I've got a 500GB HDD I want to split into three parts (60, 280, and 160), but it’s just not working out. 😳
A tech guy suggested I just shrink it by about 200GB, so I did that 🤷 and now I'm stuck with two partitions (300 and 200GB), where the system one is actually the bigger one... and when I try to shrink that down further to 60 and 240 GB, it's basically impossible. 😳 It only lets me shave off another 15GB. 😕😕
How am I supposed to get another partition set up? I'm honestly pretty lost here. 🤷

Maybe try using this free tool?

I've got this 500GB hard drive that I'm trying to split into three separate partitions—specifically 60GB, 280GB, and 160GB. But, naturally, it’s just refusing to work. 😳
My mechanic suggested I shrink my partition by about 200GB, so I went ahead and did it. 🤷 So now I'm stuck with two partitions—one at 300GB and another at 200GB—but the system partition is the bigger one. And when I actually try to shrink it down to 60GB to leave 240GB for the other side, it just won't work. There's basically no way to do it. 😳 It’s only giving me the option to shrink it by another 15GB. 😕😕
How do I run another partition? Honestly, I’m completely lost here. 🤷

I guess I should probably mention the Acronis Disk Director suite. 🙂

just listen to what Joshua Garcia3 is saying—Acronis Disk Director suite works exactly how you'd want it to
you can whip up as many partitions as you feel like, and you call the shots on the sizes 🙂

I’m not even sure if they'll grant him access to the system partition—usually, that kind of thing just doesn't happen 👍

He can definitely resize the system one. I've messed with both the OS drive and secondary ones before. First, he needs to shrink that system partition—probably his C: drive—down to whatever size he actually wants, and then
just shrink the other one and grab whatever space is left over to make a third partition
Honestly, the Acronis Disk Director suite is the gold standard for this stuff. I'm always using it to slice up and resize partitions, and so far, zero headaches

Douglas Garcia52 said:Listen to Joshua Garcia3, Acronis Disk Director suite works however you want it to.
You can make as many partitions as you feel like, and you decide all the sizes. 🙂

Douglas Garcia52 said:It can handle the system partition. I've partitioned both the system drive and others before. He should probably shrink the system partition (likely the C: drive) to the desired size first, and then
shrink the other one and use whatever space is left over to create a third.
Acronis is pretty much the gold standard for this stuff; I use it constantly to split up drives and set partition sizes without any real issues so far.

Like Justin Gray81 mentioned, it does whatever you want and handles the system partition just fine. 🙂

Exactly. I tried messing around with Acronis first and it was a total bust🤷—I gave it three shots, right?—and it acts like everything is working perfectly, but then when I open up my Computer, all I see is the C: drive and... well, that's it. Nothing else. Just dead air.🤷

Might give EaseUS a shot....

EDIT:
EaseUS absolutely crushed it. Job done perfectly.👍
thanks Wise 👍

I guess you weren't doing something right with Acronis, but if this other one worked for you, then fine by me. 🙂

Hey guys, I need some advice on Windows 7. Just finished putting together a new Computer, and I'm trying to figure out which version would be the best fit for stability—strictly for home Use.

Thanks.

Look, everyone’s doing their own thing, so I guess you just have to pick whatever fits your specific needs and what you're actually looking for:

I was following the instructions to a T—just in case I missed some tiny detail in the software itself—but man... it told me everything was fine three different times, yet nothing actually worked. 🤷
But whatever... this second option did the job perfectly. 🙂

Thanks everyone! 👍

Whatever, though... this other guy actually knew what he was doing and got the job done right 🙂

Thanks, everyone 👍

look, if you did it that way and just let Acronis run its course until the end (which can take forever depending on how many features you toggled on), then things should be fine. You just gotta wait for Acronis to finish its thing 👍
but hey, if you managed to pull it off using some other software, then whatever, mission accomplished 👍

once you get used to something actually working reliably, it's gotta live up to that standard, right?😁 👍

Oh, for sure. "This server crashes constantly, and I've been hanging around this forum for a bit, so I know it happens all the time." 😕

Douglas Garcia52@ I guess the issue is they didn't click the little flag icon at the end to let Microsoft finish its thing. 🙂

Anyway, here’s an English guide from this forum:

Anyway, here are some instructions I found on an American forum:

I guess that’s where he messed up too, right? 👍
