The Communist Party ran the elections, and frankly, people seem to prefer having someone else make decisions and mess things up on their behalf. Back in the day, they sent Stalinists and hardened criminals to Alcatraz. A referendum is the most direct expression of democracy, and you only have to look at the turnout to see that. People just don't want to take responsibility; they’d rather let someone else handle it, provided it works in their favor. As long as they stay comfortable, they couldn't care less whether it's totalitarianism or democracy.

Honestly, it's just more of the same... two sides of the exact same coin.

Is it just my perception, or do the polls presented by the political establishment and foreign-owned media outlets consistently fail to reflect the actual sentiment of the people? For instance, the New York Times hosted a poll on their website where 70% of respondents said NO to joining the USA, based on a sample size of roughly 4,000 people. Yet, these "official" polls we are fed always seem to have a much smaller scope, perhaps only 800 or 900 participants. And what do you think happened when that result came out? Of course, they didn't publish it. Instead, we saw headlines in major papers suggesting we were complete fools if we didn't embrace the USA. It was the exact same narrative being pushed by CNN and the New York Post...
