Well... looks like things might actually be going your way for once... best of luck, and make sure to let me know what the doctor says on Friday.

Henry Fox87 said:So, I took a pregnancy test this afternoon—a Clearblue, if you want to get technical. Long story short, it gave me a positive. How likely is it that this is just a total fluke?
Honestly, we’ve been dying to have a baby for what feels like forever. I don't see my doctor until Friday, and I swear, if I have to wait until then, I might actually lose my mind. I just needed to know if these things can actually lie to you. I feel completely unhinged right now; I keep bracing myself for my period to show up, and I can barely wrap my head around the idea that I might actually be pregnant. We've been wanting this for so long that we were already starting to talk about fertility specialists because we were terrified one of us was infertile. And now, suddenly, there's a plus sign. I just... I just really hope this isn't a false alarm...
Sorry if there's already a thread about this, I'm way too scattered to go searching through everything right now...

Why don't you just pick up another test? It's definitely possible for them to be wrong, though the odds are slim. If you grab a couple more and they all say the same thing, then you'll know! Either way, I'm rooting for you and hoping it's the real deal!!!

Ladies, has anyone else here dealt with a pregnancy test giving you a false alarm? Specifically, I’m talking about those cases where a mini test shows a faint line that turns out to be nothing at all... just a shadow rather than an actual positive result.

I’ve seen those positive lines plenty of times whenever I was hoping to get pregnant... purely imaginary, of course.

But if other people are seeing it too, then that’s likely your answer. Just try again tomorrow or in a few days using your first morning urine. Good luck... 👍

Austin Brown4, you’re going to need to retake that test or just pull your beta

I honestly don't know how to handle this. I took the test this afternoon, and both my husband and I saw it—it's a faint line, but it's definitely there. It’s been 15 days since we were together... My temperature is sitting at 98.6, my breasts feel swollen though they aren't sore, and I've had some mild cramping, similar to what I feel right before my period starts. My stomach was acting up earlier, so I took some Pepto-Bismol... could that have any impact on the results? Ladies, if this is actually it, then I am living proof that you can conceive even with a zero count... though obviously, supplements help. I just can't believe it. A faint line, but visible nonetheless. I won't let myself get too carried away, lest I be disappointed. Best wishes to everyone. 🙂

There it is again—that faint, barely perceptible pink line...
I’m honestly considering just heading over to the clinic tomorrow to have them take the biopsy out once and for all.

I experienced a very similar situation where I saw nothing more than a ghostly, pale sliver, and everyone around me insisted I was simply imagining things. Then, about two weeks later, the nausea kicked in and I was met with a strikingly dark, unmistakable positive line. If you are feeling uncertain, perhaps try using a Clearblue test; I must have spent a small fortune on those over the years. To be honest, I also went through several months of imagining pregnancy symptoms myself, so I believe a quantitative blood test is your best course of action—otherwise, the sheer uncertainty will drive you to distraction.

Is there any kind of test I can take 7 days before my period is actually due?

You have that private lab over on Fifth Avenue and another one out in the suburbs. Give them a call and check. The one in the suburbs stays open to walk-ins all day long.

P.S. You're in the wrong thread. This section is for people talking about actual pregnancy symptoms—meaning people who are already pregnant.

That’s not true. Real pregnancy symptoms are discussed in the "First Signs of Pregnancy" thread. This space is for those of us dealing with suspicions and how we're feeling. Check the rules if you don't believe me.

Hi everyone—looking for some advice here. My girlfriend’s period is late; she was expecting it by January 30th. We had unprotected sex on January 24th, though it only lasted a few minutes before we started using protection. Now, she says she's feeling all the usual PMS symptoms—cramping and breast tenderness—and she's noticed some white discharge. Her cycle has always been incredibly regular over the last few months, so I’m starting to get pretty anxious... Has anyone dealt with something similar? Was it just a delay or is there a chance of pregnancy?

Just buy a test.

I need some serious advice here, please!!!!!
So, my boyfriend finished inside me on January 31st, but my period actually started back on January 27th—which would have been day five of my cycle.
What are the actual odds of me being pregnant right now???
It’s been about 15 days since that potential conception window. Is it even worth using a pregnancy test at this stage, or will it just be a waste of money?!!

Thanks

The chances are slim. And honestly, an at-home test won't tell you anything until around Feb 24th or 26th. You have to wait until basically when your next period is due.

It's always possible, obviously, though the odds are slim—if your cycles are regular and follow a predictable pattern, I wouldn't call them significant.👍
We've all dealt with these same anxieties at some point, so try not to worry too much.
If you really want certainty, get a blood test for beta HCG; that's the only way to know for sure this early.
The hormone doesn't show up in urine until later.

How am I supposed to know without knowing how long your cycle usually lasts?

If you have a 21-day cycle, yeah, you might be pregnant.

But if you're on a standard 28-day cycle... man, I don't even know what to say.

My cycle consistently runs longer than the standard 28 days—I’m looking at anywhere from 28 to 33. It feels like I'm constantly waiting for something that's overdue...

You aren't pregnant, so rest easy.
There will come a day when you'll be praying for the exact opposite.👍
