That’s exactly why I’m telling you, E*TRADE is basically a total joke compared to what you actually need.

Hey, do you happen to know how the whole registration process works for stocks I picked up through an E*TRADE account involving the Democratic Party (or whatever they're calling the SEC these days)? Like, say I bought some shares—if dividends ever actually show up, does that stuff just hit my account automatically, or am I gonna have to jump through hoops and contact the SEC specifically to make sure I get paid?
thanks 🙂

Greetings,

I received a refund from Amazon, but instead of the amount being credited directly to my monthly Mastercard statement—which is how PayPal typically handles things—the funds were deposited straight into my foreign currency account. What is the most efficient way to transfer this money into my primary checking account? Am I required to visit a Chase branch in person, or can this be handled digitally through an app like Zelle?

Look, if you can actually 'see' that foreign currency account on E*TRADE, then I guess it'll work.. ☕
All you gotta do is just transfer the funds from your foreign currency account over to your checking—it’ll just calculate everything based on the buying exchange rate they give you.

Look, if you grabbed those stocks through E*TRADE via EZAB, they’re already automatically registered with the Democratic Party. That whole registration headache was mostly for people who snagged shares during public offerings for companies like ExxonMobil or T-Mobile and stuff.

If you're still feeling a bit iffy about it, honestly just give SKD a quick ring on the phone and they'll clear it all up for you.

Just follow what Casey Ramirez2 was saying earlier—you can just set up a transfer order. Basically, fill out the payment form, list yourself as the recipient, select your foreign currency account on the left side and your regular US checking account on the right. Just pick the currency you need to swap, put something like "currency exchange" in the memo field, and run the transaction. Once that's done, the cash should show up in your target account pretty much instantly.

it actually works even if you don't specify a 'purpose' 😉

I'm just doing this so I can have my own little paper trail to look back on later.

Does anyone know if it's possible to transfer funds from a Mastercard to a checking account via online banking? I'm trying to handle everything from home instead of making a trip to a physical branch. I just need to move some money over to cover an overdraft on my current account.

It won't work through the app, and honestly, I doubt you'll have any luck walking into a branch either. What you could do is just hit up an ATM with your Mastercard to grab some cash, and then head over to a deposit ATM to slide that money right into your account.

Give the customer service line at 1-800-555-0199 a ring and ask them about the nearest branch location.

I've run into a bit of a headache here

Right now, I'm holding a foreign currency account over at JP Morgan Chase, but I just opened up a new one at Goldman Sachs.
I’m trying to figure out if there's any way to just move funds from my own JP Morgan Chase foreign account directly over to my new one at Goldman Sachs using online banking. Is that even doable without some massive hidden fees eating into the balance? Or am I stuck having to actually show up at a branch in person to request a wire transfer?

I tried messing around with the online banking interface, but the system keeps throwing an error at me, claiming that for foreign currency orders, you can't set a future date. The weird thing is, the system automatically defaults the date to tomorrow and won't let me change it to anything else. It makes absolutely zero sense to me.

PS. Sorry if someone already asked this somewhere else, I just couldn't find a straight answer anywhere.

Man, that error message you're getting is basically useless, right? Here’s the real deal: you can't actually use JP Morgan Chase to wire foreign currency to another bank or some other person. Those foreign currency transfers are strictly limited to within your own accounts at the same bank. So, yeah, you can move money from your foreign account to your local checking account, but that’s pretty much it. For anything else, you’ve gotta convert those funds back into US dollars first by moving them into your standard checking or savings account, and then you can just wire the cash to someone else or move it over to another bank. Foreign currency wires just aren't an option through JP Morgan Chase yet—hopefully they'll roll that out soon, 🤷 but who knows when.

I bet that’ll be possible once they finally let us wire foreign currency to someone else! Right now, JP Morgan Chase has no clue you're just moving funds into your own account at another bank—they just don't see the full picture.

Is anyone else having trouble accessing the JP Morgan Chase portal today? I keep getting constant warnings about security breaches and unsafe connections, and I really need to get in to check something on my account...🙂

Same here, but I clicked through anyway. It’s not like I have billions sitting in my account to be worried about 😬

I don't have much either, but I tend to protect the little I actually have 😬

That’s just a warning that you're heading toward an unsecured site (https🙂). It has nothing to do with the bank. You can keep working just fine...

I was wondering if it might be possible to transfer some funds from my checking account over at JPMorgan Chase directly onto my Hypo debit card—the one I use for my PayPal account—so I can pick up a few things online without having to make a trip down to the bank branch... is it actually doable to just send a payment from my main account to my own account held elsewhere? Please forgive me if this sounds like a rather silly question; I simply haven't come across any information either confirming that it's an option or suggesting that it isn't quite so straightforward...🤷

Oh, you can definitely do that. It just might not show up in your Hypo account right away, I guess.

Hey, this might be a stupid question (not sure if I'm even in the right sub), but here goes:

I got some paperwork from the Mayo Clinic saying I owe an unpaid deductible or something. It gives me a checking account number, but says I need a reference number that's 13 digits long. It doesn't mention a transaction code anywhere.

Every time I try to pay through my banking app, I get an error saying "invalid reference number." I tried guessing different codes like 00 or 99 just to see if it would take it, but nothing works.

From what I can tell on Bank of America, there isn't a code type that uses 13 characters without a check digit, and I'm pretty sure this one doesn't have one since those last five digits look like a confirmation code.

Anyone have any clue how I can actually get this paid?
