Quarantine

I attended the midnight premiere this past Saturday and, I must admit, it caught me off guard.
The film is excellent. A solid horror-thriller that effectively tests one's nerves through sudden, unpredictable moments.
In terms of pure scares, it stands right alongside the Curse (though I am referring to the Japanese version; I haven't seen the American one).

REC isn't trash. Quarantine is.

REC 2 is quite literally the only horror film that has ever managed to truly terrify me.
I highly doubt any of this American trash will ever reach that level.

It’s not that I’m judging ahead of time or anything, but I kind of share those doubts with you, 😉
though, if I'm being honest, there have been plenty of other horror films that actually managed to scare the life out of me. 😲

I haven't seen it—nor do I have any intention of watching it.

REC 2 is an okay enough movie, I guess, but I just don't get why everyone is freaking out about it.
Otherwise, the folks in Spain really know how to nail a horror flick.

But you make a fair point. It’s likely just the same movie rebranded (even if they claim there are some tweaks), but I'll probably head to the theater regardless. Unfortunately, [REC] didn't get a wide release here in the States, so this will serve as my introduction.

A masterpiece? Really? I mean, sure, it’s a decent enough flick, pretty much like any other zombie or epidemic movie out there. But this American trash? I have zero intention of wasting my time on it; it was clearly churned out specifically for those mindless Americans who are too lazy to even bother reading subtitles.

Well, I've never really been one for horror, zombie, or epidemic films—I don't even particularly like them—but in this REC, every single frame felt absolutely perfect... I don't know... I suppose I'm just an odd one... 🙄

REC is actually a great movie; I honestly don't get why everyone is hating on it... :S As for that Quarantine flick, I doubt it'll come anywhere close to the original, but I'll check it out whenever I have some downtime...

So, I finally sat through it. Honestly, if I hadn't known what I was getting into, I probably would've realized within the first two minutes that I was watching a remake... It’s just a weird feeling when you watch the exact same plot unfold, just with a different cast and some slightly tweaked scenes here and there. I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I think the original was better.

I just finished watching REC and honestly? It was great, though it definitely creeped me out. The lead actress was fantastic—I feel like we’re going to be hearing a lot more about her soon, at least over in Spain...

I have zero plans to watch Quarantine, even if the reviews aren't exactly trash. Apparently, it's decent enough if you haven't seen the original, and even if you have, it’s not the massive disappointment people make it out to be.

Jennifer Carpenter was amazing in the Dexter series. She really nailed that character portrayal.
I'm really hoping she gets some solid opportunities in film, even outside of the horror genre!

Caught this last week, and honestly, it’s a solid flick. My only gripe is how much the main characters' stupidity grates on my nerves sometimes, plus I can't stand the constant mass-production of
"handheld camera" shots.
It's the same old problem you see in every single zombie horror movie out there. Still, it’s tense and high-energy. It definitely has its moments that creep you out.
Whether this holds up better or worse than REC is up for debate.
I guess it just depends on what you value most in a movie.

If you ask me, it’s actually pretty solid. There are a few scenes that feel even more intense than the original—well, "a few" might be an understatement—since there's definitely more gore. It leans much harder into the brutality, which is honestly exactly what I look for in this kind of stuff. Those last ten minutes get pretty gnarly too, even if they don't follow the original script to a T. All in all, I was pleasantly surprised.

Medical horrors aren't really my thing.

I had no idea that 80 percent of people actually call firefighters when they have medical issues. Makes you think.

That last 20 minutes? Excellent. It’s horror exactly how it ought to be.
