Hey guys, maybe this is a super silly question, but...
do you always have to wait until your period is actually late to take a test, or can you do it sooner? And does anyone know why?..
I've been feeling this weird pain in my breasts, but it’s nothing like my usual PMS (normally it starts on the outer side, spreads downward, and just aches until my period finally hits), but now it's like this intense heaviness right at the bottom of my chest. Plus, my mood swings are absolutely brutal lately.
Please give some advice to a dummy like me😉..

You need to wait at least 14 days after sex before taking a test..

but I already tried it twice, and both times there was just this super faint little plus sign... so honestly, I have no clue what's going on, and I'm kind of terrified to try again because I don't want to deal with that disappointment..

we''ll see i guess..

I know I’m probably just grasping at straws here, but... 🤷
I can't seem to shake this feeling. I can't just go back to living my normal life, acting like nothing has changed...
My period arrived right on day 28. But it’s wrong. It’s light, it’s weird—it leaked a little the first day, stopped completely on the second, and now it’s just spotting. Usually, my periods are heavy and straightforward.
I took a test on the second day of this bleeding, and it was negative.
Look, I've had enough cycles in my life to know what they're supposed to feel like. Usually, there's heavy flow, cramping, bloating... none of that. Just this slight spotting.
Should I take another test? If so, when? And what if the test gives me a false negative?
What about a blood test? When would that be appropriate? How am I supposed to ask for one when I'm technically already having my period?
Will they just put me in one of those flimsy, thin hospital gowns that ties in the back? 🤣

Perhaps wait a few more days before trying another test. If that also turns up negative, it might be worth scheduling an appointment with your OB-GYN. I personally experienced two very light periods that lasted only a single day, though unfortunately, I wasn't pregnant; my hormones were just a bit out of balance (I have a progesterone deficiency, so I take Duphaston during the second half of my cycle).

analogskipper12, I’d much rather be pulling out a beta

It seems like a waste of money at this point. A test should probably yield results within a day or two if there’s actually anything to find. If I were relying on my own questionable judgment, I’d probably end up missing two consecutive months.

I’ve had a beta test done twice—once at the hospital via a referral, and the second time a nurse from my OBGYN came straight to my house to do it for $23 and give me the results.

Personally, I think maybe 🤷 if you do it that way, you might be 100% certain🤷
but even then, I suppose I would still wait a few days just to be safe...

I’ll probably just wait until I actually have to go, maybe Wednesday morning (around 34 weeks?), to take another test.
If it comes back negative, at least I can breathe easy for a moment.
(A few women on other forums really spooked me; they were only two or three months along when they realized they hadn't even noticed.)

Hey ladies...
My period is six days late, and I’ve been feeling pretty nauseous and lightheaded lately... I took two tests, but they both came back negative.
My cycle is usually super regular, except for the one time I was pregnant—and I knew immediately back then. Now I'm just totally confused since we used protection every single time. I have an appointment with my OB-GYN this Friday.

Is it too soon to take a test? My last period started on December 22nd, and I usually get mine right on day 23 or 24, but today is already day 29

Of course it’s not too early, but you’ve already run two tests and both came back negative, so 🤷

We'll see... I wasn't planning on getting pregnant, but I wouldn't be against it if it happens.
I'm just a little worried that if I don't get my period, it might point to a bigger issue (especially since I have HPV, which is supposedly lying dormant for now).

Help anyone...
I’m already five days late... I had a miscarriage about three months ago, and honestly, it’s still such a heavy, painful memory to carry...
Now that my period is late again... part of me is feeling a little bit happy, but mostly, I'm just terrified...
I really need some advice... any signs to look out for... literally anything at all...
And please, don't just tell me to "go buy a pregnancy test and be done with it"... I've seen enough of those dismissive comments to last a lifetime! Just give me something real...

Look, nobody here has a crystal ball to tell you whether you're pregnant or not. It’s honestly a bit much that you didn't catch my warning in the last post—I mentioned that questions like yours belong in other threads or over at the "wannabe" boards. This specific thread is strictly for women who are already certain they're pregnant and want to discuss early symptoms—it's meant to be a resource for them to compare notes. For anything else, just go buy a test; nobody is psychic... or as some people say, spit on your keyboard and let us see if you're expecting.🤣
Moving this post to the "Buy a Test" thread.

The only real sign I had when I started thinking I might be pregnant was that my usual PMS just... vanished. No mood swings, nothing bothering me, and most importantly—not a single breakout. And this was while I was still eating chocolate just as much as always.

So, I took a pregnancy test this afternoon—a Clearblue, if you want to get technical. Long story short, it gave me a positive. How likely is it that this is just a total fluke?
Honestly, we’ve been dying to have a baby for what feels like forever. I don't see my doctor until Friday, and I swear, if I have to wait until then, I might actually lose my mind. I just needed to know if these things can actually lie to you. I feel completely unhinged right now; I keep bracing myself for my period to show up, and I can barely wrap my head around the idea that I might actually be pregnant. We've been wanting this for so long that we were already starting to talk about fertility specialists because we were terrified one of us was infertile. And now, suddenly, there's a plus sign. I just... I just really hope this isn't a false alarm...
Sorry if there's already a thread about this, I'm way too scattered to go searching through everything right now...

Well, I find it pretty hard to believe the result is a false positive.
How late is your period actually running?
