But from what I can gather, that seems to apply strictly to portable gear like laptops, tablets, or phones.

Is there anything that actually covers desktop PCs and individual components?

No offense intended, but if you want everything handed to you on a silver platter, maybe try putting a little effort into a quick Google search first...

Technically speaking, just browsing this forum is basically just Googling 🙂

and if I had actually found what I was looking for on my own, I probably wouldn't be bothering anyone here anyway.

Alright, I'm on it. They mentioned they need the serial number, so once I have that in hand, I'll send it over to get everything verified. Apparently, they respond within five minutes. We'll see. Thanks.

I also sent an email to MSANA—I suspect they might be the ones handling this too, but I haven't heard back yet. I guess I'll just wait and see.

Greetings, everyone.

Rather than specifying my exact budget right out of the gate, I would appreciate it if you could guide me on what kind of price range I should expect to invest to secure a high-quality, brand-new graphics card capable of handling today's most demanding AAA titles. I am looking for something straight out of the box, not used hardware.

Furthermore, I would welcome any specific recommendations you might have regarding particular models.

I apologize

GTS 250
Athlon 64 X2 dual Core 3800
4GB DDR 400MHz
Corsair VS550

The issue is that my current graphics card has malfunctioned,
and I might also be able to acquire an i5 2.8GHz processor from a friend.

You need both the motherboard and the case for that one.😬
As for this setup, I wouldn't put anything in there stronger than an R7 250.

I appreciate everyone for getting back to me so quickly.

But what about using an i5 clocked at 2.8GHz combined with a RAM upgrade? Does that change the outlook?

What would be the most budget-friendly CPU and GPU combo capable of running > reliably?

What about using this i5 at 2.8GHz and just upgrading the RAM?

Can I get the cheapest CPU and GPU combo that can actually run Syndicate?

You can make an i5 work, but you'll have to swap out the motherboard and the RAM too. That processor won't fit what you've got right now.

I’m assuming you’re looking at an i5 760—you haven't been able to find new 1156 motherboards in stores for quite some time now. Your best bet is to snag one from a friend or a local shop, otherwise, you'll be hunting through used marketplaces (which can be hit or miss). You'll obviously need DDR3 RAM too, but that should be easy enough to find, whether you want it new or used.

That said, that processor is still plenty capable for most games. If you go that route, I’d definitely recommend stepping up to a more powerful graphics card than just an R7 250 or 250x. Ideally, you should aim for something like an R7 360, a 260X, or a 750Ti, reaching up to an R9 270 or a GTX 950 at the absolute maximum. Throwing in some overclocking would also help, provided your motherboard and cooler can handle it.

Alright. I am currently deciding between the GTX 750 Ti or the R9 270.
In your estimation, how long do you think these cards will remain viable for upcoming game releases before they become obsolete?

Additionally, which retailer would you recommend? I am looking for the best balance of price, reliability, and warranty length. I noticed that Best Buy seems to have the highest prices; should I interpret that as an indicator of quality or just a premium markup?

I won't take up any more of your time. 😉

If you're looking to upgrade from a 750Ti 2GB, based on what's available right now, I'd suggest this one. As for moving up from an R9 270, check out this option.

Just remember, if they're asking a premium price, it’s usually just a sign they're padding their margins. 😬

Not a great suggestion since there are way more versions available with dual fans for $13.
