Michelle Flores said:I’m all about Mest, honestly, but man, their prices are just insane—it’s basically a luxury treat you grab by the pound when you're chilling at home watching movies, since they charge like $100 and $37/lb. Still, they definitely make the best cookies I've ever had (a buddy of mine actually had one of their cakes at his wedding and it was freaking legendary).
I'm low-key debating whether I should even bother sharing sweets with people after the party... assuming they don't get something else instead. Is that even a thing people do?

Man, Meli was my first choice because I've been buying from them for years just for the house. Their stuff is incredible—that strawberry cheese torso thing... man, my mouth is watering just thinking about it. But they're pricey. I'll pick up a pound here and there for the house or a few slices of cake, but when I did the math on 40lbs X $100, it just didn't make sense. Still, they're damn good.

My recommendation? Emma’s Bakery in Smalltown, USA.
I placed a deposit with them a few days ago after touring about ten different bakeries, and this one definitely blew me away. The lady there packed up about 20 different kinds of bite-sized pastries for us to sample at home, along with a slice of cake. And I can tell you this: even though I usually argue against serving those little finger foods at weddings, I’m actually starting to second-guess my stance...
The pastries truly taste homemade, and unlike the mass-produced stuff you often find, none of them taste exactly the same. The whole shop smells like heaven. As for the cakes, I don't even need to go into detail; we actually went back the very next day for more 😬
. The price for the assorted pastries is $23, and a cake large enough for 60 people runs about $167.

I actually tried their pastries for the first time the other day and they’re legit. But about that price point... yeah, it hits hard for me right now because—get this—my mom told me today she’s planning on ordering 100kg of dessert.😲 😲 😲 😲 Don't even ask... I think it’s a bit 😵 overkill, but sweets are her absolute priority when it comes to weddings, so I get where she's coming from (plus, they got roasted at my sister's wedding, so now she’s acting paranoid😬). Anyway, we have to feed over 300 people—you can't have the dessert spread looking pathetic... so yeah, that's the situation.😁

👋 I am pleased to hear you enjoyed the pastries. We had their cakes and a wedding cake at our own reception, and we were thoroughly satisfied. As for Aunt Snow, she is truly one of a kind.

Man, 100kg... alright, fine, for 300 people... personally, I dig them because they're a bit unique... and they look amazing... plus those Raffaello balls and the chocolate truffles are insanely good... some varieties even go up to $35... maybe you should check out the ones from that bakery near Springfield... the girls say they're great and honestly, they seem cheaper than a cheap dog food brand... I think there was a thread about them before that whole peach pastry debate🤣

Ashley Adams4, I haven't quite managed to break the news to my family yet—specifically the part where we're opting for fewer treats because there simply isn't any packaging for homemade goods 😁. I am quite certain my folks have some massive, stubborn ideas swirling around in their heads regarding this matter 😉.
Where exactly is Emma located in that small town in the US? Is there a recognizable landmark or perhaps a well-known shop nearby that she could use to get her bearings? I find myself thinking that I really 🙂 must try
those sweets for myself eventually.

Mine thought about skipping the treats too, but seeing how hard it is for her to let go, here we are... so for the thank-you gifts, I'll just scramble something together, whatever... honestly, I'm lost on what to do with these gifts—maybe a few photos, some small little things, maybe some booze (I think that's the best move, considering how much my partner and I love a good party with plenty of drinks😬)).
But everyone is getting cookies... oh, and this weekend my mom is getting treats from the local bakery in that Small town in the US (Zachary Gray35 recommended them), so I'll let you know if she likes them and if we should start ordering from there😉.

Must try!
I believe the address is 7th Street or maybe 17, the street runs perpendicular to the old highway leading out of town!

Just wanted to give you guys a quick little update on the cookie prices. I gave the Sweet gift shop over in that small town in the US a call today, and they said wedding cookies are going to be $17/kg. The lady there mentioned we can just swing by whenever we want to grab some samples. So, my plan is to head out there soon to pick up a few things for a taste test, and I'll let everyone know how they turn out as soon as I've had a chance to try them. In the meantime, if anyone else happens to try them before I do, please let me know!

northernhawk87, I was passing through a small town in the US the other day and noticed that Emma is in those new buildings right by the tracks, positioned vertically to the railroad. I haven't had the chance to go check it out yet, but I fully intend to head over there in the next few days. When you visit, I'll take you there so we can test it out together; I don't mind trying 🙂 🤣

Ashley Adams4, that sounds wonderful, please do let me know!! We actually ended up ordering a cake from them recently!! And once Easter rolls around, I think we'll head over there to pick up a few samples just to test the waters... though, to be honest, I trust every single word 😍
Zachary Gray35
says. Donna Gray33, thank you 😘. Just make sure to keep track of which day works best around Easter 🙂

Look, northernhawk87, just take it for a test run yourself... maybe they just got lucky with my wedding and ended up looking good.😍 I thought they were killer, but let's be real—with like 100 different flavors, there's no way everyone's going to vibe with them.
So, I'll probably be picking up a few pounds of this stuff for my birthday this week, so you can come over for a tasting if you want... or I'll just send you a photo. Hopefully, I don't forget.

Honestly, everything you’re describing sounds absolutely mouthwatering to me 😬 And I have to admit, while we were busy hashing out all the details about the different layers, my mouth was already watering along with my partner's... 🤣 So, I really have my doubts that this will turn out to be anything less than spectacular. You 😉must try
sending over a photo when you can.

I’m probably just gonna grab 5 kg. She always arranges them so perfectly in the box, they honestly look great...

So, what are the layers actually made of? Everyone keeps talking about some banana filling in the top layer, but I haven't a clue...
Did she suggest it, or did you tell her which flavors you were looking for?

Let me tell you...

We went ahead and asked her what all the options were, and we even mentioned a few things we might want... she told us that since the cake is going to be quite large, the bottom two layers absolutely have to be sturdy enough to hold everything up... after that, honestly, anything goes.
The very bottom layer will be a chocolate cake.
Then there’s a walnut cake (I just know my folks from the Midwest are going to go wild for that one! 😉).
After that, we're looking at a chocolate and banana combo—which was her suggestion, and I have to say, I am absolutely obsessed with that flavor profile!
Then comes a Black Forest cake (that's the one my husband ordered)
And finally, the very top will be some kind of fruit cake.

If I had my way, I’d just order a sample of something like that to test it out first.🙂

Man, everyone says that banana chocolate is supposed to be gourmet... I had some back in my hometown too...

I have such a profound fondness for that specific style... I can still vividly recall my mother preparing those classic "cat's eye" treats back in the day; just thinking about that flavor profile brings it all back for me. As far as my own preferences go, I honestly think the entire thing could be presented in that exact manner. 😬

Honestly, I haven't the slightest clue what "cat eyes" even are...😢
