Dennis Allen10 said:Has anyone actually tried the desserts from Mak na Konac? I haven't pulled the trigger yet, but honestly, looking at those photos... they look absolutely insane. Since we don't have a massive population here, I really wish we could get more of those super creamy cakes and dessert shooters. I'm tired of everything tasting like standard wedding catering—even though, full disclosure, I'm a sucker for those tiny little bite-sized wedding treats myself.

We actually went with exactly what you described from Amelia.
We've got the creamy cakes, the little dessert shooters, lollipops... plus the classics like brownies and cookies for variety.
Everything is going to look super modern and fun—really vibrant colors too.
On top of the main wedding cake, we ordered two smaller ones, and I honestly think the whole spread is going to be the highlight of the night.🙂
The owner of the bakery is fantastic—super easy to talk to, down-to-earth, and totally open to suggestions or tweaks if we need them.

Thanks! I'm definitely keeping Amelia on my radar then.

Dennis Allen10 said:Thanks for the heads-up 😉 I’m going to send over an inquiry; I’ve gotta know just how much these little masterpieces are going to set me back...

They sell those cookies by the piece. I reached out to ask about pricing, but once they replied, we didn't even bother showing up.

In the end, we just went with Amelia instead. 😁

Amelia, could you give me a ballpark figure on what those cures might run me if I sent you a private message? 🙂

What’s the damage at Amelia’s? Just looking for a ballpark figure on what they charge for cakes and pastries. Any rough estimates?

So, listen, my partner and I finally tied the knot this past Saturday. We decided to go with a cake from Amelia, and let me tell you—it was an absolute knockout. Everyone was raving about it. (The rest of the dessert spread was handled by the pub where we held the reception.)

For a crowd of 70 people, $0.47.

It was a hazelnut creation, featuring nuts ground down to three different textures—coarse, medium, and fine—which made the flavor just divine. Plus, the owner and I managed to hammer out all the details incredibly quickly; she’s a lovely woman.

I am dead certain I'll be heading back there just for another slice of that cake. Look, I'm not exactly someone who goes overboard on sweets, but this one? It hit the spot perfectly. Even my guests were completely blown away.

If you’re looking for absolutely killer cookies over in Cleveland, specifically around the Upper Dry Creek area, you have to hit up the lady from ExxonMobil. Her cookies are perfection. I did hear they bumped the price from $27/kg up to 100.00/kg since last year, but honestly, I totally get why :-)
Last year she baked like 50 kg just for me... and then some other neighbor did another 50 kg. Man, these old-school American traditions are wild...

So $6.75 per slice? That’s pretty steep

Hit up the State Fair again today, decided to sample some M&M and Vincek... The lady over at the M&M booth was actually pretty sweet, and that fruit parfait was easily the highlight—tried one orange and one strawberry... though honestly, the Chocolatey one was kind of a letdown, left this weird margarine aftertaste because they definitely went way too heavy on the cream.

As for Vincek, those raspberry desserts in the little cups were top-tier... The nougat cake was just way too sugary for my taste, and the cheesecake had this bizarre crust that felt totally soggy... We didn't grab any this time, but last year we noticed Vincek uses a biscuit base for their iced wind treats instead of actual meringue!

We were thinking about checking out Sugarland, but man, those prices alone were enough to make us walk right past... Plus, the selection was pretty mid, seeing as there were only three types of cake left and the staff seemed to have zero clue how to actually sell anything or even get people interested... so yeah, pass.

Heading over to a spot in a nearby suburb now,
King Bakery. I’ve got a feeling they’ll end up being our final pick, especially if they live up to what we saw and tasted back at the Wedding Expo...

Honestly, that Kašnar frozen treat was easily the best thing I’ve had all summer—nothing else comes close.

Oh my god, you guys... I just got the news that King Bakery in Zelina is doing a total overhaul for the entire month of August. Which basically means my favorite little sweet spot is totally out of commission!

