Jessica Gonzalez said:The McPers is actually pretty good for the price. It’s kind of a heavy, bread-focused burger, which I personally like. Honestly, I could probably just eat the bun. They don't seem to be skimping on the size, whereas a lot of other places do. The only annoying thing is that those jerks only take cash, and there isn't an ATM anywhere near there.

Oh, come on! You don't eat a burger for the bun. The ratio of dough to meat is just completely ridiculous. The meat is so thin it’s like they sliced up some deli ham—you can barely find traces of it. Every bite is basically 80% chewy bread and maybe 20% actual meat. 🙂

I still find myself coming back to Alan Ford; it holds up remarkably well even today. It feels different now that I'm older, almost as if there are these subtle layers of humor that simply slipped past me when I was just a kid.

But then again, if you weren't raised on it, is there really much chance you'll find yourself gravitating toward it in your downtime later in life?

It's like five bucks for a subscription, you get the basics on here. Missing LL and NN, but whatever, they obviously don't have everything.

Paul Martinez73 said:Domino's Pizza is absolute garbage; it’s like buying that Dr. Oetker stuff at Lidl and just tossing it in the oven. That’s basically their whole business model. And Subway? They barely made a dent in Europe—that's not even an exaggeration. In major cities, you might find maybe five locations, and they kept their prices just as high in Berlin as they did in Washington, D.C., so they're headed for another collapse...

I never doubted for a second that Sportivo - Burggeliere belongs to that category of "elite burgers," where they grill a patty right in front of you 🤣, but let's be real: it's just that pre-ground meat from Walmart that everyone uses for cheap patties—basically scraps of scraps. They pretend to make them themselves because it's cheaper to shape a patty and slap a "handmade" label on it than to actually buy quality meat; they get the ground beef for $6.75/lb, turn it into a patty for $10/lb, and then serve it to you like it's some Subway sandwich meant to be eaten on the run $13. To actually get full at YS, you have to drop $23 on a single damn Burger
.
I eat at Kremenko, MekPers, and places like that myself, but purely just for the variety...

And then you have people talking about marketing geniuses. They can tell the difference between a $20 burger and a $13, but the only thing they really feel is the hit to their wallet 🤣
Sportivo - Burggeliere 🤣

McPers is ten times worse than McDonald's, easily.
But based on your references, it's pretty obvious to me that when it comes to food, you always go for the cheapest, most mass-produced option.
"Opium for the masses"—that should be your middle name.

It's kinda weird to me that he doesn't vibe with AF, because the whole situation here in America has been the same for like 50 years. That’s why the comic really only took off in Italy and the old America; in other Western countries where they tried to push it, the content is just... unrealistic.🤣

Man, I always go overboard at Submarine. Just a burger plus some crazy combo of French fries, man, it hits different.

I honestly don't get people when they say stuff like, "I have to eat five burgers at McDonald's or I'll still be hungry." Like, seriously? How much food are you guys actually consuming?

What is everyone arguing about regarding McDonald's? Honestly, both McDonald's and KFC have their merits. Usually, those promotional burgers you find at McDonald's turn out to be quite substantial and genuinely tasty.

The Submarine is excellent, along with plenty of other options in that category, but there’s really no need to act like they're the greatest thing since sliced bread. Everything in moderation, right?

For me, the issue isn't so much the burgers as it is the constant disappointment when it comes to pizza; it is surprisingly difficult to find a decent slice that doesn't have crust as thin as a sheet of paper and cost an absolute fortune $27.

Personally, when it comes to both of those questions, I just decided to take matters into my own hands and cook at home; it isn't rocket science, after all, and you can make whatever you want, however you want it.

I’ve always wondered why it didn't take off in England. I honestly can't wrap my head around it—it's almost as if it's part of their national character, isn't it?

AF managed to find some footing in America because people were already hooked on Italian comics. That was the dominant influence, so everyone was used to that specific style.
The US market was pretty much directly tied to all the comic trends coming out of Italy.
As for popularity in other regions, the Franco-Belgian scene basically considered itself the gold standard of the art form. Breaking into a market like that and actually making your own comics mainstream is incredibly tough—you have to secure a distributor and be ready to swallow massive costs, especially when you know from day one that the market is going to be skeptical.
Meanwhile, England has been leaning more into that Marvel vibe since the 70s.

Honestly, I think Americans in general don't pay much attention to translations. If AF had been produced by an English studio, it would have been a massive hit.

Small business owners are speaking out about the absolute nightmare of inspections: 'I just couldn't take it anymore—so I shut down.'

That Subway location in the city center used to pull in maybe $2,500 to $3,000 a shift, but the manager there completely burned every bridge with their suppliers until they couldn't even get food delivered anymore.

Does anyone recall the name of that comic featuring Dylan Dog—though it went by a different title back then?🤔
I seem to remember Groucho Marx being in there somehow... and Dylan was constantly dealing with all sorts of chaos. The whole thing had this dark, horror-inspired vibe, but Dylan himself was going by a different name at the time...

Subway went under because their prices were simply too high—and frankly, they were being incredibly stingy with the actual ingredients in the sandwiches.

They skimped on everything—three slices of cheese, three slices of meat, that was it. 🤣
And honestly, God help the people who actually had to eat there. 😛

LP,

If you actually bothered to read what I wrote, you'd see my point: all trash is essentially the same. You just seem to think that if you pay a premium, the garbage you're eating is somehow superior to the garbage everyone else gets for less—mostly because yours comes in fancy cellophane with a label claiming it was sourced from some pristine farm in the Midwest where even the manure is supposedly better than what they have in Brazil.

I lumped McPerks in with Kremenko because they actually offer a decent variety of fast food; you can grab anything from chicken wraps to pizza or various burgers at a reasonable price. Meanwhile, over at YS, you're stuck with five burgers and that's it, all while swallowing the marketing hype like everyone else without ever stopping to think about what kind of nonsense you're actually paying for.

But hey, there's a market for everything, including shrink-wrapped garbage.

If I absolutely have to eat crap, I’m going to pick the option that doesn't break the bank. I refuse to drop more than $13 on a burger, pizza, or side, but feel free to spend a hundred on your precious choice.

LG,

The connoisseur of garbage
