Me neither. Honestly, though? I'd much rather have something that tastes amazing but looks terrible than the other way around. If things are going to go sideways, I'll take the good flavor over the pretty presentation any day. 🙂

lol okay, now that I think about it, the taste was actually pretty mid too... just super dry with zero creaminess, or maybe I just mashed two different posts together in my brain lol

If you click on this link—I actually just caught a glimpse of the photo she posted—you'll see what I mean.

Oh, okay, I see it now, thanks.

To be honest, I was expecting something way more messed up than this, but yeah, it looks a little sloppy compared to the picture, and there’s less greenery if I'm seeing that right?

Fair enough—it could have been much worse, and I’ll admit it isn't a complete disaster.
But honestly, the end result doesn't change much for me, especially that second section—they really dropped the ball there.
Even if they had nailed that part, it still wouldn't be right; they completely missed the mark on both the color palette and the floral details. 🤷

I get it, really... I lose my mind when someone tells me "it'll be fine" and then hands me a disaster, but this isn't even close to being okay. And don't even get me started on the insult to my intelligence: "Oh, excuse me ma'am, it doesn't look like the photo because of the camera flash..." yeah, okay, sure... as if.

Hey,

Anyone here actually done mousse in glasses instead of traditional wedding cake?
Looking for some feedback or maybe a solid recommendation on who does it best.

thanks

Honestly, I think pretty much everyone who talks about dessert tables has dealt with this—it’s basically the go-to setup these days. If you mention which part of the US you're planning for, maybe someone can actually point you toward a specific caterer or bakery. 🙂

Hey, has anyone actually tried the dessert catering from Lydia? We’re putting down a deposit for Leo today, so I’m wondering if their stuff is worth it or if I should just look elsewhere.
Also, let me know if you’ve used any other places you actually liked and roughly what they charged.
Thanks!

Their treats are solid. I’ve tried them several times—everything from those tiny creamy bites to the little cup desserts that usually taste like nothing. Theirs are actually delicious. My advice? Just go with them. You won't regret it.

Yeah, I thought the same thing, but $3.50 to $4 per person feels a bit steep given the quote we got, idk... how much were you guys paying for the dessert tables, cookies, and cakes?

In my case, the dessert table was bundled into the menu price, and the cake ran about $2 extra per person. If I had ordered it separately, it probably would have been a bit cheaper. But in the end, I just didn't want the headache, so I went through the restaurant (they use Levins for their cakes). I was actually debating whether to go with Levins instead.
I feel the same way regarding the cookies—you can definitely haggle for a better deal. If you consider that a pound of cookies starts around $27 and you factor in a standard serving of about 5 or 6 ounces per person, it works out to be nearly half the price. Even if you pay $33 per pound and grab 6 ounces per guest, you're still saving significantly.

I was actually tempted to try and haggle with Liza to charge me for only 8 ounces per person since I know there's gonna be leftovers—and I really don't feel like chasing people around the hall handing them scraps as they're leaving... though I'm not sure if they'd even go for that kind of thing...

So, did you end up getting one of those fake display cakes or was it a real one?

Don't sweat the leftovers. Nowadays, almost every restaurant in the States will pack up extra food in disposable containers, so it's really not an issue. In our case, they just packed us some dry cookies because everything else apparently vanished. There was even a chocolate fountain involved, so once guests realized it was there, nobody wanted to leave the dessert station.😁
We really should have had a dummy cake, plus two more tucked away in the kitchen to pass out to guests. Toward the end, the restaurant manager actually suggested we could have two extra tiers since we wanted a specific look that their standard display cakes didn't offer. So, we cut those, handed them out, and then used a third one from the kitchen to keep things moving.

As for whether to go with a fake cake or not, I'm honestly torn; I care about how things look so a real one seems better, but then again, I heard a few people complaining that the gap between cutting the cake and actually serving it is way too long, which totally kills the vibe...

They’re just so programmed. By the time you’ve finished your first glass of champagne, they’ve already carved up the whole thing. That’s how it went at our wedding. I was actually talking to my husband about how lightning-fast they were; by the time we finished our toast and made our way back to the table, both types of cake were already sitting there waiting for us on our plates.😁

We picked up some treats from Vera’s place in a small town in the US Midwest! They are absolutely delicious. I can't recommend them enough!

We picked up some pastries from a local bakery back in a small town in the Midwest. They were exceptional. Everyone was talking about them and asking where we got them.
We grabbed an extra batch so we could share later, though it was almost a struggle to gather enough people to split them. 🙂