Seriously, someone help me out here... they had the best prices around, like, $10 $4.00 a pop.
Does anyone know a place that won't absolutely rob me blind, but actually makes cakes that taste like actual food instead of cardboard? 🙂

We ended up getting our wedding cake from Sweet Den in the suburbs. Even though our menu at Pyrus (everything by Kašnar) already included a cake, once we tried theirs at Seka’s wedding, it was THE one. I don't think I've ever had anything so light and airy, almost like ice cream. Most wedding cakes are just bland because they use too much margarine or that heavy fondant... but this was seriously incredible. You should really go there and try their treats, or just the flavors. Seka had three options (dark truffle, a fruit mix, and some lighter chocolate), but since everything tasted so amazing, we had to pick four—so we went with the vanilla cheesecake too. 😍 We couldn't really afford a fifth flavor, though. They even included gluten-free treats for my maid of honor in the price. For 150 people— $650... that's $4.25/each. Please, just go and try them... 😁

Man, they're moving too, so who cares about that...🤷 though apparently they still do pastries.... I have no clue, so I just shot them an email to see what the deal is...

Oh, look, I am glad you mentioned that because we still need to go meet them for our final wedding cake consultation. They wrote to you saying to just order three days ahead, and they will put together a dessert platter for the tasting and tell you when to come by. My advice: maybe don't eat right before you head over there. 😂

A friend of mine who works in design was looking for something truly unique—nothing too traditional or "old-fashioned" when it comes to sweets—so she decided to pick up some treats from Godiva, whose shop is right on Radicev Street.

They have these absolutely gorgeous branded boxes, and they distributed them so perfectly that every single guest felt included! :-) After that, we were all set to move on with the festivities:-)

We actually grabbed the cake from a little bakery owned by Martin over on Scitarjev Street, and let me tell you, it is incredible... I tried some samples myself—the lemon and chocolate parfait flavors were just out of this world!

$3.25 dreaming...

But now I’m dealing with a whole different headache. Basically, I want to pack up some leftovers—either cake slices or just random sweets—to give to a specific group of people, like our immediate family when they head home... but how do I even pull that off? Since the wedding is at a banquet hall, should I just stash some containers in the fridge and tell the servers that if anyone comes looking for them, I was the one who sent them?

What happens if someone spots them and then starts complaining later, like, "Hey, they got treats and we didn't!"
Oh my god !! I usually swear by the rule of "everyone gets some or nobody gets anything"... but... but...

Anyone have any bright ideas?😉

We had some treats from Abraham Lincoln and a cake from sweet secret. I couldn't really eat anything that evening, though I suppose I was happy there was a little bit left over for me to try once everyone started raving about them the next day. They were honestly brilliant. I didn't go for many of the traditional pastries, opting more for the mini bites, tartlets, and chocolate-covered fruit, but they had plenty of variety. I'm just glad I didn't give up on them after seeing all those negative comments on the forum. The cake from sweet secret was lovely, and our portion was delicious, though I can't say much for the others since there were four different kinds available.

I commend everyone!
The Kašnar cakes were absolutely fantastic. I have to admit, my own baking is probably the best 🤣, but after that, it's my mother-in-law's, and then Kašnar's. We bought them for both the party and at home, and honestly, I haven't eaten anything better or prettier (that wasn't from 😁).
If anyone wants delicious treats (without that heavy margarine taste or piles of sugar) that are also very affordable, they should definitely try Kašnar's.

The Sweet Secret four-flavor cake—dark truffle, chocolate paw, cheesecake with raspberry, and fruit mousse—gets five stars from me. They made the cake exactly how we wanted it (just like the photo). The flavors were exquisite. We chose this bakery because they make incredibly light, almost ice-cream-like cakes and pastries. The price was great. Truly impressive! 😍

Has anyone here actually ordered wedding cakes or fancy desserts from Torte and Co.?

They’ve got this insane selection, but honestly, I don't even care if it qualifies as a "formal" wedding cake or just high-end dessert. 😁

I noticed Kašnar has been bragging a ton in the last few posts, but nobody is mentioning the actual price! That's huge info for any bride-to-be trying to plan. 🙂

Looking back through a few pages, I saw some praise for Mouse Bakery over near Columbus... is that the same place? 🤔

My guess is the price per pound is roughly $33/lb, and I'd probably budget for about 8 ounces per person.
Correct me if I'm wrong, or please just drop some recommendations. 😁

Future bride here, currently in the "roughly-estimating-my-budget" phase. 😁

Thanks in advance. 🙂

Every single cake from the local bakery 🙂
I can't quite put my finger on what happened to wedding cakes, but the concept itself is brilliant. My only concern is the price tag 😁

And for the record, that mouse is over in River City near Columbus.
