The World Health Organization (WHO) has reportedly asked UEFA to just "shut down" football entirely through the end of next year.

According to reports from the Italian outlet La Repubblica, the WHO laid out this proposal during a video conference at yesterday's meeting with the general secretaries of UEFA's member associations.

That Italian paper is saying the WHO is getting jittery about a second wave of the pandemic, which they're expecting to kick off pretty soon.

But honestly, you have to wonder how UEFA is even going to react to this, especially since they've already had enough of a headache dealing with the one-year delay of the EURO, let alone the idea of stretching everything out even longer.

We're talking billions in losses for the European football federation here, and another shutdown would absolutely wreck the financial stability of so many clubs.
