The wedding is on June 27th—we have almost everything sorted, but I am struggling with a massive decision regarding the desserts.
It’s being held in Savannah, and my mother-in-law is handling all the cookies for the tables since she does this professionally 😉
Now... since the cake selection here in Kansas City isn't great, I’ve been planning to order the wedding cake from Washington, D.C.
However... given how everything has come together—the dress, the suit, and the whole fairy-tale vibe at our outdoor venue—I've suddenly become obsessed with the idea of having a dessert station 🤦😵Just something off to the side. I think it would fit the theme perfectly without feeling overdone... maybe some lanterns, little candles, colorful candies, muffins, and mini mousse cups (okay, maybe I'm overthinking it 🤦).
Does anyone know a bakery in Washington, D.C. that does high-quality catering and beautiful displays?
Mack was my top choice, but they charge per piece, so it might be too much for my budget.
Amelia? Slatka priča?

On my wedding tasting days (well, my fiancé tasted them because I'm on a diet 🎉), I tried treats from King Bakery in Napa. They seemed like a solid option since they aren't too far from Kansas City, but I haven't actually seen their stuff at a wedding before. 🍿

The problem is, I am incredibly picky about sweets. I don't want to make a mistake, even though the dessert station is just an extra touch. I'm not even sure how much I should order since we already have the cookies...
A bride gone wild. 🤔🤔

I need to settle this quickly and would truly appreciate your expertise.

Slastice andric does dessert stations; a friend of mine had one, and they are located somewhere near San Jose!

I used King Bakery for my dessert table. If you want, I can DM you some photos. We had their cake too, and everyone loved both. I even used them again for the baby's cake later on. They're great, honestly.

Please do send those photos. I'm also curious about the approximate pricing if you remember. 👍 I was actually planning to stop by there sometime this week!

I was wondering about the typical price range for a cake like this one. I’ve been scrolling through this thread for a bit, but I’m feeling a little lost 😛
I’ve already got the cookies sorted out, but I’m thinking about ordering a cake similar to this—maybe even a four-tier one—so could anyone give me a ballpark idea of what I should expect to pay?
So, we're talking square, fondant, and four tiers high? 😉

If my memory serves me correctly, I was told that for three tiers with fondant, it would be around $400 (including a filling of about 800-900) at Grandma's place in Savannah.

Isn't that a bit much? I got a quote from Catering Lido 15 for $5.00 per person including mascarpone filling, and their pastries and cakes are actually top-tier. With whipped cream, it's $4.00.
The price is 10-$5.00 per person + $0.83 for the mascarpone.

It’s entirely possible, likely because Opatija Confectionery is...
While I’ll concede they produce fine sweets, yes. 🙂

Take this one here, decorated with those currants. Personally, if I were selecting a cake, I’d opt for something far more straightforward without all that unnecessary fussing over the presentation—not simply to save a few bucks (though that $6.75 be a factor), but because nobody actually eats the garnish, and quite frankly, you want the actual cake to be the star of the show.

Now this looks genuinely delicious. 🙂

Thanks, 👍 That gives me a much better ballpark figure to work with! 🙂

I’m totally lost on which cake to grab—maybe a Black Forest, something chocolatey like Ferrero Rocher, or a light cheesecake... I can't decide if we should mix it up or just stick to one flavor.

What was your logic when you were picking? Personally, I have a massive sweet tooth so I'm not picky, but I'm leaning towards something light... 🤔

As a guest, I want to taste everything, and I'll be seriously bummed ( 🤣 🕺) if I don't get a bit of everything... maybe sticking to one type is the move?

Hey, quick question—do you guys just offer one type of cake, or do you have both wedding cakes and regular ones available?

First and foremost, you should have a direct conversation with the person who is actually baking your cake.
I am planning on having a multi-tiered cake, and I was told that they won't allow fillings like Ice Wind or Ferrero Rocher because those types of cakes are simply too unstable for this setup.
Besides, I wouldn't personally choose an Ice Wind cake anyway, as the fruit juices tend to leak out of them.

We could probably use something a bit lighter—maybe an ice cream cake or something chilled. Anyone here actually tried making one?

In my experience, having a selection of Nutella, Black Forest, and a light mousse cake was ideal. It lasted for about eight months, so a light mousse cake is certainly a solid choice...😄

If a pastry chef actually knows what they're doing, you shouldn't have any issues with juices leaking out of the cake. Personally, I think having a wider variety of flavors is always the better way to go.

We’re doing Monte bars, frozen wind, and chocolate parfait. That's what the pastry chef suggested to us, and honestly, I'm pretty sure it's gonna be killer.

thanks ladies!
they'll be stacked up on different floors. since we're expecting a crowd, probably on the 4th floor (don't want it spread too thin). we'll figure it out, thanks for the input 👍
