There is really no need for all this unnecessary philosophical debate. Just go out and buy the test.

Can anyone suggest a reliable pregnancy test? I’m currently on my second day of a missed period, and things have been super confusing. I started with a Chronolab test first thing in the morning, which showed a very faint positive line. I left the sample sitting out for about 20-30 minutes while I ran to the drugstore to grab a Clearblue, but when I tested with the same sample, it came back negative. Later that afternoon, I tried an Intim Plus, but I messed up and held it horizontally instead of vertically—which I know was wrong—but it still showed a negative result. Today is my fifth day since my period was due, and I tried the Chronolab again in the afternoon, but it showed nothing. Then I did a direct test, adding just 2-3 drops after five minutes, and it was also negative, though that one was probably invalid since I didn't follow the instructions properly. It seems like the Chronolab isn't something I can trust, so I'm looking for recommendations on what to buy before I head to my OB-GYN. That first faint positive really threw me for a loop, especially after the Clearblue came back negative. Does it make a difference if the urine sample sat out for that long?

I thought Chronos was solid. But honestly? Depending on how much cash you blew on it, you probably could've just gone to a local lab and run a beta test for way less. No two ways about it.

I’m pretty new to this whole scene, so I’ve been scrolling through all the threads here and absorbing everything, but I definitely feel like I could use some pointers from someone who actually knows what they’re doing...
I’ve got this nagging suspicion that I might be pregnant, even though my last period came through—though it was definitely lighter than usual, if you know what I mean. On top of that, my breasts have been feeling way more sensitive and sore than normal for about a week and a half now, and I’m not due for my period for another five days. I already took a test last Wednesday and it came back negative, but I just picked up another one. Since I still have five days to go before my period is supposed to start, I haven't used it yet. Should I just go ahead and take it now, or am I better off waiting a bit longer?
Because honestly... the absolute last thing I need right now is to find out I'm expecting.

You’ve got five days to go, and you tested eleven days before your period was due. That means it was just a few days after ovulation? If you were pregnant with eight kids, a test wouldn't even pick it up that early..

Which brand did you pick up? It makes a difference in how early you can actually get a result. Once you're officially late, any test will work, but before then... there's a big distinction.

1 step, I just picked one up...
Standard procedure says you’re supposed to wait until you’ve missed your period before using it...
My last cycle was honestly super weird, it showed up four days late, which is strange because my schedule is usually incredibly consistent.
I’m assuming the test would actually show something if there were any reason to worry...?
Maybe it’s all just stress from finals week... I really have no idea, but I am absolutely certain that a baby is the last thing I need right now!

No, then the test wouldn't show anything at all, so you'd just be wasting your money... $8.25 if I remember correctly.

Wait another 6 or 7 days before taking it. You might actually get an answer then, assuming you don't get it sooner.

and say, if the measurement turned out to be a total fluke, would he actually show anything at all?

True. But why are you assuming the data is rigged? That almost never happens.

I’ve been reading all these stories about how so many women deal with those false positive tests, and honestly, it started getting under my skin and I couldn't stop overthinking the whole thing...
The only thing that actually has me a bit worried is that my breasts have suddenly gotten so much larger for no apparent reason, and since I've also been eating a little more than usual lately, I immediately started suspecting I might be pregnant...
I'm going to wait seven days and then take a test, so we'll just see what happens...

Pregnancy comes with a massive list of symptoms, and honestly, almost none of them are definitive or unique to being pregnant. There’s no need to panic before you actually know. 😉

Good luck.

I actually took a test five days after my period was late—and I used evening urine instead of the first thing in the morning—and it gave me a huge positive.
Basically, just try it once you're about that many days late...

Good luck...

I opted for the Daft Punk kit (it comes with two tests) and took it the very first day my period was late. It turned positive within seconds—no waiting around for minutes at all—and I didn't even bother using my first morning sample. I’ll definitely be using them again because they are quick, incredibly straightforward, and budget-friendly.

I honestly can’t wrap my head around how many women are just completely reckless when it comes to their own health.

If my period was even ten days late, there would be two very specific ways this plays out.

1. I’d have already burned through eight different pregnancy tests...
2. Or I’d have already been breathing down my boyfriend's neck to figure out what's going wrong.

So listen, ladies, if you're running late, it is time to get on your man's case IMMEDIATELY!!!

And if you haven't realized that yet, I am being DEAD SERIOUS!!!

Once you've had that talk with him, go ahead and hash it out over on Reddit!!!

I'm not sure if you realized... but this is a community for pregnant women... and those trying to become pregnant... so for us, every missed period represents a glimmer of hope for a baby.

So how much does the Google duo go for??

I'm heading out to grab some today, and I was originally thinking about just getting the Micro version, but if there's a duo option that won't totally wreck my bank account, hmm... 🤔

🙂

Don't take my word as gospel, as I picked up the Microsoft Daft Punk set back in October of last year, and if I recall correctly, it was roughly $6. It’s quite reasonable given you get two in a pack. I certainly recommend it.

Micro is about $4, so I don't think the duo is $5.
