I’d say 10 is plenty if those tables are larger—ours are smaller, so we're probably looking at 6 to 8 people per table.

And nobody even mentioned the cake photo I posted yesterday 😢 just left me hanging on whether anyone actually liked it or not...

Found this on some French site... turns out I really dig French photography—it's much more my style than anything from England or the States.😁

The cake is absolutely killer, but for a dining setup—I wouldn't go over 8 people.

I feel the same way...
Honestly, that’s probably the only beautiful being cake on those stands that I actually like.

As for the tables, they offer two sizes.
Small ones or large ones... you can fit 4 to 6 at the small ones, and 8 to 12 at the big ones.
Usually, everyone just shoves 9 or 10 people at them.
But the banquet manager’s honest recommendation? It’s most comfortable when you stick to 8.
That’s what I wanted to do... but as the guest list kept growing 😠

And the penalty for not following the rules strictly? This wedding would have 100% turned into one of those disasters where the bride and groom just show up and everyone else has to figure out the whole mess.

Sorry Frank, I know this is mostly just me venting. 😢

Don't the French just nail those pastries? 🤣
That's honestly the only cake on those stands I actually like. Usually, I'm more about the classic tiered stuff. Once I finally get some downtime to dig through some French photographers' portfolios, maybe I'll stumble onto something else... beautiful being cake... and tasty. 😁

That is a beautiful being cake, really chic too.
My friends and I usually order all our birthday cakes from a local bakery called The Cookie Cottage. They make those big square ones where you can do half fruit and half chocolate, or whatever you want. We've always been pretty happy with them so far.

What about the prices?
I called them about some pastries, and if I remember right, they quoted me around $33/lb (roughly—I can't recall the exact number, just that it was way higher than our budget).

Has anyone actually tried the treats over at Corner Bakery?

I’ll just take one chocolate cake for myself, and let Mom and my husband fight over the other two because honestly, I can't deal with stacking three cakes on top of each other. Mom keeps trying to push this tiered stand on me that supposedly holds five cakes and has these little swans on it—she swears it looks gorgeous, but I don't know, it just doesn't really sound like my vibe 😂

We went to a tasting yesterday, and honestly, those desserts were absolutely incredible because every single one had such a distinct, unique flavor profile instead of just being the same repetitive stuff I’ve seen at so many weddings... we ended up ordering our sweets ( $17 /kg) along with a cake priced at $83. We are beyond thrilled with everything! And just so you know, the owner even gives out a certificate 🙂

That's an awesome deal for the treats; from what I hear, you can't find anything cheaper than $23/kg in New York City.

I actually got a recommendation from another lady on this forum who ordered these exact same treats from her, so we went out to try them and they are honestly such incredible pastries (she lives over in Saint Helena) and she even offers delivery, so just like I mentioned before, if anyone wants the details I can definitely pass along her number.

Honestly, if you head just a bit outside the city, you can find much more reasonable prices. I know a couple of people who found some for about $18/lb out in Kansas City.

Send it my way. I’ve got a niece living out there—we end up down in that area pretty often.
Is delivery free?

By the way, does she happen to have a website or an online shop? If not, would you mind terribly sending me her contact info—you know, her name, phone number, and her exact location?🙂

Down here in San Francisco, we're seeing pastries for just 35-$13/lb!!!!!!

Is flour actually more expensive in Washington, D.C.?

I haven't really chimed in on this thread before, but honestly, seeing how much you guys are dropping on cakes makes me feel a little sick... mine cost about $27/lb 🤦. I mean, sure, they’re probably the most perfectly decorated treats I’ve ever seen, but flavor-wise? They're just okay. Nothing spectacular. Plus, it's just some lady baking from her home kitchen—not even a real business or anything—so charging 😠 is wild. And she’s being such a headache about the cake itself; she calls me every three days with some stupid suggestion, even though I made it crystal clear that I want this kind of cake, just with flowers instead of a bride and groom. She’s gonna drive me crazy 🤦. And of course, because she says she doesn't have the right pan or whatever, it’ll end up being round 😬 haha, and yeah, extra frosting, or whatever 😢
