more crunchy? Thanks!

Arthur Turner17 .. I can't really help you there. Even though I used to have those little pastry boxes and ordered them myself, I never actually ended up using them. I wasn't exactly baking cookies to serve to guests at my place.

I mean, yeah, I think so.
I'm probably going to grab one that's closer to 5.5x5.5x3 inches myself, which is about the same ballpark.
Personally, I figure I could probably squeeze about half a pound of cookies in a box like that.

At least 20 ounces, though 30-40 is probably the sweet spot... 20 feels way too light to me. I think those dimensions were meant for a certain weight, but the exact math escapes me right now...
As for the containers, you can basically toss whatever you want in there. Just layer them—throw the dry stuff at the bottom and then top it off with the creamy layers.

Has anyone here actually heard of Sweet Gift? I’m wondering if anyone has tried their pastries lately. What’s the general consensus? And how are their prices? I've heard rumors they might be incredibly cheap, though I suppose you get what you pay for. 😬

So, some buddies of mine grabbed some of their treats before, and honestly, they were awesome. Back when they picked them up, the price was sitting at $15/lb.
I think I'm definitely gonna go with them, or maybe just grab some from a bakery in Chicago.

I’m all about Mest, honestly, but man, their prices are just insane—it’s basically a luxury treat you grab by the pound when you're chilling at home watching movies, since they charge like $100 and $37/lb. Still, they definitely make the best cookies I've ever had (a buddy of mine actually had one of their cakes at his wedding and it was freaking legendary).
I'm low-key debating whether I should even bother sharing sweets with people after the party... assuming they don't get something else instead. Is that even a thing people do?

I honestly can’t even remember the last time we walked away from a wedding with a mountain of dessert—pretty sure it was like ten years ago when it was actually standard to get treats, or even leftovers from the buffet if people were hosting at local VFW halls instead of fancy hotels or catering spots😁. Back then, everything was homemade, so there was always way too much stuff. If I recall correctly, the last time this actually happened was five years ago, and we even had seconds the next day because the amount was just ridiculous. Nowadays? Not really a thing anymore.😠
